Gaby thought her life couldn’t get more complicated.

She’s almost used to the idea that she’s not the nineteen-year-old backpacker she thought she was. She can just about cope with being one of the Rephaim - a 140-year-old half-angel - whose memories have been stolen. She’s even coming to grips with the fact that Jude, the brother she’s mourned for a year, didn’t die at all

Beautiful, imaginative, seductive, addictive.
This story always leaves me breathless and begging for more.

Aaaaarh, such a wonderful frustration!
I must confess that this series is killing me slowly, because how in the world am I going to wait for god-knows-how-long until the last one comes out?

It’s not like this is a more cruel ending compared to the last one (you know the drill: heart-breaking, gut-wrenching, hair-pulling), but the thing is that it left me with the most important question un

I am a bit obsessed with this series. Its embarrassing how much.

I thought this book came out today, forgetting it may be different for kindle release, and I got up an hour early (5am!!!) so I could read some.

Never thought a YA angel book could hook me/devestate me like this!

I want it to be much bigger than this dog's ears. :

Have you started this series yet? Because if you haven’t, you must go now and pick up the first books because I promise you will become as obsessed about it as I have.
I have to admit that I hadn’t written a review for this book since reading it but my comment when finishing this was

The night spins around me. Three more blasts--I feel them through my palms. The cloisters shimmer, orange and yellow. Something metallic coats my tongue. There's grit in my mouth. I try to focus on the building ahead, but the image won't sharpen. And then I understand.

The commissary is on fire.

Once again, Paula Weston manages to throw me back into the world of the Rephaim like I was there just yesterday; when actually, it's been more than a year since I picke
I have been dying to get my hands on the 3rd book of the Rephaim series ever since Haze officially turned the Rephaim series into my favourite angel series ever. My expectation for Shimmer was crazy high, I missed those characters and so needed to hang out again. I was coming off the back off a major book slump when Shimmer finally arrived -- making my hopes even higher for the perfect reading escape (also placing pressure on Shimmer to deliver). You guys, it 100% does not disappoint.

I, like many fans, awaited the release of Shimmer eagerly after the cliffhanger at the end of Haze but when Shimmer came out, I was hesitant to pick it up. It’s not that I hadn’t loved the previous two books but the problem was that I couldn't go through a whole other book without getting answers. So many questions have been raised and I felt like there just weren't enough answers to satisfy me. I was all set to wait until Burn came out to read this one but then Jasprit gifted me a copy and give ...more
Wow just wow. What have I just read? After reading Shadows and Haze I knew that Paula Weston could write a suspenseful read, but with Shimmer, she just took it up a whole another notch.

Once again I was dying to get some answers in Shimmer, we had been left on tenterhooks since Shadows and also the way that Haze had ended I was taking deep breaths waiting for good news to come through. In the previous books Pan Beach was the centre setting, but I’m glad that Weston decided to base the novel large

Re-read so I can hurry up and get to Burn. :)

Also, I just realized I never reviewed it, so maybe I'll actually do that this time around. :P

Having now read this series in its entirety, I think I can safely say this was my favorite out of them all. Of course, I loved each and every book with every fiber of my being, but I loved how the Rephaim had to come together in this book. Okay, I'm lying...I love how Rafa and Gaby came together in this book, lol.

Still, there's just something about s

***Series (books 1-3) Spoiler-Free Review***

Friends have been pushing this series on me for the last year or so, and I'm so glad I finally listened. I was supposed to spread my reading out over the month of April, but I think it took me two days to read the first book and just a day each for the last two. Seriously, I couldn't put them down. I had to know what happened next. Which is the reason I've now found myself in #readerproblems hell: there's still one book left, and Shimmer (book 3) left

Shimmer continues only moments where Haze ended, with Rafa and Taya being imprisoned and Gaby desperate to save them both. Where previous book in the series were fast paced and energetic, Shimmer seems to delve more into it's characters of both the Sanctuary, Outcasts and the hierarchy of Angelic lore. It's the first time the Outcasts have returned to the Sanctuary since the group walked out over ten years ago, leaving their fellow Rephaim and Gaby behind.

