This is an amazing book and a look back at the people who lived in a world where your word was good, a handshake meant something and morals were high. It is also a wonderful book about the heroes that kept people safe in a disturbing time. As always the Time-life company gives readers a well written beautiful book.

Amazing photos and great stories about the war. Lots of interesting mini-stories of which I was not aware. Much better than I expected. Definitely worth keeping as a reference book.

The visual aids were of course amazing, but this book surprised me in many ways. I have read many books on the subject and I thought this book would reiterate what I had learned. But it truly surprised me with many in depth explanations and touched into theaters that were overlooked by other novels. I also loved the interviews and first hand accounts blended on to the book to make it glide smoothly. I also found the quotes to be an extremly nice touch also. But there was some reiteration of past knowledge that I have already read. That is why it has 4 stars. I would recommend this book to a friend but the visuals may be a little graphic for first time World War Two readers, witch is another reson I rated 4 stars. Overall a really good book that provides a change form usual books about the subject.

I thought the book was a great book, I would give it 5 stars. Since I am a history geek this book was fantastic for me, the book informed on Nazi Germany And WW2, The USA's big role in the war and what happened to the people of Germany. The book mainly focuses on the U.S and the the role that they played in the war "Go home..... or return to your jobs!"(pg 127). The authr directly tells the reader of the events that took place in WW2 and how the U.S allied to stop them. The purpose of this book was definitely to educate the reader. The theme of this book is triumph for instance, "I must confess, sir, when you became president, I had you in low regard."(pg 98) No one believed in President Harry Truman, but he over came that and helped fight back. The people that believed in him where among his most trusted advisers. The theme is Triumph because the President cam up from underneath and helped win the war. The style of this book is description. I think it is a description because it is always telling a stories about the war and what happened.Explaining their time and place to the reader. The author engulfed the reader into the book. The Author did a great job informing the reader and putting the reader in to the stories that the author tells. My opinion of the book would be that it was good but it had parts that I did not really care for. The book really put a perspective on the lives of Jewish people and the horror that they went through while all of this was going down. I disliked the fact that the author did not add more things about Adolf Hitler, there was not really much on him. Personally I like non-fiction books and really appreciated this book. If there were anything i could change I would only change the the information on Adolf Hitler because I like to learn about what he was thinking and what he failed at what he was trying to accomplish. I encourage you to read this book, it tells the history and real life experience of the second World War.
