O planeta

According to Helena Blavatsky, the three “fragments” that make up The Voice of the Silence are her translations of three tracts from The Book of Golden Precepts, of which there are 90 and she had memorized 39. The Book of Golden Precepts is said to include both Buddhist and pre-Buddhists views on spirituality.

Blavatsky was one of the founding members of the Theosophical Society, an organization that proposed and advanced a certain brand of mysticism. Mystic traditions are those which believe th

Shelves: esoteric
A jewel in madame Blavatsky's esoteric crown, this little (compared to multi-volume "Isis Unveiled" and her magnum opus "The Secret Doctrine") book, is claimed to be her own translation of the three of 90+ "verses" from so-called "Book of the Golden Precepts". Questions of mystification aside, this is deeply poetic and inspiring book, intended (in her own words) "for the few" (read - seekers of spiritual wisdom). It outlines the spiritual path of meditation and awareness in the vein of Mahayana ...more

This is pretty heavy stuff. I love Alan Watts on Buddhism and also Christianity, he began his career as a minister, then gravitated towards Eastern religions, with DT Suzuki his mentor.

I've read a bit about Blavatsky and her 5 root races that began populating the Earth, and this interested me. If you are a serious meditator, and want to reach nirvana, loose your ego, and understand the tenets of Buddhism, this is a tutorial for you. I read it once, but it's the kind of thing that has so much in

A unbelievable read that literally carried me off to other realms. Blavatsky describes the stages to a higher consciousness and one feels that a false move would result in a tumble back to the humdrum. My weak account aside, this is a profound text.

Interesting bits, but it wasn't really for me.

The essence of Blavatsky's books condensed down into a beautiful, simple, and short treatsie on ethics and metaphysics. A great book to carry in the pocket as a daily guide for meditation.

This is probably the only book any spiritual seeker needs. Tiny and packed with all the wisdom required to ascend. Simple and from the heart.

An amazing book ☆ but difficult to process and to understand, especially for someone who is as new as me in Buddhist concepts and ideas. Despite re-reading several times, I found it very interesting ~ and very advice full ♡

A wonderful read and definitely not something you want to rush through. Take your time with it. Use the glossary in the back. Finish a section and think about it a bit, perhaps reread it even. This little book right is one you will find yourself revisiting and finding new things to take away from each time.

She certainly was trying hard to both conceal and reveal. It was somewhat messy.

If this is what Madam Blavatsky (HPB) said it is, as the current Dalai Lama and the Panchen Lama of HPB's time said, `tis Mahayana Buddhism based on or derived from one of the esoteric books. It is as exellent as _Upanishads_, _Yoga_Sutra_; _Golden_Verses_of_Pythagoras_, _Dhammapada_, _Heart_Sutra_ , _Sentences_of_Sextus_, _Dzyan_ (the only available part--which she recorded), etc..

This Centenary edition is slightly larger than the usual edition, though the size measured by the cover is smaller.

This tiny book is in my opinion Blavatsky's most important work, and is personally my favourite.

It's content and poetic language are reminiscent of the teachings of the Dhammapada. Meant, in blavatsky's own words, "For the few", this book contains some peals of wisdom that are amongst some of the finest esoteric knowledge available to the Western world.

A very inspiring read!

Recommends it for: Everyone.
Fernando Pessoa, one of Portugal's greatest Poets and Minds, did an exceptional translation of Blavatsky's great classic, "The Voice of the Silence" - absolutely a must read, in either of the versions (English or Portuguese).

"Inaction in a deed of mercy becomes an action in a deadly sin."
"Compassion speaks and saith: 'Can there be bliss when all that lives must suffer? Shalt thou be saved and hear the whole world cry?'"

The sanskrit terms and poetic shape of the text sometimes bores your read, but is worth bearing in mind that this is a translation of an ancient text so we have to praise Blavatsky for this treasure.
