Reviewed for Hearts On Fire Reviews

As always with anthologies, I had some clear favorites and then some that didn’t work as well for me. In this volume the stories don’t really share a common theme and all are fairly short.
The Land of Embarrassment and Brunch – rated 4. One of my favorites of the bunch. It’s a very cute story of Chris and Jamie, a couple who love each other even if they don’t always say it. The way Chris sets out to prove it (and get back at someone who hurt Jamie) was funny and endearing and wow!
The Thing About Being a Werewolf – rated 4. Another one I liked very much and a female alpha in the pack? YES! And I loved the way wolf politics were subverted to turn it on the asshat Enzio who really deserved to be smacked.
Sun, Surf, Sand, and a Sling – rated 3. An interesting story of an established couple and their trip to the Leather Inn, a clothing optional resort, which was a surprise for one of them. I did laugh when Daniel is concerned that because he didn’t know, he didn’t manscape! And shame on David for getting buff knowing they’d be, well, in the buff and not telling Daniel!
A New Dawn - rated 3. Probably the one that I wanted more of, if only because it felt like it was the beginning of the story and not the story itself. Alex broke Sam’s heart back in the day and now they have another chance but there are so many open plot lines (like what are they going to do about Brian?) that it left me feeling lost.
Underground Temptation - rated 3. Quick story of the hook up of Rone and Josh. Will it go farther? Hopefully.
Exercising His Options – rated 2.5. This is one that I’m just not sure I got it. Is it a threesome? Are they staying together? Lots of questions.
Paul’s Mistake – rated 2.5 . This was my least favorite of the anthology My problem with this one was that when Eran gets into Brandon’s car I lost respect for him. He needed to “stand on my own feet for a while” yet leaves with Brandon? Paul’s mistake was done out of love. Eran’s was just cruel. I wanted Paul to go find someone worth of him.
Fraternity Brothers – rated 3. A kind of uncomfortable story of hazing at a fraternity. Miguel was kind of off for me.
Fun In the Guard House - rated 3. Warning to those who don’t like girly bits in their stories – this one has some! Very short, basically a sex scene with two men and a girl.
Animal Magnetism - rated 4. I loved it for Fern and Wilbur but the guys, Simon and Harvey, were icing on the cake. Just so cute and sweet, if insta-love.

I love collections like this...short stories that can be read quickly during a lunch hour or right before bed. Ad-Dick-tion is unlike any collection I've read like this because it features M/M stories that I found entertaining, sexy, and even fun. Keep in mind that these are super short which I knew going in; these stories were meant to titillate so I knew there wouldn't be an over abundance of character development and plot lines. That doesn't mean these stories aren't good, they serve their purpose and thus my review is based on that purpose!

The Land of Embarrassment and Brunch by Sax Alexander: I really enjoyed this story. I loved the interaction of the two heroes and the way Chris pretty much made Jamie jump out of his comfort zone. It was fun and hot. I also appreciated that even though it was short, the author gave us some background on the characters and how they met.

The Thing About Being A Werewolf by Sally Max: I don't read shape shifter/paranormal books so this one was a little different for me to read. That being said, I didn't hate it however the "relationship" progressed as a lightning speed pace and the big show down was a little disappointing.

Sun, Surf, Sand, and a Sling by Alex Carreras: I really enjoy reading about committed couples who try to keep the magic alive in their relationship so it's no wonder I loved this story. I found it to be humorous and the descriptions of the property and the guests to be so well written I imagined myself (well if I was a gay man) at The Leather Inn. I loved that even though Daniel was hesitant at first, for the good of the relationship he agreed to stay there with David. It was fun to watch his perception change as the day and evening progressed and I flat out loved the ending!

A New Dawn by Raven McAllan: While I very much enjoyed this story I have to admit out of all of the ones included in this anthology I really wanted more, more, and more from this one. I loved these characters, their history, and their reconnection but at the end I was screaming for another few chapters. What was there was wonderful and I liked both the characters I just really want to know what happens next with Sam and Alex!

Underground Temptation by Monica Corwin: Hot, hot, hot...I freakin' loved this story and the two heroes Rone and Josh. Strangers who meet, form a fast connection, and then end up exploring a whole lot in just one night. Did I want more than one night, you betcha and I can only hope the author will one day right a full length story about these two and what happens after their night!

Exercising His Options by Wt Prater: This was an interesting story and while I appreciate it, again there was too much left unsaid and too many questions unanswered. There was some amazing chemistry between Enver and Kurt but I'm just too curious and want to know what happened next. However, it was very enjoyable.

Paul's Mistake by Dianne Hartsock: I had a hard time with this story, Eran's (although at times he was Erin in the book) mood swings were too fast and furious and I hate the way he ran from the one person who treated him decently, Paul, instead of talking it through. I found it difficult to really care what happened to him after that thus the story was pretty much a loss for me.

Fraternity Brothers by Carrie Pulkinen: This is a new adult story about college sophomores pledging a fraternity at UT Austin. While I have no doubt hazing like what happened in the book takes place, I really felt for both of these young men mainly because it caused some awkwardness and hurt feelings that if it hadn't been forced on them they might have worked out soon. I did very much enjoy this story and both the heroes Aiden and Miguel had very valid feelings adding a realistic vibe.

Fun In the Guard House by Melody Kiss: This is one of those stories that was over the top and a little bit of a train wreck but I couldn't stop reading it. All in all it was a fun story with some really strange twists and a lot of sexy fun including M/M and M/M/F ménage.

Animal Magnetism by Rhiannon Wellman: It's hard not to love animal loving heroes and that's just what Simon and Harvey are, they also happen to have some instant chemistry and their pets have formed an unshakable bond. When I read the title for this story I was afraid it was going to be a shifter story but I was pleasantly surprised. The couple moved at a really, really insane fast pace but other than that it was a cute story.

