Thank you so much to MamaBear Books and NetGalley for providing me with a digital copy of this book to review!

The Day I had a Bulldozer follows the main character, Luke and his dog as he discovers that he has a Bulldozer with his name on it in front of his house! He goes to find his other friends and find they all have heavy equipment too! There's a dump truck, a steamroller and an excavator to round out the whole crew! They go to park and find they have some work to do, but that's all I'll say. I'll leave the rest, dear reader, up to you to find out!

This book is perfect for my little guy! He's 3 years old and LOVES heavy machinery (probably doesn't help that his grandpa has his own excavation business lol!) The pages are quick so that it will keep his short attention span, and the artwork is cute and vibrant so that will definitely help with keeping his attention. If I had a physical of this book I'm sure it would be the new favorite! Also, there's a nice theme of problem-solving and understanding about mistakes throughout the book that I really appreciate.

If you have a little one who loves construction equipment and fun colorful stories, then The Day I Had a Bulldozer will be perfect for your family!

I have a four year old son and he has always been fascinated by construction vehicles. We live in a neighborhood where other houses are currently being built and we see the construction trucks all the time. He is always asking questions about them. My Son's Nana just recently bought him his own Tonka Dump truck that is electric and he can ride up and down the streets. This book made me think about putting his name on it. I only wish he had some friends with similar construction vehicles to ride with like in this story.

On the very first page of the book is a place to write who the book belongs to and then there is a strong inspirational message from the author Ashley Wall. I absolutely loved the little message on the dedication page that reminds all children that real construction vehicles are for trained professionals only and they are not toys.

I fell in love with this story so quickly. It is fun, quirky, and has great messages for children. The way that Luke and his friends work together to solve problems to meet an end goal of getting to the new ice cream store is a wonderful example of all the messages that can be found in the book.

The book is easy to read and the story is well written. There is so much going on with the pages that it held my sons attention easily and he loved asking questions about what he was seeing. I enjoyed the font that was used and they played with the font and color of certain words or phrases.

I am in love with the illustrations done by Vaughnn Duck. They are just perfect in my opinion. The colors are so bright. There is a ton of attention to detail. The children are lifelike including the animals.

I could just rant on and on about why I love this book so much, but I will stop here. This is a definite must read if you have a child(ren).

Rating: 5 out of 5. This is such a cute read and I love how it teaches about imagination, friendship, teamwork, and perseverance. I highly recommend this to anyone whose child loves construction vehicles.

Many thanks to Mamabear Books for this review copy. This is my honest opinion.

Cute Construction Story

What an adorable story! Several children, both boys and girls, get construction vehicles to play with in their neighborhood. Each constuction vehicle is introduced individually, as is the function of the vehicle. The child practices using each vehicle, and an important construction job. Look out for the boy with the steam roller, though.

The Day I Had A Bulldozer is an exciting, creative, friendship-filled, funny, imaginative, and cute story! This book is about an amazing adventure filled day with close friends. Luke wakes up to the biggest surprise.......a bulldozer with his name on it!! He wastes no time hopping in and starting to do construction with his best furry four-legged friend, Bobo. To Luke's amazement, his friends Noah, Mikey, and Emma also have construction equipment. Together they have a bulldozer, dump truck, steamroller, and excavator. Will these four friends be able to create a new road to their favorite ice cream shop together?!

This book is truly hilarious! There are lots of surprises, mishaps, accidents, and funny commentary. Most importantly there is adorable friendships and teamwork. These four friends work towards a very special goal. We may find out later that it was all imaginary, but these friends had the best day ever! Also, Bobo the dog sidekick is a precious addition to the story!

All of the kids in each class at our school (2 to 3 year old classrooms, 3 to 4 year old classrooms, 4 to 5 year old classrooms and a 5 to 6 year old classroom) LOVE The Day I Had a Bulldozer! Ashley Wall has done an amazing job of intertwining larger concepts into a topic that preschool ages are inherently drawn to! This method of incorporating more complex concepts (in a developmentally appropriate and appealing way) into popular interests for these ages is the way we teach at our school and so, books that enable this way of teaching are teacher favorites, as well as child favorites! Thank you, Ashley, for writing a book that furthers education in a fun and creative way!

This story was absolutely charming. The Day I Had a Bulldozer was filled with friendship, humor, and the power of imagination. We meet a fantastic group of friends and how they each have fun with outside.

While having the most delicious pancakes, Luke is delighted to see out his window and spot a giant bulldozer with his name on it. Of course, he takes it for a ride and meets his friends for an unforgettable play date. I loved this story because it reminded me how much I loved Tonka's growing up and how it would be to drive one for real. Now I get to experience this amazing book with my daughter, and she absolutely loves it.

This was a short and cute picture book about the benefits of having a wild imagination. Add in some heavy machinery and friends appearing each with their type and you're bound to set yourself up for an adventure.

Big illustrations with easy text will make this book a good addition for short attention spans. There's also the theme of problem-solving and understanding about making mistakes which were nice lessons to add to the story.

The Day I Had a Bulldozer is a charming and engaging children's book that has quickly become a favorite in our household. With its fun storyline and beautifully illustrated pages, it's no wonder this book is an award winner (Independent Publisher Book Awards). Every page bursts with vibrant, imaginative artwork that captures the spirit of the story and keeps both kids and adults thoroughly entertained.

My 4-year-old absolutely loves this book, especially the playful, oversized words like “CRASH,” “CRUNCH,” and “SPLAT!” These dynamic text elements add a fun, interactive layer to the reading experience, and he enjoys shouting them out with enthusiasm. It's wonderful to see him so excited about reading and connecting with the story.

Beyond the entertainment factor, The Day I Had a Bulldozer has a meaningful message. It skillfully introduces themes of friendship, teamwork, helping others, and perseverance—values that are essential for kids to learn. The story manages to weave these lessons seamlessly into a fun narrative, making it as educational as it is enjoyable.

This book is a must-have for any child’s library. Whether you're reading it aloud or watching your child dive into the story independently, it’s a joyful experience every time. A delightful blend of fun and life lessons, The Day I Had a Bulldozer truly deserves its accolades. Highly recommended!

One sunny morning, after enjoying a delicious breakfast, Luke and his furry friend Bobo stumbled upon a bulldozer sitting right in their front yard! They were so excited and couldn’t wait to learn how to operate this powerful machine. But that was just the beginning of their adventure! Luke and Bobo soon found out that their buddies had some awesome construction vehicles too—Noah had a dump truck, Mikey drove a steamroller, and Emma had an excavator. Together, they spent the day digging and flattening the local park, all in the name of creating a brand-new road that would lead them straight to the ice cream shop. Can you guess what happened next?

This delightful children’s book is all about the magic of imagination and the pure joy of exploration. It's perfect for little adventurers who dream big! The whimsical illustrations and easy-to-read sentences pull young readers into a captivating world, while celebrating creativity and imagination.

Parents, teachers, and caregivers will find this story to be a wonderful resource for teaching kids about big construction vehicles, the importance of teamwork, and the power of creativity.

Cute story! I think this story definitely has a more limited audience since the overall theme is construction vehicles but my 3 year old son loved it! The artwork was funny and creative. It also provided educational tools on how to communicate with your friends, even after mistakes.
