This book has been a staple in my kitchen for a decade, and I'd highly recommend it to any beginning cook or to home cooks who don't have a lot of free time to spend over a stove. Most of the recipes are very easy and straightforward and tasty - the appetizers in particular have always been big hits at parties - and some of the tips and advice are lifesavers, especially the chart for converting ingredient measurements and suggestions for substituting ingredients. A quick look at this book has rescued more than one dinner when I discovered I didn't have something I needed in the house.
