“Loed of the Flies” SparkNotes Literature Guide” was released on the kindle platform in 2014 by SparkNotes lLC, an affiliate of Barnes and Noble. The guide includes an analysis of each of the novel’s 12 chapters. The SparkNotes guide also has a wonderful set of presentations about “Lord of the Flies” themes, motifs, and symbols. In addition, the SparkNotes guide includes an exceptional overview of the novel’s plot lines, major character profiles, key facts, and explanations of important quotations from the “Lord of the Flies” storylines. I also had a wonderful learning experience reading SparkNotes “step by step” guidelines, literary essay presentations, and glossary of terms definitions. This amazing literature study guide dramatically improved my understanding of William Golding’s “Lord of the Flies” book. (p)

This is a really great way to understand the allegory of this book. The author's of this time period used higher level literary elements in their writing to project their political opinions in a covert way. For example, George Orwell's Animal Farm is another excellent example of using allegory to aim his hatred for tyranny at the Russian Revolution.

This brief compilation of “notes” contains a brief biography of William Golding, the author of Lord Of The Flies and explains some of the historical context of his novel. There is a brief basic plot overview and more lengthy chapter summaries (with analysis) that covers themes and symbols such as civilization versus savagery, loss of innocence, the conch shell, Piggy’s glasses, the signal fire and the pig’s head. Included is an overview of the major characters--Ralph, Jack, Simon, Piggy, Roger, the littleuns. There are some study questions and a guide to wiring a literary essay.
