Firstly, I want to thank TWCS and Mike Walker for sending me this book because I flipping LOVED it! I honestly have not read a book so engaging in quite a while, so huge thanks! I'm likely to gush a lot whilst reviewing this, so I'll give you a brief over view now before going into a tad more detail but seriously this book is funny, touching, incredibly engaging, a fabulously fresh take on vampires and impossibly difficult to put down!

Back when I was a journalist, I was often called a vulture by the local police chief, so I can totally relate to a vampire gossip columnist! Mike Walker knows all about gossip, and in this book he combines his columnist's knowledge with a huge dose of satire to create Clark Kelly, vampire gossip king. It's not just a satire, though. Mike Walker has an amazing gift. He has taken the world of our favorite "sexy vampires" and turned it on its heel. There were times I was believing that vampires were real, and hiding in Hollywood.

This book has it all: Sex, Hot Guys, Vampires, Hollywood Gossip, a sexy heroine and a great story...did I mention hot guys?

With just enough humor, romance, action, thrills, and drama to satisfy any reader, this is a book you'll want to TAKE A BITE OUT OF!!!

Out for Blood is an adventurous and crazy tale about a man named Clark (aka Dragomir Craiovescu, but just stick to Clark). Clark is quite the big shot. He is the go-to guy for what's what in Hollywood. He makes a living revealing everyone's secret. Thing is, only a handful know his...he's a vampire. He uses his powers to get the information he needs on all the hottest stars. One in particular he has his sights on is Hollywood train wreck, Taylor Logan. Taylor is a hot mess that does what she wants, when she wants. This is why trouble seems to follow her due to her. Things really get nuts when her rival, Roma, may be involved in a plot to ruin Taylor. On top of all of that, someone seems to be gunning for Clark and his empire. Clark is more than pissed to say the least.

This read was a lot of fun. Clark was an absolute riot of a lead. He was witty, funny, irreverent, and so much fun. He is not your typical vampire and he says so. I loved his jokes, both the good and bad ones. It was always funny when he pointed out the corny ones. I loved learning about his past life. His life has been fun and also very scary. I love when we saw someone appear from his past he thought was long dead. This was interesting because we saw a different side to Clark. We see he can be a really scary.

Taylor was an interesting lead as well. She is a talented, young Hollywood actress who basically lives in rehab (love Clark's explanation of what rehab is really for. It does make me wonder). After a night a nightclub that goes south, Taylor is stalked by some paparazzi photographer. What she doesn't know and what Clark does, is that he was a werewolf. Mostly all paparazzi are werewolves and Taylor just had a run in with one. Clark saves her and she wants to become what he is, but he won't turn her. He knows someone is after her and he wants to find out who. He even happens to be falling for her.

The story is quick and full of a lot of energy. Once you start, you will have a hard time stopping. Even if celebrity gossip isn't your thing, Walker makes it very funny and adds a lot of mystery to the mix. I love that even with the paranormal twist, this story felt quite authentic. I love that it wasn't afraid to get to the nitty gritty. The characters are full of life (so to speak) and I had a blast with them all. I even loved the villains in this book. Roma was absolutely awful. Everyone connected to her was insane specifically her grandpa, Montague. He did crack me up though.

Walker is well known for his journalism skills and it shows. He really knows the ins and outs of Hollywood. But the best part of this book was learning about Clark. The book lets us delve into his past and getting a taste of the kind of person he is. I enjoyed him a lot. This is not your average vampire read and Walker does point that out quite a bit. I love how he debunks a lot of the vampire myths we grew up on. Walker has given us something familiar with the world of Hollywood and yet something unique with his vampire world. The story is told from Clark’s (not his real name) point of view and better because of it. I enjoyed his snarky (gonad jolt!) sense of humor. Seeing through his eyes was just plain fun. He is quite the man-whore but what else is there to do as the centuries pass? He is pretty bad-ass especially when it comes to defending himself. He takes us on a journey through his past; all the blips on his radar over the many years. Clark has hobnobbed with “old Hollywood” such as Astaire, Hayworth, Gable, Grant, Bogart. He was friends with James Dean. Clark truly mourned when after his tragic death. Clark is not an unfeeling monster. He feels deeply which is obvious in the truths he shared. At one point, he comes in contact with someone from his past. It is a part of his past he never thought he would see again.

