I’m a huge fan of the paranormal genre, yet this is the first book I have read that focuses on the magic of necromancy. Ruby is a well-known necromancer among her supernatural community.
Since both her grandmother and mother were also necromancers, Ruby knows about her powers and has grown up among other supernatural entities secretly living among humans: witches, demons, vampires, and werewolves. Necromancers are a rarity in this world and differ from other paranormals because they have never be

A mix of paranormal romance and urban fantasy, The Necromancer's Seduction is a welcome addiction to a fluid genre.

Characters and plot show that you can get some novelty even in a crowded field as this is. The heroine is a necromancer, loathed and coveted for her power, who has left her world to go looking for normalcy. Until of course she's compelled to go back to the Supe world.
And here starts her story in this book.

There are of course the usual caveat of UF: a heroine who reveals herself t

Review to come as part of the book tour. SO ENJOYABLE. I'm so glad I signed up for this one. The ending leaves it open for more books and HELL YES I WANT MORE. Okay, that's it. Review to come! *******************

I'm a supernatural/paranormal/fantasy/romance/crime junkie. I admit it. This book satisfied every itch of my needs. From a bitchy witchy dear friend to a sexier than hell demon to the gore of zombies, this book kept me turning the pages to read on. I liked all of the characters from Ada

I liked the way this author was able to delve into her heroine's psyche. I felt like I was walking in her shoes, fighting her battles, and feeling her angst. Not sure when the sequel will be released but will buy it for sure. ...more

The Necromancer's Seduction follows a woman named Ruby who is a professor. She teaches anthropology and lives a pretty quiet life. If she didn't, she knows she would go mad. Ruby is a necromancer who hates to use her powers. Yet she is always asked from the fae to Ninjas (yes, Ninjas) to bring back the dead for any reason under the sun. She never gives in though until danger strikes. When her

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This story was filled with a fun new world of supernaturals that sucked me in from the beginning. Ruby was a great tough chick reluctant hero. The book was filled with enough smut and demon dude hotness to keep the pages turning, too. It was a great combination that is sure to win me over - adult contemporary paranormal romance. If you like that sort of this (like I do), then this book will be a fun read.

What a fun read. If I had to chose only one sentence to describe that would be it. It’s a really fun way to start a series. There’s enough to keep everyone entertained. And a good plot line and story to go with it. There’s also plenty of supernatural creatures to go around.

Ruby a necromancer, though not necessarily by choice. She’s actually pretty awesome, but not because she dominantly kicks ass, more like she works for it, and is dedicated enough. I really enjoyed her character. And I also en

A really good urban fantasy novel. The world building was top notch, and the plot was fresh and original. The characters were well written. Ruby, the main character was pretty awesome. A necromancer unsure of her power trying to maintain a normal human life and not get too involved in the supernatural world around her. She was a little attutidey, but not over the top bitchy. Smart and likeable and not over the top powerful. Granted she was supposed to be very powerful but she was unsure of herse ...more

There's a hidden power inside Ruby, something more than the necromancer part of her...and even though she doesn't want it to be discovered some of the events that happen will make it almost unbearable not-knowning

Her grandmother is dead and a serial killer is on the loose the fact that he is a necromancer adding to the unwisful events...Ruby is summoned by the council of the supes to try and solve the problem. With

The Necromancer's Seduction was an entertaining read with just the right amount of action, dialogue and character development.

Ruby, the heroine and reluctant necromancer, was a strong and likable character and her best friend, Kara, a somewhat bitchy witch, was a good addition to the story. Ewan, the demon lust interest, was sexy, charming and protective. I also really enjoyed Adam's character but won't say much about him so I don't spoil anything.

I love books with a little demon romance in the

The Necromancer's Seduction is an entertaining, sexy story. The main character, Ruby, is a necromancer – a supernatural with the ability to raise the dead. After a series of murders within the supernatural community, Ruby is petitioned to raise a murdered witch in order to help find the killer. However, raising the dead is not a simple thing to do and it seems that everything that could go wrong does.

