Why Is the Sea Salty?: And Other Questions about Oceans is written by Benjamin Richmond. The book takes the reader through a series of questions about the ocean and provides answers in succinct paragraphs. Questions and answers begin relatively simply, with general information about the ocean, but the questions quickly become more specific, and all are equally addressed. This is the essential resource for children who are curious about the ocean. Gorgeous illustrations, well-researched text, and the question and answer format keep the reader engaged. References to familiar objects such as school buses and rubber duckies make the material relatable.

Why is the Sea Salty? is a stunning debut. I look forward to reading everything this author writes.
