Alluring Turmoil is a second chance love story and is nothing like a love story when strangers meet. Alexia Sloane is the twenty-six year old owner of the highly successful Louisiana coffee shop/bakery, Java and Sweeties. The past couple of years have been all she’s dreamed of and her business takes all of her focus, all of her heart. Jude Delecroix is the lead singer of one of the most famous rock bands in the country, Bayou Stix, and the man who broke Lexi’s heart. Lexi and Jude have a past. When Jude comes back to town eight years after leaving to fulfill his lifelong dream of being a famous musician and comes face to face with Lexi, forces collide, old hurts are brought to the surface, and life as these two have been living it will never be the same. There are two sides to every story, and what happens when the things you believed to be concrete suddenly crumble like ash and fade away? What happens when two people afraid to face the past, become involved in the present? Can they hope for a future? Welcome to Louisiana where humidity and passion are high and things are not always what they seem.

How I feel after reading this ... do not get angry but I will be a BITCH, here I go:
1) This book is so dull. I have to say (and I hate doing this) That I was not keen on this, to start I hated LEXI, She's the type of character I wanted to slap on more than one occasion.
2) I hate, I fucking hate books where the hero fuck with anything that moves and heroin fuck with only one person, THIS IS SEXIST.
3) The plot is so Mexican telenovela, really, you find your man fucking a bitch and you run, REALLY, I'm so angry, girl you need to stick a Venezuelan flavor to your life, I turn on the light to look good is what is happening and if my man, poor but his dick will not exist. slap that bitch so hard that she would see the stars. REALLY, you lost 8 years of your life with your man for not turning on the light in the hotel room and see if it really was him.
4) THE SEX. oh Fuck the sex. I fell asleep, so boring. this is a fucking ROCKSTAR about which we are speaking, for the love of god, read a book, go to a Sexclub or watch porn.
5) the flashbacks, why the hell the author add them if they are meaningless and add nothing to the story.
I was very close to giving this book 1 stars, since Goodreads Does not Have half star ratings, but I felt the book That Leaned a tiny bit more to 2 just because the book is not bad ... just unoriginal, unsavory, dull, bland, unseasoned, vapid, savorless, flatwatery, flavorless, unpleasurable, without spice, uninteresting, lacking flavor.
Alluring Turmoil is my debut novel, so of course I love it. I completely fell in love with these characters and I pray all of my readers do too. Jude and Lexi kept me up many nights, but I am quite pleased with the way their story played out. Be aware: Alluring Turmoil is a second chance love story and is nothing like a love story when strangers meet.
At first I thought it was good, I liked the writing style. It was easy to read. But then I started to be annoyed because of why these two were separate. The author keeps it as it's a BIG secret. At 50 % i was bored
So I went through different reviews to see what the big secret was and argh
OK I'm done ["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
** I received a free e copy of this book in exchange for an honest review **
I tried really hard to like this book but I just couldn't connect with it. I gave Alluring Turmoil 2 stars mainly because the back story "rocked". Pun intended.
Jude and Lexi were in love as teenagers. Not just any love. That weak in the knees, once in a lifetime kind of love. Jude catches his big break and gets signed to a record deal. Something happens and they split. They both spend the next eight years being half the person they were when they were together. Circumstances bring Jude back to the bayou where he and Lexi try to rekindle the flame. Sounds awesome right? Well it was, but for me that was the only awesome thing about this book. Everything else sort of fell flat for me.
The characters were likeable enough but I just couldn't relate to them. Bradi was a pretty cool friend but other than that she seemed too flaky. She is a beautiful girl who is in a relationship but flaunts herself at other men. She just comes across as trashy. Lexi herself is supposed to be a beautiful, strong, confident business owner but more than once she ends up collapsing on the floor and having to be "scooped" up by her best friend Erik and carried from one spot to another. I'm sure this is meant to make Erik seem chivalrous but for me he seemed more like Lexi's lapdog.
I had a few other complaints with this story as well. The sex scenes seemed really overdone. You can do hot without going overboard. These sex scenes crossed the line from hot to ridiculous to boring for me. You do not have to use every dirty word you know to make a sex scene interesting and women don't "finish" (for lack of a better term) on command. Also, I found the frequent use of the word 'baby' to be irritating.
I thought that the storyline had a lot of potential but it just wasn't enough. It didn't seem to go anywhere. I felt like this book would have been better, in my opinion, as a plain old romance and at this time I wouldn't recommend it.
I really enjoyed this story from Skye Turner. First of all you have to know that I live in Central Louisiana born and raised. This book has a special place in my heart because it's like Skye filmed a movie in my home state and projected it right in my mind. Loved it. I did get so frustrated at times with why Jude and Lexi wouldn't discuss why they separated 8 yrs prior but it all came to a head in great dramatic book fashion. Lots of hot scenes, crazy funny characters. Just enough information on the other band members left me wanting to definitely read the next book.
