Author Gordon D. Shirreffs, winner of the Spur and Owen Wister awards, is beloved for creating characters and stories of the old American West that excite the senses and satisfy the itch to be a gunslinger.
In The Hidden Rider of Dark Mountain , Cade Willcox had only been in the Valley of the Bravo for a couple of days, but two attempts have already been made on his life. He isn’t afraid of a fight, but the trouble is he doesn’t know who the fight is with. Meanwhile, his brother is stirring up a ruckus with the Apaches when he winds up in a canyon by Dark Mountain—murdered.
In Shadow of a Gunman , Thorp Barrett is only seventeen and hasn’t seen much of life, but he’s already had his fill of death. As the kid brother of a notorious outlaw, Thorp already knows most of the tricks of the gunslick trade. The day that U.S. Marshal Doug Scott wipes out the Barrett gang, he’s the only one to escape with his life. But Thorp has only merely taken a rain check from the Grim Reaper—for when he inherits his brother’s notched guns, he takes on blood-oath to track Marshal Scott down to Boot Hill…and send him packing.
Embark on thrilling Western adventures that ignite the wild spirit within as Gordon D. Shirreffs paints tales of danger, revenge, and honor in the untamed American frontier.
“The joy of reading Shirreffs is in his mastery of pacing and his tough, gritty prose.” —James Reasoner, New York Times bestselling author
I found THE HIDDEN RIDER OF DARK MOUNTAIN and SHADOW OF A GUNMAN really interesting, they both held my interest and were good reading. They both had action and were very descriptive of details. I could almost imaginer myself with them. I really enjoyed both books.
