Audrey Allen has to be one of my new favorite characters. She's strong, confident, sexy and determined. And Ethan, the bad-boy journalist who is also ambitious, confident and sexy. They are extremely mismatched, but when they come together sparks fly. They are also the kind of characters you can imagine having a drink with. Wonderful debut novel from a writer who is sure to have a long and successful career.

I absolutely loved this book. It wax a fast paved read for me that l could not put down. I love strong females & Audrey certainly fits the bill. I love her. Even with the past that makes the reader need to know more right now! And Ethan? Wow. Talk about HOT! A badboy with a smartass sense of humor. Loved him. This is a fantastic story w/ moments to laugh & cry. What a great read!

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review.
This was an interesting romance. I was worried when I read the description that it would be heavy in politics, and I was glad to find I was wrong. It's interesting when a journalist bent on breaking someone down and destroying them has more respect for the person they're trying to break than that person's own family. I hated half of Audrey's family and the townsfolk even more. I didn't understand why Audrey didn't warn the reporter ...more

Contemporary romance with more women’s fiction laced throughout. This one was all about Audrey. She all about who she is. She was strong, level headed, independent, secure, confident, determined and herself. Ethan was the man that felt he had to take her down a few pegs to make his mark. The read gave you the people to love, to fall in love with, to dislike, to despise, to want to rally around and those to just ignore. I found Audrey to be the strong heroine that had much going for her but famil

STORY-LINE AUDREY'S PROMISE:
Although classified as a romantic suspense novel, the reader finds much more in Audrey's Promise. Author Susan Sheehey filled this novel with emotion, suspense, and intrigue. Audrey Allen's poised at the pinnacle of success. Running for senate in the great state of Texas, if elected Audrey, aka the Peacemaker, would be the youngest member elected. Supporting the establishment/funding for a much-needed crisis center as well as running for office, Audrey has a busy life ...more

Audrey's campaign was in full swing and she's decided to go back to her hometown for awhile. She knew things would be difficult there, but Audrey felt it was time to be part of her family again. The voters called her 'The Peacemaker' and she hoped it worked in her favor when she reached home. To add to her stress, an investigative reported asks to tag along. Audrey didn't want her secret to be told.

This was a fun, quick read. Although the story was a little predictable, I loved getting to know the characters and I was intrigued to see how the drama would play out.
The mystery behind Audrey's departure from her hometown kept the story alive, and kept me on the edge of my seat. Sheehey dropped little hints as to what the tragedy was that happened a decade before, but she threw in a few twists for good measure and I was always kept one step away from the actual truth until it was finally reve ...more

'Audrey's Promise' by Susan Sheehey is a poignant story about a young woman trying to erase the errors of the past by fulfilling dreams, not necessarily her own, in the future.
This book touched me deeply, and I admit that I did shed a few tears during my read.

Susan will have you on the edge of your seat waiting to see what happens next. Audrey is a amazing woman. The way the town treated her after the accident is really awful. When Ethan wants to do a story about her she tells him no because of stories he has written about other people. Ethan is totally shocked by the way Audrey's family and the town treat her. What Ethan does for her at the end of the story is truly wonderful. This book deserves a higher rating than a five star review. I had the hon

Audrey's Promise is a keeper. Engaging characters with deep problems keep the story moving forward, while the mystery of exactly what happened to cause an entire town to hate Audrey Allen creates a page turner.

The plot's a little far-fetched and the Big Secret is not as stunning as I'd hoped--but nonetheless a fun and absorbing read.

Man, this gave me the feels. I'm surprised by how much I liked this because I sincerely dislike politics and reporters, but by the time I finished, I was already making it my current favorite of the year. I'm an (urban) fantasy girl, but reading this really made me go through the emo-mill. Ethan is a hot journalist with tons of charisma and no morality, so when he decides to make Audrey his next meal ticket to New York, there ...more
