Christy Lynn Foster's Grip of Mortality is a breath-taking paranormal fantasy of the highest quality. The beautifully written story centres around the Cortez clan of wereleopards, five sisters and their mother as they strive to remove a curse placed on them by their Father's clan. Christy's unique style paints a stunning picture on every page and exudes class with every word. It made me wonder if the author was a wereleaopard herself? Her descriptions left me breathless and gasping for more. It ...more

Grip of Mortality is the first in a series about the Cortez sisters, a family of wereleopards fighting for their lives against their own father. The first book tells the story of Rozar, the sister with the ability to see the truth about an area or a person just by touch. When she meets Shade, one of her father’s lackies, her whole world turns upside down. With Moreno hot on the borders of their land, Rozar must choose whether she will fight with her family or take a break to follow her heart.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review from LoP.

I really enjoyed this book! The author did a great job building this mystical world of shifters! Foster kept me interested from page one and I couldn't put this book down until the very last page. Which then, of course, I immediately picked up book 2 in the series Tone of Betrayal.

Mira is a great lead character. She is badass, strong, and fiery! She is very entertaining to read about, and her love story is very sweet. I believe thi

This is the second book by this author that I've reviewed, not to mention the short stories I've read. Grip of Mortality is centered around the four Cortez sisters, all of which are wereleopards and armed with powers tied to their names (four senses). The sisters and their mother, Clara, are an exiled queen and princesses because King Moreno chose to believe that Clara was using him for his power and then is seduced by a witch who took his powers away. Though exiled, Moreno believes them (along ...more

Rozar Cortez is a gorgeous beautiful woman. Could it be her incandescent ocean blue eyes, or her porcelain skin that is smooth and fair? Or was it the magenta hair that blew in silky strands within the wind that catches Shade Nakos attention. On a mission to investigate the Cortez sisters and their mother by their unlikely enemy, their father Moreno, was a task that he had accepted. Unfortunately, he had no idea that this chance meeting with Rozar as he hid on perch hidden in the trees, would al ...more

Absolutely amazing. This book was everything I knew this series would be. I am totally in love with this family of five girls who have such devotion to their mother as well as to one another. They remind you what Family is all about. United through thick and thin. The characters are so vivid that they jump off the page and you see the movie in front of your eyes while reading. I swear I could feel Shade's dreads when he kissed me in the kitchen. Deep sigh. Man that was good. I don't think I have ...more

I have had the pleasure of reading C.L.Foster's newest book Grip of Mortality. It is a continuation of the story of the Cortez family who are Wereleopard Shifters. This family of 5 daughters and Mother are the women we wish and hope we are. They are determined, fiesty and lucky in finding gorgeous mates. They present a United front battling the curse placed upon their family by their father's family.
The book is funny, spicy and hot.

Grip of Mortality is the first book in The Imprint Series by the always wonderful C.L. Foster. The series follows the five Cortez sisters--Mira, Rozar, Audire, Nidor, and Saber (and honestly, how frickin' awesome are those names?), and centers on them trying to rid themselves of their dickhead *insert inappropriate line of profanity here* father, Moreno, and step-mother, Celeste. I won't say anymore than that because ***spoilers*** and that's just a bi

I quickly fell in love with this book!! I'm really into the whole were-creatures that seems to be really popular lately and this book did NOT disappoint. But first before discussing the book, I think the cover is simply amazing and definitely gush worthy!!! Okay, now, Grip of Mortality centers around the Cortez family that has been exiled from their own home because of their power-hungry husband

I'm really not great at writing reviews, so I will do my best with this one.

Well people, C.L. Foster has done it again. She has a gift of bringing the skeptics towards the paranormal world. I am usually NOT a fan of paranormal fiction because I tend to like things that are faced in everyday life. I guess I'm a bit too logical and scientific to believe in vampires, werewolves and things of that nature. After reading her first book Bluffing the Devil, it kind of gave me the key to the paranormal w

Grip of Mortality follows the Cortez sisters and their mama Clara. It's your classic good versus psycho evil. Blood against blood and all that over the rule of a kingdom.