Synopsis:
We reach for each other at the same time. Grabbing his neck, I pull his head down, knocking his cap and sunglasses to the floor, as he grabs my waist and lifts me up. Our lips find each other and it‟s as if a bomb goes off. His tongue sweeps past my lips, and our tongues war with each other as our teeth clash. There is no gentleness here. It‟s as if we want to consume each other
“I was always alone; alive but not living. Until the day broke clear and my heart was Red. Red… Red… My heart was Red.” The crowd goes insane and he looks over at me and smiles. I‟m done for… Jude just sang my song to me in front of 30,000 people in our hometown. I‟m so gone.

I really liked this book. Lexi and Jude had great chemistry; the love scenes where hot and steamy. Lexi is very likable and has great friends and Jude is one hot rock star with tattoos. When Jude and Lexi see each other for the first time in eight years their reunion is combustible. They both have strong feeling for the other but don't know if the past will get in the way of them having a future. Lexi decides not to discuss the past which was a mistake but they both have to trust that their love will be enough this time.
Alexia "Lexi" Sloane is part owner of the bakery, Java and Sweeties. She is fairly successful and at a good place in her life but when Jude walks back into her life she knows that he was the piece that was missing. She doesn't know if she has the strength to give him a second chance to break her heart again when she barely made it through their last break-up.
Jude Delecroix is the lead singer of the famous rock band,Bayou Stix. Although he is a rock star and can have any woman he wants he can't seem to stop wanting Lexi. He has been with too many groupies to count but he can't seem to kill the love he feels for Lexi. So, he makes the decision that he will stop at nothing to get her back.
Lexi and Jude both don't know what the future has in store for them but can't help but be in love with one another. Lexi has always know Jude was the one for her from a young age and Jude knows that Lexi is the one for him and that she owns him. Lexi knows that she should hate him but she can't help but love and want to be with him. Both of them are under the misconception that the other left the other eight years age. So, when the truth comes out will they still be together?
2.5 This book is basically a second chances story. Our main characters, Jude and Lexi were high school/childhood sweethearts. However, their romance didn't make very far past high school, and they spend 8 years apart, that we are told is full of misery and longing. The author doesn't divulge just what the cause of the break-up was until the very end of the novel, so it was all a tad angsty and suspenseful waiting for that ball to drop. However, it was also a bit annoying because sort of sucks to be teased with the main conflict for the whole book in every chapter. Even more annoying because, it was due to the main characters' desire to not ever discuss their past relationship as they try to rekindle after all that time. These characters are supposed to be about 25 and 26 years old, so this seemed like an overly juvenile move on their part that wasn't very fun to read about. It doesn't help that Lexi and Jude constantly seemed to just ignore real life things around them and not let it touch their relationship. At one point, Jude is seen by Lexi, having an altercation of sorts with his bandmate because his bandmate thinks he should tell Lexi something. As the reader, we already knew he was hiding something, but we don't know what at this point. However, he just asks that she trust him that things are alright, and asks her to drop it. She grudgingly accepts and she never brings it up again. This is the one and only time that reality threatens to intrude on their bubble of a relationship, but collectively they force it back. I absolutely hated this because I found it WAY to unrealistic. I wish the author would've played it so that these characters somehow had to deal with real life together because in the end, the main conflict that tears them apart is themselves, essentially. So, I would guess that this relationship won't last because I sure never saw them have to deal with the real world as a couple. To expand on the juvenile thing, there were two other issues I found to be irksome. For their age, I found every time they opened their mouths or anything happened, everything was just too dramatic. The think the author used exclamation marks for their dialogue about every other conversation (which was just way to much in a writing and a reading aspect). These characters are supposed to be in their mid-20's, not high school. The other thing that bugged me the whole time, was that when they first run into each other 8 years later, they both are very hateful towards one other, making me very curious as to what broke them up considering they both act like they are the only ones who should feel hurt. Thus, I find their anger toward one another realistic and a good read. However, after one day, they forget about all that anger. It really is never exposed again until the big conflict part (which is supposed to be over a month later). I found it hard to swallow that these two ADULTS were supposed to be stupid enough to think they didn't need to get past that anger, let alone just capable of letting it all go at the drop of a hat like that. All these points just made the read that much less enjoyable. Though, I did enjoy the supporting characters. I thought Skye Turner did a good job writing/creating them.
I COULD NOT PUT THIS BOOK DOWN! I was up half the night reading it!! The only reason I couldn't finish in one day is because the lines started to blur together. LOL BUT I was reading it the next day as soon as I woke up and didn't put it down until it was finished.
That being said! WOW!! Are you sure this is Skye's first book??
