I received this book for free through Goodreads First Reads. I loved it. This book is quirky and hilarious. I didn't expect so many twists and turns. There were moments when I thought, "Oh my god, how are they gonna get out of this mess?". There were many times while reading that I just knew it was the end of the storyline due to impossible circumstances. Then I looked at the number of pages that were left to be read thinking surely it's not filled with other book previews, lol. Five stars from ...more

Hijinks follow Cleo wherever she goes! This second installment of the Cleo Tidwell mysteries is just as humorous as the first. Also, we get more of her mother-in-law, Georgia, who I adore!

The second Cleo Tidwell Paranormal Mystery, Weredog Whisperer was even more enjoyable than the first, with the return of the indomitable Cleo, her adorably supportive husband Bertram and her mother-in-law Georgia. Also for effect, we are on spring break with Cleo’s four nieces, and a newly adopted pit bull named Luna as a tester for the ‘parenting thing”.

Of course, this is Cleo, and the backwoods of the Florida panhandle are rife with strange characters: Cleo and her family meet nearly all of t

I’ve been eagerly awaiting another book by Susan Abel Sullivan ever since I read Haunted Housewives of Alister, Alabama. Weredog Whisperer was everything I’d been hoping for.

The story is about a thirty-nine-year-old woman named Cleo who is isn’t yet sure she wants to have children. In order to convince her, her husband Bertram convinces her to run a trial by adopting a pit bull terrier named Luna and taking their nieces on a vacation to Florida.

They have to stop at a roadside attraction dubbed

Even better than the first book! The series does not have to be read in order to be enjoyed, but if you did pick up the haunted housewives, you get to meet the whole family again from the thirtysomething heroine Cleo Tidwell, to her pack of nieces, to her zany mother-in-law, this time while taking a romp down the Florida Gulf Coast. I can think of a few things more horrifying then suddenly having your dog turn into a teenage daughter, but sullivan finds the humor in everything. Part mystery, par ...more

Susan Abel Sullivan's latest book continues her quirky Southern humor combined with the supernatural--in this case, a (greatly expanded) werewolf tradition. A family on vacation gets caught in a tourist trap with twists they never expected. I would classify this book as a combination of Neil Gaimon's American Gods and an example of a Southern tall tale. As a reader, I could not suspend disbelief--the story is so off the wall that the reader should think of it as a fish story. Read it and enjoy i ...more

This book is LOL funny! Whether readers are from the southside of Dee-troit or south of the Mississippi, Susan Sullivan's true Southern humor and charm are sure to appeal to them all. The latest installment of the Cleo Tidwell paranormal mystery series is as imaginative and suspenseful as it is funny. The characters are great, the plot fun and fast-paced. Pack your bags--this isn't a road trip you want to miss!

I love Cleo Tidwell. Her adventures with her husband Bertram and Georgia, her mother-in-law, remind me of the zany comedies of the thirties like "Bring Up Baby" with Katherine Hepburn and Cary Grant. I'm already waiting to see what Susan Abel Sullivan has Cleo do next and where she goes to do it!

Cute but not really a mystery. So if you accept it is off the wall and not mystery, you can enjoy it. 3.5*

Cleo goes on a spring break vacation to Florida with her husband, mother-in-law, 4 nieces, and her pit bull named Luna. All in a borrowed mini-van that doesn't have working windows. But that isn't the only thing to go wrong. The mini-van breaks down at the tacky tourist trap, Tobias T. Tidwell's Terror Town.(Don't you love alliteration?) There reservation gets mixed-up and they have to stay in a house with a UFO on the top of it. And there is the little matter of Luna getting bitten by a weredog ...more

I had not read the previous book to this series, but it does a good job as a stand alone. The story held my attention and was alright, but as soon as I was pulled in one of the characters would say or do something strange that made me go, "what?" It is definitely not the best book I've ever read but not the worst either. I was just annoyed by little things like the fact that the main character and her husband are supposed to be these really good looking, physically fit people around 40 years old ...more

So this is a really fun book. I love seeing tropes turned on their heads, and this is full of them. If you're sick of werewolves who act like sexy people in a romance novel, and books that take shapeshifting animal-people too seriously, this is a welcome breath of fresh air. And it has a plot! An engaging one! Cleo may be normal, whatever that is, but the people around her certainly are not.

Goofy, funny, a little bit off color paranormal cozy mystery. I am debating between 3 stars for the off color aspects and 4 stars for my love of the main characters, especially Luna!
