Een standaardwerk over de geschiedenis van de Lage Landen. Het werk heeft sterke academische credentials en geeft je een heel goed en diep overzicht van twee eeuwen geschiedenis. De enige reden waarom ik het maar vier sterren geef is omdat sommige onderdelen langdradig zijn en het werk iets te lijvig is om een populair standaardwerk te zijn. Zeker een aanrader echter!

Read the first couple of chapters (1780-1914) as released in the first volume of the two volume set 1780-1980.
Quite a big read. No pictures, not many chapters, it just goes on and on.. which makes it difficult to grasp as the different subjects aren't separated. The book itself is worthy as a historical study though.
Most interesting to me were the chapters dealing with the colonial history of both countries.

Zoals alles wat Kossmann schreef: duidelijk, boeiend en genuanceerd. Verplichte kost voor elke Nederlandse historicus.