All of my previous reviews for this series have been singing praises from the roof tops and this review will be no different. Paula Weston has created an absolutely amazing series that just gets better and better with each installment. I don't know how she does it and I hope she continues to delight her readers for more years to come!

The first thing I have to say is that I love how Paula started the book with a quick prologue that recapped the previous two books. It's not an in depth recap, but

Okay, not sure where to start so I'm just going to start rambling and hope this turns into a kick ass review. *wishmeluck*

This is the third book in one of my most favorite (I feel like I should type "favourite" in honor of the Aussie author) series, The Rephaim. Stop now and go read Shadows, if you haven't already, then go read Haze, then... you get the picture. But, at some point, come back here and tell me what you think about Shimmer and cry with me over the wait for the last book.

I’m completely new to this series! This series has been raved about by a couple of my book blogger friends, so when I saw Tundra Books had a blog tour for Shimmer I figured it was the perfect time to finally start this series!

I began reading this book with some trepidation because my expectations were so high - but thank you Paula - you have not disappointed me.

Secrets are exposed as we are drawn further into the world of the Rephaim but Paula keeps teasing us to keep reading! I love the way she has managed to flesh out each of her characters whilst maintaining the humour, pace and action. Oh and the romance isn't too bad either.

That ending .... really ... how long do I have to wait now for the next installment?

DNF at 50%.

Why must I do this to myself?! I should have stopped at book 1....but nay....I carried on to book 3! I just wanted to know what the deal was with Rafa. This book consisted of too much talking and not enough doing. It was a constant dialog of characters talking and debating about what they were going to do. So boring. Painfully boring. This gets zero stars from me because I officially quit.
That...ending! Not exactly a cliffhanger, but it does feel like it! Especially with that last two sentences! O.o

P.S. I hope the last book is longer(view spoiler)

Shimmer, I find, is my least favorite edition of this series to date. When the weakest link in a quartet still manages to pull off 4 Stars effortlessly, though, you've certainly found an undisputed winner among novels.

Weston's strength, as always, lies in her flawless execution of plot but, even more, in her mastery of characterization. With Rafa out of sight in  Shimmer , it becomes all the more imperative to tie these characters together and define their relationships. Jude a

If there is one Aussie author I feel needs more international recognition - it's Paula Weston. After finishing Shimmer, I can't suppress the urge to tell everyone I know just how great a series the Rephaim books are.

Gaby has had an eventful few weeks. For the past year she has tried to make a life for herself in Pandanus Beach. She has a best friend, Maggie, a job she enjoys and she is trying to come to terms with her grief after her twin brother died in a car accident. But Gaby's memories were

This time Rafa's not coming to save me; this time, I have to save him.

I'm so glad that I started reading this series after this third book was out because the ending of book number two pretty much killed me. Left me hanging, brah!

So, in this book we have Jude and Gaby together, but Rafa is being held and tortured. Or dead. They aren't sure, but they know it's very very bad. Jude and Gaby still can't get over the fact that something had happened that kept them from each other for 10 years. Th
O MY GOD ... this series just keeps getting better! Every time I read one of Paula Weston's books I don't think they will be better than the last but she always proves me wrong. Like I've said before

“Calm down," Rafa says.
"Yeah," I say, "because you're an expert at patience."
"Which is why I look to you to set the example."
"Oh, fuck off.”
“I knew this was still here somewhere." He pulls a knife from the back of the drawer, takes it out of its sheath and shines the torch on it. I move closer until our shoulders touch.
"That's beautiful," I whisper.
"You gave this to me."
I take the knife. It's heavier than I expect. "Please, tell me it was a gift and not something I stabbed you with.”
