This was a charming, sexy delight of a novella! Jade Lee has penned a romance that was heartfelt and fun to read. William Benton has become the steward to his families land after it was lost due to his fathers mistakes and it is hard for Will, at times, to let the past go. He wants his families land back but knows his elder brother has no means to purchase it back so he comes up with a new idea...wed the new owners daughter, Josephine. A woman whom he thinks to be a bit haughty and out of his re ...more

This was a fun read with cute clever characters that were so caught up in doing what was expected of them that that almost missed each other. I liked Will Crowle a lot. He was a hard working man that had only one real thing on his mind. He was biding his time trying to win what he wanted. He always loved his land and he wanted to get it back from the Lawtons. For five years he had been the estate steward making improvements and being on th eland he loved.

Josephine Lawton is a young woman that i

I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed reading this book!

Although it’s a novella I wasn’t expecting for it to be so long (or at least to reach pass 200 pages!). But didn’t I always want more from short novellas I come across? Well of course, so I got what I wanted, right?

So we here we have the hero, William Benton, who is the second son of a Lord. He’s smart, handsome, hands on, responsible, and well….the turned steward of his former home. Why? you ask. Well, hi

Really enjoyed this novella. Full of steamy romance, misunderstandings, and surprisingly well developed characters, Winning a Bride was an excellent read.

Considering this is a novella, the story and the characters were well developed. I felt like William and Josephine were deep characters with developed back stories. Very nicely done by the author.

Josephine was a very likable heroine. She was not going to let anyone run over her, including her father and the man she loves. Anyone seeking to cont

Yes please....I love this novella it's full of steamy romance!!

I was surprised for being a novella, the story and the characters were well developed nothing was missing or lacking. I like that this keep you guessing it had a unpredictable plot.

This was a heart warming love story. it was set at a time when marriage in the upper classes was often more about family alliances than love. Josephine had been holding out for a love match, but her father wanted her married, now. Will had loved her from afar for years and knew the time was right to woe her.

I read this in seriel fashion, one chapter delivered to my inbox each morning. Within a few days, I couldn't wait for the next days portion. I liked the characters of both Josephine and Will.

The book is a short story, just over 100 pages, but it holds the reader from start to the end.
The typical fairy tales, those you have as maxim "never judge by appearances".

William was the devoted steward of Lawton family, but he had a very good reason: the land where he served had belonged to his family, and his dedication to them has not abated despite the ruin.
He did have a bit of resentment of the family he served, but not because they were guilty, but because their presence was a strong remi

A little short, but interesting nonetheless
Although the novel is a little short (not quite full-length, not quite a novella) and the plot is a bit mundane—a second son who has lost his fortune and position in society not good enough for the woman, yada yada—Jade Lee’s talent as a writer salvages this novel from the humdrum. Engaging characters with satisfying complexity give depth to the story. Josephine is wild and free and understood only by William Benton, a man driven by the sins of his fami

There are a few new things that can be written in a romance novel, and this books falls into the cliché "you will realize that I am the only man for you," what elevates it slightly above the average is the ability to write, amuse and fascinate the reader that has Jade Lee.

Ci sono poche cose nuove che possono essere scritte in un romanzo d'amore e anche questo ricade nel cliché "ti renderai conto che sono l'unico uomo per te", quello che lo eleva leggermente al di sopra della media é la capacitá

WINNING A BRIDE by Jade Lee is an exciting novella Regency Historical Romance. #2.5 "Bridal Favors" series. A quick fast paced novella. Filled with passion and a yearning for more. The tale of two brothers,William and Grant Benton. A tale of love against all odds. Well written with engaging, and charismatic characters and an intriguing plot. A must read! It is fast moving from beginning to end. I can hardly wait to read "What the Bride Wore" which is next in the tale of two brothers. Loved it! R ...more

Will's family used to own the land where he is now the steward. Josephine is the oldest daughter of the family that purchased the land. He has loved her for 5 years but her father will not allow Will to court her. So instead they continue to meet, mostly to talk and share their lives. Jo has no idea that Will loves her but when circumstances allow her to see, she grabs her future with both hands. Really enjoyed the story and looking forward to Grant's book. ...more

In Winning the Bride, Will makes a plan and being an honorable man tries for five years to get permission to court Josephine but her father refuses. They continue to see one another and he keeps his distance and acts as an honorable man until he makes a plan to gain Jo's hand in marriage. It seems that if things could go wrong for these two, they go really wrong but in the end happiness wins the day. I do love a happy ending to a great love story. ...more

Jade Lee is becoming one of my favorite authors. I feel weird about this novella because while I liked it, most of the time I didn't like the hero and the heroine. I really believed that he didn't care for her until more was revealed at the end of the story.

Had a little steam, and I really did like it, and I can't wait to read another one of this author's books.

It was...okay. I started reading it through the Sourcebooks Casablanca email serial thing, got impatient, and borrowed it from the library; it had enough plot elements that I find irksome that I'm glad I didn't spend money on it. (The one I remember is terrible communication, but it's been at least a week, and I'm fairly certain there were other objectionable elements.) ...more

For a novella this was a good read. I didn't feel like the story was rushed or was missing anything. I liked Will and Jo, neither one annoyed me.

As for the excerpt from the next book...I have NO desire to read it. NONE!

Though I think it would have benefited from being a little longer, a solid read. PLENTY of steam and heat, and the hero needed to be beaten slightly, but the heroine gives him a satisfying-enough setdown in the end so that definitely helped. :P

A solid 4/5 stars, full review to follow.