Skye writes like she has been writing forever! I honestly did not know what to expect from this book, yes it's a rocker book, but I don't think it's your typical rocker story! Not all rockers are the same, and she proved that in this book! AND I loved it!!!
ok.. ok.. SO.. It starts out with Lexi and her best friend Bradi talking about going to a concert, and Bradi is literally begging for Lexi to go with her,but Lexi doesn't want to go, she DOES NOT like rock stars. Finally Bradi begs and talks her into going, so at this point I think she is going to go to said concert and fall in love with the lead singer, he is going to be a "womanizer" cause most of them are, he's going to be addicted to drugs cause most of them are. But then she is going to change his "bad boy" ways. Typical rock story, I do love them tho:) BUT wait.. wait.... wait.. NOT this story~!!
I know right~!! You will just have to read this book to know what is so different about it, but JUDE? omg he is a SEXY ROCK GOD
AND he is not your typical rocker either!! Yes Jude and Lexi are two soul mates looking for a happily ever after, but will they get it? She is happy with a coffee shop/ bakery that she runs with one of her other best friends Eric. And well Jude he is a rock star and rock stars are not known to stay in one place for very long.
Ok now that my review has totally confused you I will give you a little bit more info about the book, after her best friend Bradi begs for her to go to this concert she continues to tell Lexi how hot the Bayou Stix lead singer is, and how he is just sex on a stick!!
WELL in walks Jude into Java and Sweeties, and when Lexi turns around it is obvious this is not just a rock star to her, and it is obvious that there is def history here! What happens after that! You will have to find out when you read this delicious book.
This is from both Lexi's point of view, and from Jude's point of view and I loved that. I got to see into the rock stars mind and his heart. AND this MAN is AMAZING!!! Take a chance on this book, and give it a shot, I promise you will love it
Passion, love, heartbreak, first love, friendship, sadness, SEX and finally second chances ((and you all know we need some of those))
I have fallen in love with Skye Turner, I can't wait to read more from her, she is going to go places and I am so happy that I was one of the ones that got to read her book and give her a five star review!! SHE gets the HOTTIE award for having this man in her head all the time!!!
OK I am done .. for now! :) GO---> give this book a shot! Thank you Skye for this amazing book and for giving Jude a spot in my heart:) I can't wait to read your next book in this series~!! I know its going to be amazing .. :)
I had high hopes for this book just from reading the sample. Unfortunately I lost interest shortly after I purchased the book. My biggest issue with this book, is the hero. He was kind of a pussy. Sorry, but it's true. The gay friend was manlier than him. I mean this guy is a rock star but he acts worse than a girl. When ever the book switched to his point of view you couldn't really tell it was a mans point of view. You could tell it was a woman writing the book. It felt like his thoughts and the stuff he said where written cause it's the sort of thing we as woman like to hear. But...a man can be sweet with out giving up his man card. We still very much want a man, if we didn't we would all just date each other. Lol also I would have liked to see a bit more of fight at the beginning of their relationship. It was like they run into each other she punches him and the next day he has his fingers in her and he coming all over her hand... I would have liked to see more than one day lead up to that. It kinda took away from their relationship. Another thing that I felt was useless was the going back to their teenage days. It was the kind of info she could have just mentioned. On a positive note... The Sexy time was excellent! Unfortunately for me I was so annoyed with Jude's lack of manliness that it kinda ruined it for me lol Anyways I honestly don't think I could recommend this book. If your looking for a rock star type novel go with "The Mighty Storm" now there is a man! Whew! Or S.C. Stephens' "Thoughtless" series. Either of those are better. I could probably name more but I would be here all day. If you have already read those, hit me up ill give u more ideas. :)
I was given the ARC for an honest review. To be honest this is my first rock star romance. I didn't think I would like them, but Skye Turner has convinced me otherwise! Alluring Turmoil had me hooked from the moment Jude Delecroix walked into Java and Sweets! I loved, loved, loved Jude in this book! His POV was written wonderfully and showed him to be a complex character underneath his holy HOT shell. Lexi was a bit more of a mystery, but I think that added to the plot later in the story. The scenes between Jude and Lexi were steamy and passionate. Their story was intense, fast paced, full of angst, discovery and love. I didn't feel this story was unrealistic. It was a very believable romance that didn't have me rolling my eyes. The dialogue between the characters in this book was fresh and current and had me giggling more than once. Erik, is to die for... who wouldn't want him as a best friend. And Bradi was a real character too.
Alluring Turmoil was a rocking love story, and I can't wait to read what happens with Blue and Jessie in the next book!!!
Ok I'm officially a crazy Skye fan!I loved this book and Holy shit woman you can pen some hot sex scenes.I was glued to my kindle from the very start of this book.Lets be real, who doesn't like a hot Rocker named Jude and his woman Lexi?My only bummer about the book is that I need to wait till next spring for book two. However, this story of Jude and Lexi wraps up nicely and I'm hoping that they make repeated appearances in the future books. To all my book friends out their, don't miss reading this one seriously HOT!