Ad-Dick-Tion Vol 3 is the fascinating anthology that has brought together the stories of ten talented authors into one book. The stories run the gamut from shape shifters, to two men who meet for a one-night that leads to more, to two men who meet at the "Boy Bench" to have a good time. Some of the stories are better than others, but every one has its own unique charm, be it humor, hot men, passionate sex, or a different point of view.

The stories are either character driven, plot driven, or both. Each author has their own individual style of writing that is a pleasure to read and offers their unique take on the M/M genre with a little bit of menage thrown in. The book is very well organized, and showcases each story brilliantly. Each story has its own version of a HEA ending, some with a surprise twist or two. My favorite story is Animal Magnetism by Rhiannon Wellman. It involves a jealous ex, two men who have been hurt in the past, and one of the most unusual set of guard/playmates that I've ever seen. I found very little to dislike about this book and I really enjoyed reading it. If you're looking for a book that gives you a taste of many different story styles, then I can recommend this one to you.

Individual Review
The land of embarrassment and brunch 4 hearts
This is a short and cute story of two men that have been dating a few months. One day Jamie literally runs into his ex and gets invited to an art exhibit, Chris accepts to Jamie's chagrin. I thought this was a really sweet, hot and slightly funny story of young love

The thing about a werewolf .5 hearts
Oh boy was this a fun story. Torolf is on the run for his life when a white wolf saves him.
Though it is a typical werewolf story it Is beautifully written, the characters interesting, and the style sweet with a touch of wit. I would love to read this in a full length story.

Sun surf sand and a sling .4 hearts
Daniel and David have been in a long term relationship that has gone a bit stale. They take a vacation to reignite the flames. David booked them at a resort called The Leather
Inn , each room has a leather sling.
I thought this was such a cute, sweet story of two men in love that just wanted to get the sizzle back. The story is sweet and hot with a happy ever after ending.

A New Dawn 3 hearts
Sam is a gay bar owner and his image is extremely campy. He reminisces about his first love and wishes he knew why he left him for another man without a word. Abraham/Alex moves back to town and Sam literally falls for him again
This story has a lot of potential but I have to say it left me pretty confused. There were many things mentioned that never got followed up on and the camp and clichés were so over the top it left me pretty confused. However the overall romance was so sweet, who doesn't like a first love found again..

Underground temptation: 5 Hearts
Rone is in a S& M bar when he spots a beautiful man. He is taken immediately by him but another Dom approaches. The other Dom gets bossy and Rone can tell the guy is not into S&M and definitely not a submissive. He goes to the rescue and Josh is appreciative.
Wow ! This story is beautiful and hot. I loved both characters, how they complimented each other so well. I was disappointed that the potential of the D's wasn't explored further but the sex was perfect for Josh's first time. My only issue was it ends too fast. I wanted to scream more, more, more!

Exercising his options 4 hearts
Enver was jogging one day when he hears a sound in the woods stopping to check he saw two men having oral sex. He was so turned on but he felt guilty. He told his wife and she took it well and they had sex, she went jogging with him that weekend and hired Kurt to jog with him.
I loved this story a lot. it is a beautiful story of a man with his sexual identity changing. Hi wife is supportive and helps him deal with this new feeling and it has spiced up their love life as well. I will say I wasn't thrilled with the ending. I prefer more conclusive one, one way or another. But I will say this was amazing and HOT!

Paul's mistake 4 hearts
Paul is very much in live with Eran , and wants to protect and shelter him. Eran is tired of running and hiding from his past and wants to prove to Paul that he isn't a mistake.
This is an extremely hot and sexy story, but is also so heartfelt. I couldn't help but love both of these men, and wish for a love like they shared.
Fraternity brothers. 5 hearts
Aiden joined a fraternity and was shocked the initiation. The leader tied him and the other candidate naked, spanked them and ordered Miguel to give Aiden a blow job. Aiden was straight but couldn't get over thinking about Miguel.
This story was hot and sweet. I loved how the two worked out a friendship after the embarrassing ordeal, and became friends. If you like hot, sexy, stories about friends to lovers this is for you

Fun in the guardhouse 4 Hearts
Justin is gay and a soldier. He sneaks away from his friends to a gay bar, meets a hot stranger and spends the night, coming back to barracks late. He gets arrested for going AWOL. Much to his surprise the general is the man he had spent the night with. Let's just say his punishment consisted of a cane, a spanking, hot sex and a voyeuristic Secretary.
This story was hot! hot! hot.!

ANIMAL Magnetism 5 hearts
Simon takes Wilber for a walk and he disappear. Following him he meets a sexy man, Harvey with an unusual pet. They quickly make friends, and the two men hit it off too!
This was such a cute story. The characters were great though I'd have liked more description of Simon since it's supposed to be why people can't believe his job. Otherwise the story was very sweet with several twists and turns, ,the sex hot and loving, and the animals an extra benefit.

I recommend this book to anyone that loves a good collection of sweet, romantic and sexy, love stories; there is a little something for everyone. , Plenty of hot man- sex and satisfying endings

A NEW DAWN - Raven McAllan

Sam is still pining away for his lost love, Abe. He goes through his daily routine on auto pilot. He has no idea what happened all those years ago. He loved him, but maybe it wasn't enough in his youth.

After taking a run one night he trips over stuff left on the path and falls into the very cold water. When the stranger (whose stuff he tripped on) pulls him out of the water he realizes that it isn't a stranger, it's Abe, only now he goes by Alex.

The chemistry is there. The love is there. But the past is also there and it lingers in the background. Sam wants to know what happened all those years ago. Will Alex be able to tell him and will the truth separate them again.
