Short stories by Sholom Aleichem, Isaac Bashevis Singer, I. L. Peretz and others. This small volume gives the reader diverse pictures of Jewish life in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. You experience their difficult lives and warm society, while at the same time are given a poignant reminder of the destruction which was yet to come to those people.