Great debut novel from Skye Turner. I received an ARC for an honest review. Great storyline with super character development and steamy, steamy scenes. I read it in under a day! I may have lost some hours of sleep over it :)
Okay ladies. If you loved Kellan Kyle you are going to love Jude Delecroix. OMG I took on this book as a beta reader and it was one of the best decisions I've made. I was hesitant because I was not familiar with the author's work, but let me tell you that Skye Turner is AMAZING!!!! I was captured within the first 2 chapters of this book and sometimes it takes at least 4 or 5 for me to get into a book.
The book is about Jude and Lexi, and how a misunderstanding can cause so much pain especially when it could have been so easily avoided. Jude has so much passion and so much love for Lexi. It really pulls at your heart when you see the depth of his love for her. Here is an excerpt of a letter he wrote to her before he left on one of his tours:
“Lexi,
I woke up this morning with you in my arms and thought to myself, I want to do this for the rest of my life. You in my arms is perfection. It’s cosmic. It’s simply the way we are supposed to be. I couldn’t wake you. You were sleeping so soundly. I know that you and I are moving fast. It’s exhilarating. When I’m with you Lex, it’s like we were never apart. A lot has happened between then and now, but the now is what I want us to concentrate on. Now it’s you and me. You are what’s important. We are the only thing that matters to me anymore. What happened back then is irrelevant. I want you. I want you always. You are what I see when I look into the future. 5 years from now, 10 years from now, hell 50 years from now, you are there. As a teenager and young man, I loved you. You were my everything. But I didn’t really understand what that meant. Now, as a man, I love you even more. You are the reason I smile, Lex. You are the first thing I want to see when I wake up and the last thing I want to see before falling asleep. I want to see you smile every day and I want to know that I’m the reason you’re smiling. These next few weeks are going to be hard for me. I’ve gotten so used to you, to sleeping with you, to talking with you, to kissing you, to just being with you, that’s it kind of hard for me to imagine me functioning without you. Know that I may not be next to you, but that you are with me. Always. In my head and in my heart. You’re a part of me again. The most important part of me. Lex, you own me. You own my heart. I left the keys for my house and my car with you. I want you to use them and I want you to give serious consideration to moving in with me when I get back. We’re adults. I know what I want and what I want is you. It’s always been you. I see no need to beat around the bush. I want you. In my life, in my arms, in my bed. Every night. Think about it… You own my heart. You own everything I am. I love you Lex.
Jude
Seriously??????? I started crying when I read that. Now you see why I think he compares to Kellan. Man Lexi is one lucky woman!!!
Lexi is successful in her career and has a great business going for her. However, she is very insecure and has so much doubt in Jude. This insecurity and doubt destroyed them for 8 years. Lexi is not as wishy washy as Kiera but she definitely could use some faith and belief in their love.
As far as the other characters in the book, I completely loved her best friends Erik and Bradi. Erik is a sweetheart and takes such good care of Lexi. He’s like the big brother every girl wishes they had. (I’m the oldest so of course I wanted a big brother, and plus we are all girls ) Oh and of course I can’t forget about Bradi!! She’s the best friend that is fiercely protective of Lexi and has no problem speaking her mind. I love her….lol
You will not be disappointed with this book. I look forward to more books by Skye Turner. Mark my words……and prepare yourself for an AWESOME book and love story.
Ahh we have a new rocker to drool over with a fantastic name, Jude Delecroix! He is just what you imagine, a hot, tattooed rock star with a sensitive side to boot. Sure he annoyingly buries his heartache in other women like most of these book guys do, but hey we keep on reading about them.
Lexi and Jude were best friends in their teens along with Eric. The more they hung out and the older they got, something started to brew between Lexi and Jude. Jude is a musician and even in high school has dreams of becoming a rock star. Lexi knew those dreams would take him away from her, however they still tried to make it work until one night it didn't.
The book begins eight years after the incident and Lexi is in a good place. She owns a coffee shop/bakery with Eric now and they are roommates. Lexi doesn't date much because she is too busy, plus she never really got over this one guy from high school.
Jude Delecroix is the super star he always wanted to be, but still feels like there is something missing from his life-Lexi. His bands last stop is in their hometown where she still lives, so he has got to make a point of seeing her. Jude knows they had trouble in the past, however wants to try and move forward with Lexi.
There is a lot of past and present confusion in the Jude and Lexi saga, some of it you wondered why they just didn't communicate better to save the trouble. The review is a bit vague as to not spoil the plot line, but we end up going on quite the sexy roller coaster ride with Jude and Lexi. Both of them older and trying to figure out what they want for the future.
Sure the book is a bit predictable, but I think the misunderstandings help the story line out. It was a sexy as hell rock star read and just what I needed at the moment.