I love a good, strong female lead, and Ruby fits the bill. She is not the outright kick-ass typ

'The Necromancer's Seduction' was a pretty good book. I liked the storyline and how it played out. Full of supernatural beings that are power hungry. Well written. This story held some interesting surprises. The characters were great. Ruby makes a great lead and as surprises unfold, Ruby wii be a force to be reckoned with. Ewan is also quite the demon hunk. I loved the humor that Mimi Sebastian brought into this

I am a fan of the Anita Blake series (ok, I am a former enthusiastic fan current frustrated reader) so when I saw that this book is about a female necromancer who get’s caught up in supernatural madness I was amped. I did like the world the author built, as well as Ruby’s bestie Kara. Unfortunately for me the rest of the book left a lot to be desired. Ewan the romantic interest is the typical brooding, alpha, supernatural male. He decides that Ruby is “his”, rocks her world in the bedroom and sa ...more

The Necromancer's Seduction by Mimi Sebastian is the first book in The Necromancer series. For Professor Ruby Montagne, being a necromancer has brought her nothing but heartache, that is why she turned away from that part of her life. However, her quiet existence in San Francisco is shattered when she stumbles upon the body of a slain witch, and the supernatural community insists she transform him into a revenant to track the killer. But his murder was just the beginning, and Ruby soon realizes ...more

The Necromancer's Seduction

I received a free copy, through LoP on Goodreads, in exchange for a review.

Professor Ruby Montagne has a deep hidden power that most people are unaware of and she's trying to keep it that way. She has tried to remove herself from the supernatural world and continue her life as normal as possible. But, coming across the death of another supernatural draws her back into the community, much to her dismay. Coming back to the community, as one of a handful of extremely powe

Reading this book was enjoyable and informative in regard to the supernatural beings and this author's interpretation of their beliefs, laws, and support systems--particularly, demons, as I hadn't read much about them previously.

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review (Lovers of Paranormal).

This book had a lot of potential. Now, I am fully aware this is targeted for the adult audience due to explicit scenes in some parts. That did bug me slightly since the plot felt more of a teen fiction. The main character, Ruby, isn't very comprehensible some of the time, although she's not weak and doesn't take crap. Ewan is a typical possessive and attractive male lead, but I felt at the end he lost his entire chara

Necromancer's Seduction provides all of the elements of a great paranormal story! The author gives background information about her supernatural universe in a manner that mixes the information with the storyline. There are no stilted paragraphs discussing the history and the types of supernaturals in her universe. There aren't many book series out there about necromancers, and this one does not disappoint.

The heroine has moments when she is annoying, and other moments when she made me feel sympa

I really enjoyed this book. It reminded me of Laurell K Hamilton’s Anita Blake series – before her books descended into random wanton sex for the sake of it. Mimi creates a wonderful character in Ruby who takes on supernatural journey that is definitely open for another book. The sex scenes are classy and carefully placed and some of the zombie descriptions are not only gross buy amusing; for example ‘Damn these zombies and their Lego body parts!’

From a writer’s perspective there wasn’t any new

I wasn't really a fan of this book. I thought the characters were written in an overly familiar way and it was kind of jarring. Like picking up book 2 in a trilogy and having the characters make constant unexplained references to the last book.

The end also leaves you hanging in a way that makes you wonder if you somehow lost the last pages. Not satisfying.

In this world, being a necromancer is an inherited trait and Ruby doesn't want anything to do with it. He

A very good debut novel. This paranormal romance also includes some suspense that involves vampires, witches, werewolves, and a necromancer who is very new to her powers, and she’s already being forced to change some dead people into zombies, making this a pretty enjoyable read. I look forward to reading more from Ms. Sebastian.

Ruby does not want the powers that come with being a necromancer, but there is not too much she can do about them right now except learn to use them. Forced to change a

Mimi Sebastian raised herself on books and the strange and unusual, and an unhealthy dose of comics and movies. When a career as a punk guitarist failed to materialize, she completed her degree in urban planning, spent two years in the Ivory Coast with the Peace Corps, and another three years in Brazil. By day, she debates the merits of transport oriented development, by night she writes about nec ...more
