Terrific book. I took a calligraphy course many years ago and wanted a book to refresh my memory. This book did that but included everything I learned in the course so I would recommend for beginners too.

This book is extremely well done. The thing about learning calligraphy is that the instructions are very simple. The only way to really learn it is practice.

One caveat is that every word in this book is important because they have presented the information in so concise a manner. Usually a teacher will reinforce a point by repeating it over and over and over again. They don’t do that in this book. They lay out all the pertinent information and you’re expected to accept it as given.

I did not particularly like the pens that were included with the book but then I did not expect them to be an exceptionally high quality. They are certainly good enough for practice pens.