I have found recently that some of the Rock Star Romances just haven't been up my alley, some of the guys are hot...but can't keep me hanging on, and some of the heroines... meh, could do without them...but I have to say I have found a Series that I KNOW I am going to enjoy cause the author knows her Sexy Rock Gods and she writes heroines who know when it's time to melt at the feet of these sexy dudes...and the Bayou Stix boys are HOT!!
This Second Chance Romance will have your emotions all over the place...Your heart will be breaking, then pumping (along with your blood...oh mama), then all the pieces will some how be put back together again...and Jude Delecroix will certainly keep you satisfied from page one...with that bad boy persona, which is hiding the Jude that has been in love with one woman since he was in high school, Lexi.
Oh Mama....My girl Lexi...what a shock to see the only man she has ever loved, and lost, stroll into her Café....talk about OMG. I had such a blast watching these two find each other again, and I was left hanging on, wanting to know WHAT THE HECK HAPPENED to break them up in the first place...well....you will certainly find out...and it is a shocker. Yea, Lexi should have talked it out with him, but when you are young and so much is going on, I can understand where she came from, but Jude is just TOO CUTE...and Sweet, and Yummy, and lickable....I mean LIKEABLE....hee hee
So in conclusion...Um....READ THIS BOOK!! I literally finished the last page and emailed Skye to ask if she was doing a Tour for the next book in the series, cause I wanted to GET ON THAT TRAIN and Get me some Blue and Jessie...Oh...now that womanizer is gonna kill me!!
Get it, Enjoy it, and be ready for the next book, ALLURING SEDUCTION.
**ARC provided by author in exchange for an honest review**
I’ll be honest and say I wasn’t expecting much from this book when Skye contacted me and asked if I would ARC read this book. Yeah it is the type of book that I read but the past few ‘rock star’ themed books I’ve read have been lacking and quite frankly I’ve been disappointed in them.
Alluring Turmoil is far from lacking and Skye Turner has impressed me with her debut book. This book is enough to send you for that many cold showers you could possibly end up with hyperthermia.
This is not your typical ‘rocker’ book. Yes the lead male, Jude is your typical bad boy rock star; sex with groupies and rock n roll are his life. He is amazingly HAWT and has if the book wasn’t already as hot as it is you would be having a lot of fantasies about Jude (sigh).
Lexi, mmmm Lexi, I can honestly say that at first I quite liked her character but then she started to bug me and then I loved her again. Whhhaaaaaaattttt?! I’ve never gone full circle like that with a character before. Sure I’ve hated ‘em and then loved ‘em or loved ‘em and then hated ‘em. But I’ve never gone love – hate – love……… Well done to Skye!
The storyline had me gripped and had me turning page, after page, after page and before I knew it I read the whole thing in one setting.
I also LOVED the secondary characters in the book. The world and relationships that Skye has created in this book feels real and this drags you into the book until you are fully consumed.
If you’re a fan of rocker themed books then this is a must read. Hell, even if you aren’t then this is still the book for you.
I LOVED this book. I was so intrigued and drawn in with just the first chapter. I am one who needs to be drawn in quickly or I will get bored. Once you start you can't stop. You can't help but love Lexi just like Jude does. Who doesn't love an independent woman? I know I do. Her best friends CRACK me up with their lines. I would love to have best friends just like them. Finally...Jude! How swoon-worthy is he? A tattooed famous rock star...yes please! This book has it all...love, passion, sex, comedy and even a bit of sadness. I would recommend it to anyone because its just that good!
This was book 1 in the "Bayou Stix". Alexia Sloane is the twenty-six-year-old owner of the highly successful Louisiana coffee shop/bakery, Java and Sweeties. The past couple of years have been all she’s dreamed of, and her business takes all of her focus, all of her heart. Jude Delecroix is the lead singer of one of the most famous rock bands in the country, Bayou Stix, and the man who broke Lexi’s heart. This was a pretty good read 8 years ago Lexi left Jude because she thought that he cheated on her she wouldn't listen to him. I liked the secondary characters in this book the bandmates and her friends. I really liked Jude he is a hot sexy lead singer. Lexi grew on me a few times in this book I wanted to slap her she assumed the worse about Jude I understand the whole sex drugs and rock and roll but he wasn't like that. This was my first time reading this author. This book did have a few errors in it but nothing I couldn't overlook. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.
Three friends inseperable as kids...Lexi, Jude, and Eric. Eventually Lexi and Jude became a couple, but it ended badly with heart break and no closure. Eric and Lexi remained friends and Jude went off to follow his dream of being in a band.
Eight years later, Lexi and Eric run a successful bakery, are room mates and best friends. He is the only one who knows about her past with Jude. When Jude comes home to Baton Rouge, he is now a hugely popular rock star who can have any woman he wants. He just wants Lexi.
