I've read a Harlequin adaptation by Earithen before and I didn't like it. The book in question was called THE BLACKMAIL MARRIAGE. It was a case of bad story, bad art, bad execution. When I saw LORDS OF THE UNDERWORLD on Amazon for 99-cents, my reaction was one of skepticism. I'd heard of Gena Showalter's series, but had written it off as being too cheesy. Plus, the adaptation was being done by Earithen.

...But on the other hand, it was only

I read the Lord's of the Underworld series several years ago and this is the story that started it all. Such a magical idea to combine Greek mythology with a modern day setting all whilst adding extremely hot romance. Seeing that there's a manga version had me very curious and my feelings are a little mixed if I'm honest.
Ok first what I liked about this book was the way the artist took the salient points and imbued them with life. Maddox might not be exactly as I imagined him in looks but he's

I love Gena Showalter. I love Manga. What a perfect combination. This is a great introduction to her books for anyone who hasn't read them before and one of my favourite series too. It is adapted well, the only criticism being as it is a manga you lose a lot of the details I loved, but because it's manga you can't do much about that. The art work is lovely and I loved the character design of the men in the book, just wasn't as keen on the main character design.

I had review the manga adaption of The Darkest Prison - Lords of the Underworld 3.5 (Harlequin comics) by Earithen and The Darkest Passion (Harlequin comics) by Earithen..and now , we back to the first book of LOTU, The Darkest Night. A little foreword, I read LOTU back at 2010 when I first read my paranormal romance spree. Together with Immortals After Dark, Lords of the Underworld is a series that start my love for anything paranormal. Back then I'm not read Dark Hunter by Sherrilyn Kenyon yet, and I'm quite fascinated with the way Gena infused Greek myth, especially about Pandora box to her work. And so begin my love ...more

The Darkest Night Part 1
is the first part of The Darkest Night, the first book in the Lords of the Underworld series. The Darkest Night tells the story of Ashlyn and Maddox.

I've read the first three books in the Lords of the Underworld series and one novella, and I love the story and the characters. When I discovered this manga on Netgalley, I just had to read it. I love

I bought this the second Showalter announced it was for sale! If you're a fan of her Lords of the Underworld series, this is a nice visual companion to the books. My only problem with it was that if you had not read the series before picking this graphic novel up, I don't think you'd be able to follow it too well. So definitely make sure to read the series first, and this adds to it nicely :)

In Issue 1.1 of Lords of the Underworld, The Darkest Night, we are first introduced to Ashlyn Darrow; a young woman with the paranormal ability to read minds, be them in the past, the future, or the present. Desperate for some quiet, and to try and rid herself of her gift, Ashlyn seeks out the Angels living in the suburbs of Budapest. There, she meets a dangerous man, Maddox. Her adventure begins.

I love this first issue of The Darkest Night, despite my three star rating. As great as this is as

There's a hidden world in Budapest. And it's not normal.

24-year-old Ashlyn has been born with incredible abilities: she can hear all conversations around her from past and present. So, when she bumps into a castle where the voices in her head quiet down, she is determined to find out why. But the castle is not inhabited by angels, as legends say. It's inhabited by Guardians, cursed with inner demons. But even that isn't enough to keep her away from the handsome, mysterious Guardian who keeps his

This is the manga version of the series and this is the first part of book one. I read the first book ages ago and I really enjoyed seeing the book come to life in picture form.

The story is engaging and it nicely introduces the Lords and tells us their back story. We also get to understand who Ashlyn is and we have an intro to her special abilities which have set her aside from friends and family in the past.

The manga version is done really well and manages to capture the first part of the prose

I would like to thank NetGalley and Harlequin / SB Creative for providing me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I haven't read the series on which this manga is based, but I liked this adaptation. It ends with a cliffhanger, but this often happens with comics and probably also with Manga.
It's a very romantic and a fast-paced page-turner, you can read it in one sitting.
I'm looking forward to reading the next volume of this series.

Ms. Showalter writes stories which has something in itself. Add manta layer to it with beautiful drawings and I'm done.

Author : Gena Showalter; Illustrator : Earithen

I read Gena Showalter’s Lord of Underworld super long time ago and started it with this book. Telling a story about Aislyn, Maddox and how their encounter brings a new aspect of the storyline. I personally adore

Re-read it.
Love the story and art
When I found this on the shop I fell in love by the cover and bought it. This book is the reason I am now a fan of Gena Showalter and decided to read the book. Though there were some slight changes in the story. I would have bought the whole manga series for this and along with the novel if it weren't for different people drawing the manga series.

I love the stories written by Gena Showalter and the manga counterpart of the stories namely the 2 manga below:

Molto carino, in realtà 3 stelle e 1/2.
