I am slightly biased because I not only love this book, but I have gotten to LIVE this book while being with Ali Dent in her LitClub for the last two years. My children have gained so much more through LitClub than a love for literature, but have gained tools for enjoying and analyzing literature and discussing it with their friends. The LitClub has been invaluable in helping my teen and I stay connected on a different level as we interact with books together. If you have doubts about how you mi ...more

The LitClub is a user friendly/family friendly book that, if used as intended, will provide students with
• a friendly, encouraging environment in which to make friends and discuss ideas,
• a list of great, classic books to read over a year's time,
• tools to reinforce vocabulary and writing, and
• a nicely finished notebook and materials that can serve as a literature credit (especially for the home educated family).

Having been involved with Ali's Lit clubs for several years, separating the b

I enjoyed Ali's book and her idea. I've worked with teens twice in my life in a capacity that I could have used some of these ideas. One when I was a library tech and ran a group we called The Peanut Gallery where we did bookish things, unfortunately my husband got orders to Japan so I couldn't work with them more. The second time was when I worked at a Teen Center and we just never got around to the book club we'd planned. I think these are fabulous ideas and can be used for a lot of situations ...more

The Lit Club... what an awesome idea to help our kids get more engaged in reading and understanding literature in a fun way. Ali has hit the nail on the head with this book. She provides step by step instructions on how to get a lit club up and running. From book suggestions to club meeting ideas. She covers all bases even telling some great stories about the Lit Club she ran. I was so jealous of those families I wanted to be in her Lit Club!!! This book is perfect for not only Homeschool famili ...more

Want to make reading fun? Need a new curriculum? Try the Lit Club! It was a fun easy read, with great ideas and even sample lessons! It is a great option for homeschooling groups, or groups of friends. As a mom I suggested giving this book a try if you even think you might someday be able to use it. That's what I did, and now can't wait for that time to come!

The LitClub develops a great idea... Combine a fun, social 'book club'with a (usually boring) 'literature class,' and you can create something new and engaging that could get my kids (and me) excited about reading and learning the classics. Many of the things I want to do with my kids, I don't, because I don't know where to start and how to continue. The LitClub provides the pattern and instruction to form and run your own LitClub, which solves those problems.
We homeschool, so I'm excited tha

Do you love to read? Wouldn't you want to instill that love of reading into your children? And have fun at the same time... if yes you need to get your hands on The Lit Club.
This book is a fun filled and accessible read for all ages which can help bridge the gap most parents feel nowadays. Lit Club has great ideas and even sample lessons to introduce to homeschooling groups, and/or groups of students inland out of the school environment; by expanding their minds, making them work and think outsi
