A figure from Dexter’s past has uprooted all the memories he has tried so desperately to bury… to forget. The terrible events of his past have been blown wide open once again, immersing him a pool of guilt deeper than he’s even experienced before.

Dexter feels powerless. The future he foolishly allowed himself to conceive is falling apart around him and there’s nothing he c

Perfect plot for a sequel to the beautiful love story of Dex and Em.

Woah! Hold on Tight was one hell of an emotional ride for me. I didn't expect to be so connected to the series as much as I am right now.

Dex, a recovering addict from Take My Hand was haunted yet again by his demons. And the toll? His relationship with Emily.

Nicola Haken, this time, got me through Emily's head. On the first book, I loved Dexter's POV but on this one, I adored Em's hands down! Her character was portrayed strongly

“Addiction can’t be cured, only controlled.”

Hold On Tight starts where Take My Hand left and we are throw right into everything with no stopping.

Dexter and Emily are in the states still and are not confronted with a problem Dex never wanted to face – his father. Dex swears he is in control of his addiction. He promises that he won’t run anymore.

Emily promises Dex that she will never leave his side. They will tackle whatever problems they face, together.

Dex runs. Emily leaves. Dex falls right

Nicola Haken officially broke me to pieces with Hold On Tight. After tearing my heart to shreds, putting it back together, the book then lured me in a cosy, happy and warm safety, right before ripping my heart back out and doing a little tap dance on it. If you considered the last book heart-wrenching, better find a good therapist now. You'll need one.

The story picks up where "Take My Hand" left off - after the big bang, the fallout. Dexter is confronted with his past and his darkest moments. No

***I was given An Arc in exchange for an honest review***

Let me start off with saying that I LOVED the first book in this series, Take My Hand. So I was so excited to start Hold On Tight. With the way Take My Hand ending on a bit of a cliffy, I was excited to see what was in store for Dexter and Emily. Luckily I didn’t have to wait and immersed myself into Hold On Tight.

OMG!!! I was SHATTERED while reading Hold On Tight. I hated seeing the characters, which I have invested so much of my time and

Nicola Haken has undoubtedly taken my breath away with both Take My Hand (Taking Chances, #1) and Hold On Tight (Taking Chances, #2). I have fallen under her spell and I am completely committed to finishing this series and any other books she releases!!! These books are raw and gritty. They’re incredibly real and oftentimes ugly. The struggles both Emily and Dexter endure make these books both beautiful and heartbreaking. I went through a roller coaster ride of emotions while facing som

Hold On Tight is the second book in this series. I fell in love with Dexter and Emily and their relationship in Take My Hand, which is the first book. We were able to see Em let down her guard and allow Dex into her heart, even after he took her back to America and shared his secrets about his mother. The first book ended as his mother died and we were left wondering if Dex would be able to handle the guilt and pressure without going back to his drugs that he used to escape. First, I want to come out and say that I absolutely LOVED the first book in this series, Take My Hand. Yes, it had some minor angst, but what NA burgeoning-love story doesn’t? So when the last book ended on a bit of a cliffhanger, I had been waiting not so patiently for this installment to come out.

So I dove right in and….

Put it back down. I couldn’t read it. It was really, really difficult to read. Mind you, not because there was anything wrong wit

Wow! What a powerful story full of hope, despair, grief, and love.

Emily and Dexter are in for the fight of their lives. Only three months into their relationship and Emily is trying to hold on to Dexter while he battles through a dangerous drug addiction. Her friendship with Rachel is on the rocks and she feels like she’s losing her soul mate. Recent events have brought Dexter back into the past he worked so hard to escape. He cannot break free of the guilt that drives him to numb the pain with

What another fabulous book in this series! There is angst, love, friendships, family, shocking revelations and more that will capture you heart until the end.