And my mission is to get Alexia Sloane to fall in love with me again...only this time...this time she's not walking away. She's mine. She's always been mine, and this time, dammit this time, I'm f***ing keeping her!
He's Jude. He was my Jude. My life. He's back. And I'm totally and completely f***ed.
Their connection is intense, their chemistry palpable, and their feelings have not disappeared. But there are things left unsaid. Something tore them apart, broke them, and made them hurt and hate each other for eight years. But that is left a mystery throughout most of the book.
I can feel her. It's like we're drawn together. I can tell when she's near. Almost like we're joined...two parts to one whole...like she's an extension of me.
They are soul mates, they are good together, but they both have insecurities that cause them worry. Their lives are different and hard to mesh. I liked Jude and Lexi. He's sexy, charismatic, sweet, and determined to not let Lexi go again. He is not afraid to say how he feels about her and could be rather swoony, but also tries to avoid conflict. She is smart and loving, but fearful and unsure. They had good chemistry, but needed to communicate more.
They had a crazy cast of friends. Her friend Bradi was very outspoken and unfiltered, her friend Eric was super protective and caring, and the band mates already have their own drama and issues going on. The next book in this series will be about band mate Jessie and reporter Blue who we already got to see interact in this book. Looks like their story will be a bumpy ride.
I liked the story line too, even if I have seen similar ones. But I did have a few issues or things that I felt lacking. It moved kind of fast and problems were resolved quickly. It was like the heart ache that could have been really emotional did not have a chance for development or time to get to me, even though it should have. It was not insta-love since they had been in love and best friends eight years before, but the fact that they got back together quickly, jumped back in so fast, and refused to talk about the big episode that "broke them" made it feel like insta-love. I had a hard time with the fact that they refused to address the elephant in the room about why they broke up when it was supposed to have been so painful for both of them and shaped both of their lives. I understand why the author kept it a mystery to add more suspense later, but it made their relationship seem less real or intense to me. Instead of communicating effectively, a lot of their issues got resolved with sex. I wanted to see them talk more, understand more about the pain they caused together, truly communicate, and trust.
There was drama, misunderstandings, mystery, and angst. There were a lot of steamy scenes, but sometimes it felt like too much or inappropriate for the locations. Sometimes I wanted to skim ahead and get back to the mystery and real meat of the story. They were sweet, loving, and devoted to each other, but had insecurities and fears of losing each other again. And it was obvious they needed to be together or would be miserable. There were a lot of things I liked about this couple and this story, and a few things that I would have liked to see more in depth. But I can see the potential for more interesting stories coming from the series based on the rest of the band mates. It was a fast, sexy, sweet, rock star read with a cast of likable characters.
Thanks to Skye Turner for providing me with an arc in exchange for an honest review.
Old Wounds, First Loves and Pains that Linger far too long for you to want to bring back out of the box you stuffed it in; This is what hooked me into Alluring Turmoil. Not to mention her reference to BoonesFarm! Come on! You know we drank that cheap wine when we were young before we went out. Oh am I just showing a little tooooooo much of my racy past! Teeee heeeee...
Language CHECK - I am giving the author a swear jar when she writes her next book and for every F Bomb she writes in her book she is donating a quarter to Nerd Girl. Just Kidding!! Graphic Sex - CHECK but not as bad as some books I have read and really I do ready on the naughty side. AHEM... But be prepared for THEM!!! LEXI AND JUDE are STREAMY and ELECTRIC! From the first moment their eyes meet they were devouring each other. STEAMY!!! SERIOUSLY! I WANT SOME OF THAT!
He is coming back for her... SHE DOESNT KNOW IT YET... She hates him (but still loves him??)... AGAIN SHE DOESN'T KNOW IT YET...
Lexi is all of us. That inner goddess that is a little sexy on the outside (well she is written to be a sex kitten - but we can't all be so lucky) that is so insecure because her past was brutal. She heals (or so she things), moves forward with her awesome gay friend best friend Erick and her almost trashy other best friend BRANDI. Ugh she kinda annoyed me. Sigh... Anyway back to Lexi. Her life is perfect! She is a business owner, she is strong and is smart. But she doesn't have him... She does NOT have HER Jude.
Well the successful Rock Star comes home and she is nervous. He comes to see her and then BAM. All this stuff happens, GREAT stuff. Read the book, I am not going to tell you. We swirl around the life of Jude and Lexi for a month and take a fast pace tour of their sex life, their new and old feelings, their hurts and their ending...
Now before I close let me just tell you what I didn’t like. Realistically, a Rock Star would have more fans about. He didn’t. I just wanted a little more background noise, people, fans, newspapers??? Where were they? Only once did we have a problem. Ok twice. Her shop was never flooded with fans. As famous as he was they HAD TO KNOW JUDE'S SCHEDULE. Even small towns gets floods of out of towners come in for a shot of a lead singer! Did Lexi make the town tabloid? Did her business get a spike in sales or customers because of who she now was??? Hmmmmmm...
