Fighting in the epic struggle between pen and paper, Dmytry Karpov designed a website for writers while still in high school. As a child, he always thought in images and would spend hours walking around in circles, replaying movies in his head and creating new ones. (His own movies were better.)

He heard the siren call of the muses at an early age and penned his first masterpiece when he was twelve-years-old. Okay, masterpiece may be stretching it, but he didn't give up. At the ripe age of sixteen he began an epic fantasy that would someday leave all epic fantasies green with envy. It now sits on his computer, 80,000 words into it, and only one third complete. He might someday finish it.

Fortunately, by the time he entered college, he learned the art of outlining, thus making the process of actually completing a novel much more likely. Words have always held the power to seduce him, which is why it's no surprise that he's now co-writing The Nightfall Chronicles with his wife, Kimberly Kinrade, and also has a dark fantasy and epic fantasy burning a hole in his writer's brain.

He now lives with his beautiful wife in the Northwest, where he tries to remember his Russian and his wife tries to remember her French and together they try to remember to feed their three daughters.

I had the privilege to be a beta reader for this book, and I waited for weeks with baited breath to read this novel. By the time I finally got the book, I was so worried that I had built it up so much in my head that I would be disappointed once I finally read the finished product. I WAS WRONG. Even with the highest expectations, I was completely blown away by this book.

Winter and Cade are an amazing couple! Both characters are extremely well developed and well rounded. By the end of the book, I felt like I truly knew them, they just seemed so real to me. Both of them have a colorful past, but together they're able to work through the heartbreak of the past and move forward to a brighter and happier future.

These pasts are so heartbreaking. Get tissues! This book is actually the first book of the year that's made me cry. The story is so touching, but has such heartbreaking moments. Winter and Cade deserve one another, just based on how the horrors of their pasts building them into such strong and capable individuals.

This book is definitely on par with everything I've read from this amazing author, and I can't wait to read more about the other sisters and they're travels around the world finding love.

Definitely highly recommended. One of the best contemporary romances I've ever read!

Note: I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

~* I received a copy of When the Heart Falls from the authors in exchange for an honest review. I have not been and never will be compensated for my review of this book. This review is my honest opinion and is in no way influenced by the authors' generosity. *~

When Kimberly Kinrade and Dmytry Karpov offered their street team a chance to beta read When the Heart Falls, I jumped at the opportunity even though the deadline was short. I had nothing holding me back from completing my beta reading at the time I started. But life got in the way and I could only complete the first half of the book. I never did finish my beta reading because the issues took a handful of days to resolve, but as I read, the story helped me in ways I cannot wholly convey. I need to take this time to copy a quote from the beta copy that filled me with so much emotion I had to stop reading. This quote fits the problems I was having in my life so well, it feels like it was written specifically for me to see.

"Yes. That's passion, not love. Passion fades. And once it does,
you're left taking care of someone you can barely stand, suffering
through hard times, putting up with each other, trying to make each
other happy when you're not even happy yourself. A sculpture of real
love wouldn't look this enticing. It would include pain and cruelty."

While this quote was about Rodin's sculpture The Kiss, it felt so real to my life at the time I was reading. I felt hopeless as I continued reading, but all of that faded as I learned with Cade that there is such a thing as passionate love. My problems have been resolved now and I have to thank Kimberly and Dmytry for writing this novel and helping me through a particularly hard time even though they had no idea at the time.

Also, at the time I beta'd this, I told Kimberly that I would have rated it 4 stars on the first half alone. Since then, she and Dmytry have worked so hard on this novel, bettering and strengthening it so that it would be the best they could give. That hard work has quite clearly paid off and I can't think of any other rating befitting such an amazing story than a solid 5 stars.

Why 5? The characters were so finely developed and so unique in ways that make them feel almost real. Nearly six chapters in, I had such a hard time believing that I was reading fiction. One thing I base ratings on is the ability to create characters that you won't soon forget. I feel that Winter and Cade were outstanding examples of characters that will haunt your thoughts for a very long while after the last sentence.

