This was a decent read. Typical textbook. I especially enjoyed the chapters on literacy acquisition and the importance of play that followed. The author is well grounded in the seminal scholarship, and historical information was provided that after a significant amount of time in early childhood, was new to me. I'd recommend using this as a textbook, but its also a good resource for a lifelong learner.
