Jernigan's War

Rate this book
Dix Jernigan was always prepared; even when civilization collapsed due to corrupt politicians, government overspending and Communist greed. What he wasn't prepared for was the total destruction of everyone and everything he cared about. His journey from personal vendetta to becoming a guiding force in the New Constitution Army puts his fighting abilities and survival to the test. Porter Jones had to grow up quickly and learn to survive in a world gone mad. With help he finds along the way, he develops skills to protect and defend his newly adopted family. He joins a group of warriors fighting with the New Constitution Army helping to restore the original US Constitution and defeat America's enemies.

Dix Jernigan

Goaltender wrote a keeper here. Lots of action. This was an easy read, didn't want to put it down. Had empathy for main characters.

Really wish I could give this book 3 1/2 stars. The main character reminds me of the larger than life character in "Point of Impact", Bob Lee Swagger by Stephen Hunter. Tougher than life men, who have lost love ones and determine to do something to get even.

I think this would be a good book for aspiring authors to read, as it seems a textbook case for lack of character development. The action scenes are excellent, but you're left wishing he would develop the characters more. I almost stopped reading it, but the more I read the more I could overlook this imperfection, because you had to find out what happens to Dix and Porter.

All in all a decent book, and I would read the sequel without thinking twice.

Great stuff

This is a great escape , if you want to fantasize about the apocalypse caused by inappropriate political action and ignorant voting by the American people. I found it thoroughly entertaining and would recommend it to anybody who enjoys this genre . Mr. Gallagher does an excellent job describing the details required to survive in a situation like that described in the book .

From the very first page in the book you are drawn into it. The author places you right there beside Dix as his life is turned upside down. Sometimes it is a little hard to believe one person can perform as Dix does but over all the plot is very believable. I recommend this book to those who don't mind a few proof reading errors and enjoys a good post apocalyptic book!

Little heavy on the politics, but a all around good yarn

Lately I have been reading a lot these types of stories . Most of them are written by non-professional officers and have a lot of glaring typos and grammatical errors.

Lots of Action

A good story line, the Characters are very realistic. A bit gorey, and definitely a Guy book. A little to much equipment and ammo info.