BUT YOU KNOW WHAT, as fast paced and unrealistically romantic as their relationship was I was actually very hooked to this book. It was very entertaining and the flashbacks in the book kept me flashing back to my life. So I thoroughly enjoyed the read!
It's New Adult at its finest! I tip my baseball cap to you Skye and wish you luck with Jessie and Blue. Or rather I wish Jessie luck with Blue...

So let me just start this review out by saying….HOLY SEXY ROCK GOD! LOL I had the opportunity to beta read this book for Skye and I am SO happy I did. She did NOT disappoint!! From the very beginning she grabbed my attention and kept it.
Alluring Turmoil is (from what I have been told) a 5 book series revolving around the Bayou Stix Band. The first book focuses on the lead singer Jude Delecroix and Lexi Sloane, the love of his life. They have a past; a hurtful past that Lexi hasn’t even revealed to her long time best friend, Bradi (love this crazy bitch!). After eight long years Jude comes back home to Baton Rouge and walks straight into Java & Sweeties, Lexi’s successful coffee shop/bakery. Through all the swoony (or skanky, I should say LOL) groupie women and chaos his presence causes, their eyes meet and everything she has worked so hard to forget and heal surfaces. Why did he come in? Did he know she owned Java & Sweeties?
Lexi has built a very reputable business and is well known in the community. She is a talented, strong and confident woman. Eight years ago her heart was broken by the only man she has ever loved, Jude Delecroix. One misunderstanding changes the course of both their lives…until Jude comes back home and tries to repair what has been broken for so long. Erik, her best friend, roommate and her rock, has been by her side from the very beginning. He was there when she cried herself to sleep and when she decided to pick up the pieces and move forward in her life. Bradi and Erik are the best friends a girl could ask for. The stuff that comes out of their mouths is downright hilarious! They are definitely the comic relief in this book!
Jude is the SEXY Rock God, lead singer of the hottest band in the country, Bayou Stix. The only woman he has ever loved is Lexi. When she broke his heart and left him so many years ago he left Baton Rouge and never looked back. After countless concerts, being around thousands of women willing to do anything to get near him and in his pants, he realizes what is truly important to him and wants nothing more than to get it back. But will she listen to him? Will she take a leap of faith and trust again? Through their story we learn the truth of that “misunderstanding” and see how their love picks up right where it left off.
I really liked this story for so many reasons. There was a super sexy rock star, how can you not love that!? LOL There was passion, love, friendships, sex, heartbreak and second chances. You are in store for a roller coaster of emotions with Skye’s story, but in the end you won’t be disappointed.
Bradi that girl is all kinds of cray-cray and she's perfect as Lexi's bff, "Lexi! WHAT THE EFF? Why are you and Jude Delecroix..., Jude effing Delecroix, eye effing and strangling each other from across the room? Do you know him? Lexi, tell me now! DO.YOU.KNOW.HIM?" Yep all sorts of cray-cray. Jude I have to give him props when he makes his mind up to do something he's all gung-ho on making it happen, "I'm a man on a mission. And my mission is to get Alexia Stone to fall in love with me again...only this time...this time she's not walking away. She's mine. She's always been mine, and this time, dammit this time, I'm effing keeping her." And he's just all sorts of cute when he's flustered, "um...what?" Jude's cheeks get pinker and he starts shuffling his feet from side to side. "Well, I asked if you wanted to join me for a bit, for a cup of coffee. Well, you can have coffee. I'll just have my water. Not that you have to drink coffee, you can drink whatever you want. I mean if you want to. Join me that is. You don't have to. S***. What I meant was will you join me for a cup of coffee, Lex?" And sometimes the boy doesn't know when not to laugh, "come on, baby. Don't be like that. Are you seriously made right now? Baby, I'm sorry. I'll never laugh at you again. I swear!" Lexi sometimes likes to be the one taking the lead in aspects of their life, love a take charge girl, "Lexi reaches down and pulls me by my di**. "Careful, baby. That is sort of attached to me, and well, I have mroe plans for that in a bit!" Jude also doesn't like Lexi showing off her goods to other people, "no, that is not clothes...you...you're all on display...You...Too much of you is on display!" He looks at the guys who are blatantly appreciating my attire. He growls. "Stop effing looking at her, a**holes!" Needless to say I enjoyed Lexi and Jude's effed up relationship and can't wait to see what/who comes next from the band.
I fell in love with this book. I love discovering new authors and Skye Turner is now one of my must read authors. Jude and Lexi's w story was not what I was expecting and the author keeps you hooked until the very end not knowing how their story is going to play out. Just when you think they are finally going to get their Happily Ever After bam an unexpected twist.
