Beside the covers which you really cannot take your eyes off, Both Arrow of the Mist which I reviewed last year and Arms of Anu are much more than that. Despite them being more for middle grade readers, its magic, innocent romance and never-ending fight between good and evil is so universal.

After Lia makes her sacrifice and goes to fight the great darkness and fog of Brume the result is far from being clear. It's the darkness that's always looming near and n

Christina Mercer's mythical realm in "Arms of Anu" is richly evocative of the natural world and echoes with lore and legend that might have been. Heroine Lia forges her own true path, igniting passion, loyalty and herb-magic where she wanders. A fresh, invigorating fantasy that spellbinds to the last enchanting page.
Mercer's similes and metaphors are rooted in folklore and nature, so well established is the world she created. I love it. The switch between Kelven's and Lia's POV kept the story fr

Where the fairytales of my childhood left off, Mercer picks up with this much anticipated sequel to Arrow of the Mist. It's glorious to see Lia come into her strength, wisdom and skills and her burgeoning love with young Kelven. Full of fierce battles and mystical Celtic lore, it's a beautiful, rich and wildly entertaining read!

Immediately after conquering the plague at the borders of Brume (book one), Lia and her cousin Wynn are taken to Anu to face charges for the illegal use of magic and herblore. There, some surprises await them, including further clarification of the royal line, a meeting with a young royal woman not of the same mold as the wicked king, and a surprise alliance with a group also seeking to replace the king. But Lia’s greatest challenge comes when she faces the wraith Draugyrd, who has bound her sou ...more

Recommends it for: preteens, teens, middle graders, young adults, fantasy readers
ARMS OF ANU follows ARROW OF THE MIST, though it can be read on its own In this book the points of view are shared (in chapter turns) between Lia and Kelven. It's a lot of fun to see the story through both characters' eyes, and I think they complement each other well. Lots of adventure and magic, and this time around we find the characters in other parts of the land, including the royal city of Anu.

Ever since reading Arrow of the Midst, I have been eagerly waiting for the next book to appear on my Nook.
I read it hungrily from start to finish and have come to the conclusion:
THE STORY CANNOT END!!! I need to read more about Lia! Is the story already over? Lives cut off so short? Will I never more read about the adventures of our beloved characters? Oh, woe is me! WOE IS MEEEEEEE!!!! (dramatically fall to the ground in agony)

Thank goodness for a sequel to "Arrows of the Mist." Christina knows how to work page turning tension on every page. Following Lia on her next journey with magic and battles is exciting and breathtaking. I especially love Kelven and his gentle, loyal and loving personality. I recommend this book to anyone enjoying imaginative world building, exciting battles and love.

[I received a copy through NetGalley, in exchange for an honest review.]

I read Arrow of the Mist in 2013, and I was interested in knowing how Lia's story went on. Like its predecessor, Arms of Anu is a fast read that makes you want to get to the next chapter to see what happens, and how the characters will solve the problems at hand. In this one, Lia also remains a strong person, true to her beliefs, as well as willing to act and use her powers to protect her people and country; however, she a

As beautiful and thrilling as the first part. Can I visit Brume, pretty please? CAN I? These two books are one of the best things that have happened to me in a loooooong long time.

Written in true form. Arms of Anu was every bit as intriguing and mesmerizing as Arrow of the Mist. I could not put it down. Makes me hungry for more! Hopefully, Christina will write a Book 3.

Excellent fantasy story for preteens and teens. Explores a Celtic-style world of magic, with a little romance, through the eyes of both female and male protagonists.

One can not complain that this book drags on! Like the first book in this series the plot takes off right from the get-go. I can appreciate the action in this book but like I noted when I reviewed Arrow of the Mist, the pacing is a bit off.

There were times I found myself wishing to delve deeper into certain plot points but instead the story rushed on. For example I would have preferred to have spent less time reading about Lia and Kelven traveling through the country side and more time on the c

First Impression:
I couldn't pass up reading this one as soon as I was finished with the first. I really love the world and the characters. This is such a great fantasy and I couldn't wait to see how it ended.
The Story & Characters:
The flow of the book is great, however, I felt it was a little slower than the other. This book is in two POVs Lia and Kelven. I actually liked having the two POVs and I thought it helped flow the story but at some points I wanted to see more of what was happen

Great Series!

This thoughtful series has beauty in the turning of the phrases. Totally engrossing and thought provoking. Give them a chance and you won't regret it.
Arms of Anu - Second book of Arrow of the Mist series.

This book picks up shortly after the first book left off. It had been a while since I read the last (first) book in the series, (or maybe it's a 2 book series?) So, I found myself lost in this book at the beginning; I went back and read the last chapter of "Arrow of the Mist" to re-familiarize myself with the story and then I was OK. If you were to start with this book, you'd be OK, but there are references to the first book, and I do recomme

Does not disappoint!

This is a sequel as good as the first! Thoroughly enjoyed reading this series. Very enjoyable and such a ride it takes on....
I liked Arms of Anu but was disappointed in the last portion of it. A large portion of this book is focused on the build-up and then really lets you down when it gets to the final fight and their return to Anu. The ending felt abrupt and left me unsatisfied.
It would have been nice finding out more about the Order of Eryr. They arrived out of nowhere and we learned very little about them. The switching perspectives from chapter to chapter was a good way to learn more about what was happening all