I also base my ratings on the ability to evoke strong emotions. A book that doesn't leave me emotionally exhausted is not worthy of 5 stars, but I experienced every emotion as each character felt it. Every tear, every laugh, all of the fear, anxiety, and stress, I experienced every last bit of it. And even though this is a romance, there are tears. I cried more times reading When the Heart Falls than I did watching Nicholas Sparks' The Last Song. When the Heart Falls left me hollow when I finally finished it. I feel as if a piece of me was left in the words as I read. And for once, I have a book to call my favorite.

**Guest Review from Amy Conley from The Nerd Girl Page**

I was give this book from the author in return for an honest review

While reading this book I felt instantly transported to another time and place like I was in my own little world and nothing else existed or mattered. It's a hard book to put down (but I had to stop for a few times for breaks a girl's got to eat right...LOL) It captures you so completely!
It's a timeless and beautiful love story that will sweep you off your feet but it's also much more than that there's strong friendships, really awesome history facts, vivid and beautiful descriptions of places that you feel like your really there with the characters (oh how I wish I was in Paris..LOL) And also amazing characters who grow into their own and over come their fears and gives forgiveness to those that matter the most.
So you ask what I think of the book well I Love it!!! There were moments of laughter, favorite scenes that will always hold a place in my heart and most of all there were tears it really pulled at my heart strings I can definitely see myself reading this book over and over again!

Le Sigh.

That pretty much sums up how I feel about this book every time I think of it.

Le Sigh. It was a fantastic read from beginning to end! It's one of those reads that latches on to you and refuses to let go, and no matter how many times you say "just on more page", you keep going until there are no more pages to turn.

Le Sigh. It had such amazing, endearing characters.

Le Sigh. It was filled with beautiful romance, steamy passion, bellyaching humor, and heart breaking pain and anguish.

Le Sigh. Cade Savage...need I say more :)

What started out as a fun, adventure-filled trip to Paris, soon turned into an emotional roller coaster ride, with amazing highs and crushing lows.

This story took me from crying with laughter one second to crying with the gut-wrenching heartache I felt for the characters, as they each faced their demons, the next.

I immediately fell for Cade. With his charming, chivalrous ways, and seriously, who can resist a sexy cowboy! I loved how protective and caring he was with Stevie. Le Sigh. Family life was strained in the Savage household and I had to wonder what the real story was behind the tension.

Winter was a real sweet character. I loved her loyalty to Jenifer. Even when Jeni messed up, over and over again, Winter was always there for her, ready to pick up the pieces if need be. Of course, the two of them shared a strong bond, and if they didn't before, they certainly did after indulging in Rocco's famous pastries!

I really liked that Cade and Winter's relationship developed over time and only progressed to the next level when they really knew and trusted each other. Their love felt pure and real. Although they each had their secrets, as their love developed, so they found the strength to confide in each other. I have to admit that I was a little shocked by Winter's confession. I knew there was something up with Rodney, and from her aversion to physical contact it wasn't difficult to figure out what had happened in the past, but never had I thought it was as terrible as it turned out to be.

Winter's spirit and passion for life, even through the horror, was inspiring. Even though she saw herself as weak, she was the total opposite. Physically, emotionally and mentally, she proved time and again that her past couldn't break her, and Cade's love only lifted her higher. In many ways they were very similar - two broken souls looking for the light in the darkness, looking to prove to the world that their dreams were more than just fantasy.

This story was well paced, allowing the reader to get a real sense of everything Paris had to offer, good and bad. At times it felt like I was really there, exploring the city of love along with Winter and Cade. If you weren't in love with the city before, you surely will be after reading this book.

This story offered me everything I've come to expect from a great romance read. It was spectacular!

