Jean E. Syswerda, former associate publisher of Zondervan Bibles, is responsible for many best-selling Bibles and books, including Women of the Bible. While at Zondervan, she led the development of the NIV Women's Devotional Bible, the NIV Teen Study Bible, and the NIV Adventure Bible. She is coauthor of the best-selling Read With Me Bible and is general editor for the Mom's Ordinary Day Bible study series, nominated for a Gold Medallion Award. Jean and her husband, John, have three grown children and six grandchildren.
This has been our bedtime bible story book this year. My daughter is still too young to give her opinion on it, but my husband and I have enjoyed reading her these stories even though she doesn’t understand them yet. Most of them have a mindful aspect to them where whichever character goes to bed and notices the soft grass, cool breeze or the rock of the boat as they fall asleep. Each story isn’t terribly long, usually 1 1/2 pages of text and has beautiful illustrations. We recommend it for a good bedtime bible story book.

There is nothing I’d rather read my kids before bed than Bible stories to fill their little minds with sweet dreams. My Bedtime Story Bible is the perfect bedtime book to teach them Bible stories and ward off bad dreams. If they see or hear anything scary before bed right now they have nightmares so what better way to fill their minds with light and love and peace!
One of my favorite things in this book is the “Tuck In” section on some of the stories. Here it has your child do something like in the story of Sampson to “Stretch out your arms and legs, and thank God for making you strong.” Or in the story of Wise King Solomon to “Ask God to help you sleep well and to make you wise as you grow up.”
Another unique and incredible thing about this book is that each story ends with the main character going to sleep and it says “Good night, Elijah. Good night. Sleep tight.” I love this! It shows my kids that everyone, even grown men serving God, have to go to sleep at night. Bedtime can be such a battle at times and it’s always nice to have something like this to demonstrate to them that they are not being tortured by their parents and everyone in the world must sleep!
Another little detail that I liked is the moon and stars on the corners of the pages that don’t have illustrations. It just sets the tone for night nights as we call it in my house!
My Bedtime Story Bible is another hit from Zonderkidz. I’m always impressed with the unique elements they add to their storybooks.

From Moses, to Daniel, to Baby Jesus your child will be delighted as well as you with the Old & New Testament stories. Told in soothing tones. This is a wonderful way to introduce your little ones to the Bible. A true keepsake and treasure!
Well written with beautiful illustrations. At the end of each chapter or story you have a " Tuck in" or prayer. I absolutely adore this book! A perfect gift. Thank you, to Ms. Syswerda and Zonderkidz for this wonderful opportunity. A must have for any library. Received for an honest review.