Jude and Lexi used to be in a couple but because of certain events they went their separate ways even though they both still loved each. Fast forward eight years and Jude is now a famous rockstar and Lexi owns her own business the only thing that remains the same is the attraction and love between the two. Both still want each other but want to forget about the past. Can they have a future if they don't deal with their pasts first?
One thing this book does not lack is HOT sex. This is definitely some book porn! The author does a great job and gives crazy detail in ever sex scene.
This book not only has great main characters that you fall in love with but the secondary characters are just as great. Lexi has two great friends Erik, her ever faithful friend and bodyguard, and Bradi, her super hot and feisty (she will rip off your penis if you hurt her friend) friend. I loved that Erik also got to find a little love in this story too.
There is no cliffhanger in this book (yay!) and we also get at least 4 more books one for each of the Bayou Stix band members. Next up is Jessie and hot and splice Blur. I can't wait to see how their story plays out! I, sure it's bound to be explosive. I think the one I'm most excited for is Cruz because he is so quite and has to have some kind of secret that is dying to get out.

I was given an ARC of this book in exchange for and honest review
Alluring Turmoil is aptly named because the relationship between Jude and Lexi starts out very messed up. Jude was missing from Lexi’s world for 8 years after he broke her heart. Then one day he appears in her coffee shop. Jude is the only man she’s ever loved and he broke her. Then they find each other again and the steamy romance begins. This book was great and I really love a “rock star” romance. I certainly fell in love with Jude in this book, he was hot, sexy and his POV was really written well. This book switches POV between Lexi and Jude and I found this refreshing. I have read books with switching POV before and sometimes it can be quite confusing but not in this book, it worked great.
This is book one in a series of books which will explore the other band members of Bayou Stix (Jessie, Liam, Cruze and Dade), and it seems each will have their own book.
One of the things missing was the paparazzi and any sort of body guards for someone so big in the music industry he seemed to be able to move around easily with not much interruption by fans. For some reason I found this a bit unbelievable. There were a lot of repeated words and sentences, with some grammatical and spelling issues but mostly I found the story flowed quite well.
This book is good, I enjoyed it for the most part and it is well worth the read. Well done Skye Turner on a great “rock star” romance.
It's written in dual point of view, which I love. It is one of my favorite components in a novel.
I really liked the main character, Lexi. She had a fun loving personality and guts. Her relationship with her best friends Bradi and Erik were great. They were strong secondary characters and really added to the story. Jude is a hot leading man. He is your typical arrogant rock star, bedding a bunch of women, but there is only one woman that he has truly ever wanted, and it happens to be Lexi.
Lexi and Jude have been depressed for years because they both jumped to conclusions about each other and didn't bother to talk. They have succeeded in their jobs, but have failed in love. We can all say we have done it, but to be given a second chance is very rare. Lexi's keeps her past with Jude to herself, from Bradi. It shows how upset she still is over the end of their relationship. Jude's determination to win Lexi back is amazing. It said to me that he would do anything to protect what they had in the past hoping to create a future together.
This is book 1 in a series. We briefly meet the other members of Bayou Stix ~ Jessie, Liam, Cruz and Dade ~ and the good news is that they will each be getting their own book!
What first drew me to want to read Alluring Turmoil is that it is in Louisiana, which is where I live. Then I read the whole synopsis for it and man that was it, I bought the book and read it and swooned over Jude Delecroix!! Lexi and Jude have a past together. He left town to be a rocker and she opened up a bakery. One day she looks up at the door of her shop and there he stood. He is back in town and wants her back. The story of their past and how they come back together was just so good. The sex scenes were just so darn hot. We find out that what broke them up years ago was a lot of misunderstandings. There are also secondary characters in this book, that I hope we read about in future books, all of the members of the band Bayou Stix, Lexi's friend Bradi and her best friend and roommate, Erik who I absolutely adored!! The story draws you in from the first chapter and doesn't let you go until the end. I absolutely loved this book and waiting impatiently for the second one. Alluring Turmoil does not end on a cliffhanger. The next book, Alluring Seduction is about Jessie and Blue. If you want to know who they are, then read the book because they have major part in Alluring Turmoil.
Romance books are always great with a "happily ever after". What makes it an excellent romance for me is the realism of the situations and the likability of the characters. Skye Turner has delivered that type of romance-love, broken hearts, sadness, friendship, anger. Alexia and Jude have been miserable for years because they jumped to conclusions and didn't bother to talk things out. They have succeeded in business/music, but have failed in really living. How many of us have done something similar? Wouldn't it be nice to get that second chance?. Alexia's ability to keep her past with Jude, rockstar, to herself shows how devastated she still is over the end of their relationship. Jude's determination to win Alexia back is admirable. When he purchased the land that had meant so much to them said it all. He would do anything to protect what they had in the past hoping to create a wonderful present. My only question is where can we get the pastries that Alexia made. Can't wait for the next installment!