Taylor Logan dubbed TayLo is an actress who lives fast and hard. She is young, reckless. She has got it bad for Clark although he doesn’t appear to have the same feelings initially. She wants to jump into bed but Clark realizes someone is out to get her. But who? and why? Clark is determined to figure it out. He thinks it might be someone close to her. Clark slowly but surely uncovers the truth. In the process, he falls for Taylor.

Montague Clark is disgusting but damn funny. Roma Kane is an uber-bitch bent on destroying Clark. She is perfect to hate on. She is truly ruthless but Clark one-ups her consistently. She is livid each time. I loved how Clark chose to punish them, very clever.

The plot is fast-paced. We go from one thing to the next quickly. It flows well. Out For Blood is an action filled book. There is a little bit of sex thrown into the mix; nothing too racy.

In the end Clark played the better game; he is a master. There is an epic fight near the end.

Out for Blood would make a really cool movie. I think it most appeals to adult men and women. I am not sure about young adults though; parents might want to read it first. The book is, bottom line, an enjoyable read. ...more

There were even some personas mentioned that caught my attention for they were too familiar to me, especially when I checked the gossip columns online and in print, and yeah, they were there!

This is a book about Hollywood gossips going round and Mike Walker did not mince words. Even when at times he totally lost his political correctness, it still came out funny. From gossiping about the stars of Hollywood and their (??private and anonymous??) sex lives all the way to la loca's Rehab dates. It was one glorious entertainment.

I have heard thate old description of journalists being vultures-in-disguise so I absolutely loved the author's claiming paparazzis are, IN FACT, werewolves! They DO act like a rogue pack at times - all growling, salivating and rabid (complete with locked jaw symptoms) in their own sweet foe-tog way.

Clark is an old-world vampire, from his roots (trace back all the way to the Count folks) to the way he struts or glides into bedrooms. Reminded me a bit of how Frank Langella came into rooms, gracefully flicking his silken cape aside. Stylish. His fighting instincts and techniques. Bestial. Quite a juxtaposition but it worked.

I find myself surprised all the time. At the most unexpected of moments, I bark-laugh. Oh my. Then I realized: oh heck, he's in love with la loca!? Truth revealed, oh dear, truth revealed. Shaking head in surprise, disappointment, or is it admiration? I have no idea, but rest assured: me like!

Then a shift: shades of Love At First Bite: I love the night life.....I gotta boogie.....on the disco 'round....oh yeah!

I could go on and on but it would just spoil the whole book for those who have sadly not read this yet. Spoilers I have revealed, maybe, but take it this way: this was a fantastic, hilarious, bark-laugh-out-loud kinda book. And here I will stop and just plain enjoy.

Vampires are definitely real and living in Hollywood!! Or so I hear :)

Out For Blood was a total riot! I have always loved Mike Walker having listened to him for years on the radio delivering his own unique gossip anecdotes. Already knowing his voice and delivery, picturing Clark with Mike's voice just sealed the deal for me.

And the story is Clark's POV. Brassy, cocky, abrasive, jaded, and a vampire who is a gossip columnist.

Come on, how unique is that! It is so Mike Walker!

My first thought when I started this book is that just from the style of writing, i could tell it was written by an older man with very strong links to Hollywood rather than someone who has sat and read gossip columns online. It's a very dry humoured and cynical book and I LOVED it!

This was a really hilarious and fun read! The writing style was so entertaining and always "on" -- moving seamlessly from action to intrigue to romance (all with a lot of vampire goodness thrown in)!

Right off he begins with Clark getting interviewed as a name in Hollywood and he also has a secret he is not dying to tell. I am soooo not into the gossip scene. I've never picked up a copy of the Enquirer, and I don't watch E! or Access Hollywood. That said, I couldn't help but get sucked into the bawdy, cut-throat world that is Hollywood gossip according to Mike Walker. In Out for Blood, he has woven together an over-the-top tale of sex, murder, greed and lust, then wrapped it together with a brand of humor that borders on social-commentary.

Not for me. DNF at about 44%. Started off quite good, entertaining, but it was the same joke over and over and got boring, and I found the characters getting on my nerves, even when the plot picked up and had a few interesting twists, I just didn't feel like finishing it.