Emily is an amazing girlfriend. She's supportive and there for Dexter. She's in America trying to fight, save and work with Dexter on things. His Aunt also is quite supportive and kind to her which is wonderful and she becomes basically her "mom" in a sense. However, their trip is full of heartache and pain some which Emily knew she would e

This is the continued story of Emily and Dexter from Take My Hand. It picks up where the first book left off. It's written in the same dual POV but this one seems to concentrate more on Dexter's side than Emily's which I really like. It's something about being inside the guy's head that makes a story so much more enjoyable to me! Nicola Haken has become one of my favorite authors as I read this series. I love how she has the character seem as if the reader is right there beside them and they're ...more

Hold Me Tight is one those deep books. This story is heavy in the sense that it deals with some pretty serious issues and they are not sugar coated.

I read some reviews about this book before I started reading it and people who have read the first book in the series, Take My Hand, are sort of disappointed that Emily and Dexter’s good friends don’t play as large of a role in this book. I understand where they are coming from, I too missed the friendship and banter between the group. For this porti

This book is definitely worth holding on tight…

It is amazing. It is brilliant. It is indescribable. In fact, there are literally no worthy words for it. I am awed and dumbfounded by Nicola’s talent and writing. I loved Saving Amy and Take my hand, but Hold on tight is the best book she has written (that I’ve read so far, at least!).

What can I say? I LOVE the story of Dexter and Emily. Hold On Tight is the second amazing story in the Take My Hand series. This story continues right where Take My Hand left off and the main focus is on Dexter in this novel. This book delves into Dexter's childhood and we get a glimpse into what he went through as a child and the torment his Mom endured as well, which explains his reaction to seeing his father after so many years. Emily and Aunt Sarah try to help Dexter cope with his demons. Th ...more

The story of struggle and addiction is brought to you in such a real way that you will feel the struggles and emotions the characters are experiencing. Dexter has to be the most infuriating character in a long time. I constantly found myself screaming at my kindle at his actions. Now that is out the way, this is the continuation of Emily and Dexter's story, picking up exactly where 'Take My Hand' finished. This is my 5 star review for Hold on Tight by Nicola Haken for Eskimo Princess Book Reviews.

Hold on Tight picks up where Take my Hand left off. Dexter is hanging on by a thread. He is lost, broken, and pulling away from everyone and everything that he loves. Loved book 1...Book 2 was amazing.

Holy god, this book was very deep with the subject it was dealing with(don't want to spoil it for anyone). Dex has really suffered throughout his 24years and he deals with the way he's always dealt with things but at what cost. He has so many levels he's not a straight forward guy, he's very complicated. He has a few shocks to deal with within this book but finds a different way to deal. Nice to see

So if 4.5 stars was an option, I would totally be there! This book picks right up where "Take My Hand" leaves off. We see a lot of Dexter and how he is handling himself and watching Emily try to be there for him. This was the only part that was kind of hard to get through. I wanted more connection between Emily and Dexter, but I understand what Dex was going through and that was where the focus was. I think I just kind of missed that connection between them. I loved this book even more than the first. Emily and Dexter's relationship is one to admire. This book focused more on their lives together in America with Dexter's Aunt. Dexter's addiction took a turn for the worst & dangerous in this book. At one point i couldn't even imagine how he could get his life back on track. Wow, what an amazing read. I thought the first book was good but this one blew me away. Dexter and Emily continue to take your heart and kick the hell out of it, I really wondered where this book would end. Ok, I'll admit I was scared how this book would end.

This is the second book in the series. I truly loved Emily and Dexter in the first book. The ability for them to open up to each other and find love. But, Emily knows that there are more secrets in Dexter's life. More than he has been able to share with her.

Going to America with Dexter to deal with the demons of his past is not what Emily had thought. To find out the history of his mother and the guilt that he has been dealing with is pushing both of them. Emily just wants to love Dexter, wants

Ms Haken really knows her subject matter. She writes with pure conviction about a very difficult subject.

This is a much darker read than the first book as it is dealing with his addiction. The raw emotion from them both, pours out of the pages.

Again I really can't fault anything about this book and it really deserves the 5 stars I have given it for the writing style, the portrayal of the subject matter and the very true to life depiction of the characters' feelings.
