I read this book about 17 years ago and it was one of the best books I have ever read. This was the book that opened up my world to reading. Now 17 years later, I read it again and view it completely different. I still absolutely love the book but the characters really pissed me off. LOL I guess I could relate to the characters more 17 years ago than I could today.

Although this book felt a little long, I really thinks it still resonates today. I think a lot of women are like Nikai (the story is set in the late 90's I believe) and there are some women that unfortunately still have to deal with situations like this. I felt so bad for Nikai, and truthfully, Robert can kick rocks. ( I am not a fan of his at all from the beginning of the book until the end.) Nikai's growth was great in this story, and I enjoyed the flow of the story as well as the storyline of the book.

I received a copy of the book via NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving an honest review of my own thoughts and opinions.

I received a complimentary copy of Someone To Catch My Drift in exchange for an honest review. This was not a traditional romance book where it's all "rainbows and unicorns." There were some deep but very realistic temptations that challenged both Nikai and Robert. There were relationship and family issues, with a lot of drama. There were parts that were long winded, but it was worth the read.

This was a good book about learning to accept yourself, acknowledging your flaws, and going for what you deserve. I loved the fact that Rob and Nikai's relationship wasn't all fairytales and that both had demons they were facing.

I enjoyed the book but the ending for me was weird . I don’t feel like the friend needed to die like I knew that Was going to happen. And I don’t like the way they both just ended up finding someone else so effortlessly. They should of showed Rob suffering more . To me that’s more realistic. I just don’t like that everyone had such a happy ending when that’s not real life
