The writer clearly clarifies the extent of our knowledge of 'humans' before humanity, it is a very good book if you want to have a solid understanding in relying on evolutionary approaches to answering questions on humanity.

Não é uma descrição dos passos que levaram à evolução dos macacos africanos até o homem engravatado. Foley aponta os possíveis "porquês" que levaram à evolução do homem moderno a partir das diferenças anatômicas, genéticas e comportamentais entre os fósseis que mostram as espécies intermediárias. É um livro leve, escrita simples, o que faz com que o livro seja gostoso de ler e ao mesmo tempo instiga a pensar como nós nos tornamos humanos.