I had the pleasure of being a BETA reader for Kimberly Kinrade's and Dmytry Karpov's "Kiss Me in Paris." I am so lucky I got to review this amazing book! From start to finish I couldn't help but laugh, cry, cheer, etc throughout the whole novel. Kinrade has a way with words, and especially with stories. She is able to captivate readers right from the start and keep them guessing the whole way through. I love her writing and with "Kiss Me in Paris" it just shows the kind of writing she has in her. This novel took a lot of research and time. Kinrade was able to make me miss Paris very much, but she was even able to give plenty of description to someone who has yet to go to the amazing city. Read this novel not only to find out some amazing places in Paris, but the romance and growth of the characters. The reader is able to see the growth of each character, well not one but he was a jerk anyways. Each character has such an important role in this novel. The character who in the end I loved the most was Leslie. She is such a small character and the reader only see's her in the beginning and end of the novel, but she has a major impact of Cade and the choices that he makes. All in all, what an amazing novel!

Here are some of the amazing quotes in "Kiss Me in Paris":
~"Because something always has to die for life to give birth to a new dream."
~"Paris is pregnant with layers of history, colored with the ink of artists who dared to dream of a world only they could see."
~"I've ever seen, just a random gas pump in the middle of the sidewalk." (I added this one because I was just in Europe and this is very common. I was in shock when I saw just one gas pump on the sidewalk. It was the funnest thing I have ever seen)
~"It's like I'm giving birth from my mouth." (LOL. By far my favorite scene from the whole book. I don't want to give it away, but let's just saw you will laugh out loud right when the book starts.)
~"It's the nature of being human that, in our own blindness, we lash out and blind others."
~"Doing research. Which is code for wasting time on Facebook."

Do you really need anymore evidence now to read this novel? No, I don't think so. Pick up "Kiss Me in Paris"!! I always say Kinrade has done it again, but this time her husband Dmytry Karpov was a co-writter and wow. It will not be the last book I read from him either.

I had heard great things about this book and when it went on sale I couldn't not justify not purchasing the book. It did NOT disappoint. The characters are great, the love story is sweet. Downloaded it to my Nook in the evening and finished it in hours as I couldn't put it down! If you haven't read it, go download it and read it, I doubt you will be disappointed.

4.5 star review by Nicole Lorenzo

Cade Savage comes from one of the most influential families in Texas. As heir to his family’s ranch Cade has responsibilities and expectations to his family to stay and run the Ranch as his father has done before him. But Cade has aspirations to become an architect not a rancher and when the opportunity presents itself for him to go to Paris to study architecture he can’t imagine not going. Cade’s family is anything but the happy family they like everyone to think they are, things haven’t been happy for quite a long time. The circumstances surrounding his elder brother’s death and his younger brother’s health are the reasons Cade wants to stay in Texas and flee it at the same time. Finally gaining the courage he needs, Cade heads to Paris, and his decision will change his life in ways he never imagined.

“One star breaks off from the others, shooting across the sky, a bright light trailing behind it, and I finally understand why people wish on dying stars. Because something always has to die for life to give birth to a new dream.”

Winter Deveaux is determined to make her dreams come true. No matter how many times her novel gets rejected or people tell her writing is crap, she is determined to become an author! Even though she has no real experience with romance, Winter is on her way to Paris to write her very first romance novel. Winter also has a painful secret and when she arrives in Paris she is confronted with the reason for that pain again. Writing romance gets a heck of a lot easier for Winter when she meets the sexy cowboy Cade Savage. “Le sigh”. Tall, handsome, smart with a whole lot of charm, Winter feels a pull towards Cade that’s both new and disconcerting.

“Paris is pregnant with layers of history, colored with the ink of artists who dared to dream of a world only they could see.”

Cade and Winter, know they will be both going in different directions come the end of summer, so they are determined to remain just friends. But as they spend more and more time together exploring Paris they find it hard to avoid the growing feelings between them. Hesitantly agreeing to share a summer romance Cade and Winter are finally getting a glimpse of the true happiness they both yearn for and deserve.

…….we can’t always wait for the rain in our lives to pass. Sure, the sun always comes up, a new day is always born, but all we have is the moments we’re in. The past is gone, the future not yet here, all we have is now.”

