Pull quote/note
"Knowing that the presence or absence
of wingbars is one of the key field marks in
the identification of Shimmys, the Warp-Winged Shimmy (WWS) has evolved the ability (heta) to vibrate its wings at warp speed (waws), thereby obscuring its wing-bars. We have learned that the (tt) hummingbird can reach rates of 100 bps (beats per second), while the WWS can attain rates of 3,234 vbs (vibrations per second). All this is done while perched (dwp). We think it is (tii) interesting to note (itn) that the WWS takes only about 0.25 seconds to molt (stm). We also tii itn tt WWS heta to eat at 45 chews per second (cps) with simultaneous vs (minus the bs) of its waws." (51)
