A JIMMY REDSTONE / ANGELLA MARTINEZ THRILLERAngella and Jimmy are drawn into a drug investigation when a parachute carrying a dead man lands on the beach. Best of 5 that i have read in this series. Much better editing. I found only 1 suspected goof up or typo. I live on SPI and know some of the real people he mentions in the story. This one had so many twists and turns I couldn’t keep up. Some bad folks who were master manipulators and master imposters made it hard to keep up with. Lots of surprises that kept me scrolling through my kindle all night long. I am not retired yet and reading all night kicks my butt the next day. I think i might retire so i can stay up all night and sleep all day. 😀
This is good for what it is, namely a mystery thriller that happens to take place mostly on South Padre Island where I vacation for the winter. It's always fun to read a book which includes places right down the street. They are pretty good action mysteries which include a Texas Ranger, the police force, the coast guard, etc.
I really liked this book from the first pages all the way to the end. The beginning starts with action and drama as the story begins to unfold. I did figure out a part of the mystery in the middle of the book, but it did not ruin anything that happened thereafter as it ended up only leading up to a greater sequence of events. The ending was entertaining and had a good twist as well. The character development was well done as I could relate to a few of them as I know some that have similar personalities and how they would react to certain situations. It was realistic and well-centered in its approach. What began as a local crime, it grew much bigger in scope and drew you into the very mystery of it all. I would highly recommend this to anyone that enjoys a good mystery.
Packed full of action and mystery, The Padre Pandemic is exotic but so close to home. I was thrilled to win this novel in the giveaway and was not disappointed!