What is supposed to be just a summer fling turns into so much more, and Cade and Winter find themselves falling in love in the city of love. They decide to make plans to stay together once their summer studies are complete, but suddenly Cade is called back home to deal with a family situation and doesn’t know whether he will make it back to Paris or not. Winter ran to Paris to hide from her painful past, but now she is facing it head on. Can Winter and Cade move on from the ghosts of their pasts, or will it prevent them from forward with their dreams and futures?

“I think of Winter, of her smile, her eyes, her arms wrapped around me, and I know where home is. It's wherever she is, and right now she is too far away. My heart has escaped my body and is walking Paris without me.”

The writing in this novel is so descriptive and visual I actually felt like I was there in Paris with Winter and Cade experiencing it all! I went through a great deal of emotions while reading this; I cried, I sighed or shall I say “le sighed” and I was pleasantly surprised at how humorous it was, cause I also laughed out loud quite a bit! Winter is strong and determined and I loved how she didn’t give up her dream no matter how many times she was deterred from writing what she loved, or let her past define her. Cade was so sweet and chivalrous, he definitely made me “Le sigh” quite a few times while reading this. My heart hurt for both of them in this book, and I was so happy to see them overcoming their painful pasts together. I truly enjoyed Kiss Me in Paris and I can’t wait for the next books in the series that will feature Winter’s sisters.

“She opened herself to him, and, in that moment, she opened herself to the world. Let it hurt her. Let it burn her veins, boil her blood and scorch her heart. For where there could be pain, there could be pleasure and love. She would be cold no longer. She would melt the hearts of others, and in turn, they would melt hers. She would feel the full spectrum of emotions and cry. She would be human. And she would be happy.”

Original review here: http://offbeatvagabond.blogspot.com/2013/09/kiss-me-in-paris-blog-tour-review-50.html

Kiss Me in Paris is a story about a young woman named Winter. She wants to be a romance writer, but seems to be shot down by everyone who critiques her work. She decides to take a summer program in France because what better way to learn about love than in Paris. We also follow a young man named Cade. He is a country boy who knows he doesn't belong in the farm for the rest of his life. His father thinks his love for architecture won't take him anywhere and that he abandoning the family business. Cade wants to know all there is to know about architecture and where better to learn than in Paris? Winter and Cade hit it off quickly and become friends quickly. But that changes when they both notice they have feelings for each other. Problem is, will this be just a summer romance doomed from the start or can there be more even with their demons?

First things first, give me a moment to drool over the cover. It is gorgeous. I am happy to say that the book is just as gorgeous as its cover. This is going on my favorites list of 2013, it just has to. I loved this a lot. I am in love with this amazing husband/wife duo. They have major talent and it shows in spades in this book. I will be reading this again while waiting for book 2. So happy this is a series because I want more Winter and Cade.

I loved this story. I liked that the story splits between Cade and Winter. I always like getting things from both perspectives. To me, it just adds another special element to the book. We see that Cade and Winter really want to start their own journeys, but they both have a lot of things holding them back. Cade has issues with his dad and just his family overall. Something tragic has happened in his family that has destroyed them. On top of that, Cade's dad feels like Cade is slapping the family in the face by leaving. Winter would love to be a New York Times bestseller in the world of romance. The problem is she has never experienced love and she doesn't want to. Something happened to her that has turned her off of the idea of love. They learn to trust each other even though they won't see each other when the summer is over. They don't want to get in the way of each others' careers.

I loved Winter and Cade together and apart. Winter was a bit of a goofball and I loved that. You don't see that much in books. She is someone I know I would be friends with. I loved Cade. My goodness, he was perfect. I usually don't go for the cowboy types, but I may change that if they are anything like Cade. We also had Winter's best friend Jenifer. I wasn't sure about her. She makes some pretty stupid decisions (especially in one scene that made me flip. Unbelievable!). But she was a good friend to Winter despite her decisions and I ended up loving her in the end. I loved the connection between these characters and their dialogue. They had me crying one minutes and laughing until I lost my breathe the next. There are some pretty funny and memorable scenes in this book that I think a lot of people will enjoy. Just know Winter and public bathrooms don't mix.