This has to be one of the strangest shifter books I have ever read in my life. Strange in a good way. There's so much mixed shifter lore from different regions woven so beautifully together the can easily forget that it's just lore.

I really like how the characters developed with the story. Each daughter is as different and uniqu

I really loved this book from CL Foster. It is the first in the Imprint Series and I am looking forward to the next one. I really like the way the book starts with a short story called Endangered. It is about one of the five sisters, Mira, and her mate Vander. But it also introduces you to all five sisters that are all wereleopards. I love these cat shifters. The Grip of Mortality story is really about the bond of the five sisters. Each one has an enhanced sense. They are sight, hearing, touch, ...more

After reading Endangered as a short story in a previously published booked I was hooked on the Cortez family and eagerly waited for more stories of these wereleopards to be published! C.L. Foster is my favorite indie author by far and one of my favorite authors over all. I've had a chance to read a great deal of her works and have had the pleasure of watching her writing skills get better and better with each published book! Grip of Mortality follows five very unique and expressive sisters with ...more

I’ve recently had the wonderful pleasure of reading Grip of Mortality, the latest release from the wonderful Author C.L. Foster. What can I say, I really loved this book. It’s sweet, funny, sexy and action packed and will certainly leave you desperately wanting the next installment. The Cortez sisters are all you could ask for in a group of feisty Wereleopards and their mates are super sexy too. The book starts with the novella, Endangered and then continues with the main story. Mira is one of five sisters in a very special family. She and each of her sisters were blessed with a gift. Each sister has one enhanced sense: sight, hearing, touch, smell and taste. They are also wereleopards and daughters of the king of the wereleopards, but he has rejected them and even declared them his enemies. The girls and their mother live alone in the jungle and are happy to keep to themselves. But their father sees them as a threat to his rule and wants them gone, so they must fight t ...more

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review via Lovers of Paranormal.

This is a difficult review to write. I really enjoyed the book but also found it frustrating at times.

I liked Mira's story - right at the start of the book and then it just 'stopped' and started again almost as though it was a completely separate book tacked on the front (I gathered afterwards that it was, indeed, something like that). It threw me out of my stride with the book though. I also found it very inconsist

'Grip of Mortality' pulled me in from the beginning and didn't let go. The storyline was well thought out and the way it played out was great. Well written. The cover is beautiful. I liked how the story was full of awesome characters with humor and some kick-ass skills. Each character was so different and had a unique set of skills. I loved the banter between the sisters and their bond to one another. This book

He had made them leave with their mother as he has decided they may try to kill him and take over his kingdom. Each girl uses her ability power to overcome evil. The sisters bond together to overcome their evil father. It will not be an easy battles there will be loves made and loss of lives. Grip of Mortality

Given as an arc for honest review
Rozar has been dream walking for as long a she remembers. She sees a boy grown into a man. Who is this man and what does he mean to her? Her father the king is trying to kill her and her family (his ex wife and daughters). Problem is everyone thinks he is crazy for trying to mate with another and say it's his queen. Then want to murder his own flesh and blood. What's a shifter leopard to do... fight back against all odds and win. That's what.

I was privileged with being asked by C.L. Foster to read her book Grip of Mortality. It was also the first book of hers. A definite five star.

I loved the story about the sisters how they shift into wereleopards. I love that they fight for good and defeat evil. Not sure how since their father is blood thirty for blood. He is one evil man. The story pulls you in from the first page and it makes you never want to leave.

Grip of Mortality by C.L. Foster is a good read. I was terribly confused most of the way through, but the author brought the story line solidly together in the last few chapters. Upon reflection, it is a very well written story that was intended to be mysterious until the finale. Even the characters seemed to be in a mild state of confusion. The characters are amazing and described very well. I could picture them in all the different forms as the story unfolded.

Amazing job as usual. Cant wait for book 2 of this series. Thanks for the amazing world. If it werent so blood thirsty and scary, I would want to live there. lol

CL is eclectic, geeky, positive, nature-loving and completely non-"normal" (just the way she likes to be). She has been a fan of literature since she was a small child and finally decided to take her dreams (both waking and sleeping!) and do something positive with them.

CL has lived all over the world and has a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, minoring in Psychology and Forensics. Which mean
