This is a vegetarian cookbook (mainly vegan but uses honey in the baked goods). It focuses on vegetarian versions of comfort foods/ American "home style" dishes, not authentic ethnic dishes. The most common seasonings here are onions, garlic powder, dried basil, etc., so it's really not for fans of spicy foods.

I really liked most of the dishes I tried from here - Peanut Butter Carrot Loaf, Tofu Loaf, Macaroni Au Gratin, Armenian Lentil Pilaf (my favorite!), Baked Beans, Lasagna, Enchiladas, Scalloped Potatoes, Potato Salad. There were a few dishes that I tried which weren't bad but weren't great, either.

I was kind of underwhelmed at the vegetables section. Also, this stuff is NOT low-fat, at least not for a veg cookbook (lots of nuts and oil). With a few exceptions, most of the ingredients can be found in a regular grocery and none of the ingredients are particularly expensive.

No pictures. Nice spiral binding.