This book was so well-written. The character development was great and the story was well paced. Once I started this book, I just couldn't put it down. I loved trying to get down to the mystery of these characters and what demons they are hiding. There will be tears people, so get some tissues. I just can't wait to see which sister we will follow next. I can't wait for more from Kinrade and Karpov. It will be worth the wait. Highly recommended.

Le sigh. If I had to read that one more time in this book I would have screamed. I know When the Heart Falls is based in Paris, but does the main character have to say Le sigh all the freakin time? It just annoyed me.

Winter wants to write romance novels, but she has never been in love. Her advisor tells her she needs to write about things she knows, things she has experienced. I think the author of this book should do the same. She obviously did not do her research on Paris or France and includes so many stupid little things that are just not true that it really annoyed me. One example? Driving. Winter and Cade take a car trip around France and they make a comment about learning to drive on the other side of the road and then they were good. Well hate to break it to you, but they drive on the same side of the road in France and the USA. There is no learning to drive on the other side of the road needed. If this were London then sure, they do drive on the opposite side. It was simple things like that that made me think the author had not actually been to France, or didn't do much research about it. At least get your facts straight if you are going to base your book there.

Besides these annoyances how was the story? Well the story was odd. You can guess what happened to Winter pretty easily. I liked her and Cade, but there was something missing. Something that made them not as realistic. I liked them together, but I don't know what was missing for me. They had a lot of conversations about odd religious things, like heaven and God and stuff, but not overly religious. Some of them were just odd and I skimmed a lot of them as they just...something about them was off and I don't know what.

Winter's best friend Jennifer was not much of a friend. She is a party girl and gives Winter some drugs when they first go out in Paris, which does not go well for Winter. Jennifer sleeps with lots of guys and such, and when she has the big reveal at the end of what happened I just didn't get it. I didn't see it or understand her.

Then the end of the book where everything is magically fine for everyone. Some spoilers to follow. So Winter writes her story and she self publishes it and two weeks later she is a NY Times bestseller! It is that easy! No one know who she is but her book just skyrockets right to the top and she is famous overnight. Sure. Then Cade wins his architect contest! Paid internship for him! Then his dad shows up before the ceremony where he finds out he wins and all is forgiven! The dad had sold the farm and gave Cade a portion of it so they don't even have to worry about money! Jennifer is with the guy from the Paris restaurant and he is in NYC to open another one there! Everyone is happy and everything works out perfect! Oh and Winter and Cade are getting married and she is pregnant! Can we add anything else to make this even more perfect? Maybe if one of these things has happened it would have been okay, but really all of that happening in the same week? Really? It was just a bit much.

Overall the story was off for me. Not sure exactly why, but it just wasn't that good. I found small issues with the facts about France annoying when they were not true, and Le sigh got on my nerves so much. Winter and Cade seemed okay, but they were also not amazing. The ending was really a bit much for me.

This review was originally posted on my blog, Ramblings of a Daydreamer. You can find it, and many more reviews at the blog.

Kiss Me in Paris is a beautiful love story about Winter and Cade, two people with haunted pasts and secrets. It was incredibly romantic, but it was also laugh-out-loud funny, which was something I wasn’t expecting, but enjoyed immensely.

Winter and Cade had so much in common: they were both passionate people with big goals, and they were both trying to run away from their pasts. These characters were so well developed, I really connected with them and felt for them. I wanted things to work out for them individually and as a couple. I found myself getting really emotionally invested in them - again, individually, and as a couple - and even got teary a few times through their struggles and triumphs.

As for the ‘laugh-out-loud funny’ that I mentioned earlier…the book felt like a comedy of errors at times, which I loved. It was like ‘the misadventures of Winter Deveaux’ - she had so many embarrassing things happen to her, I found myself both cringing and laughing. Some of the stuff that happened to her was absolutely horrifying, and it was made even more horrifying by the fact that Cade was often there to witness it. In a weird way, it helped them bond and showed Winter that Cade would accept her, no matter what.

Cade and Winter both went through a lot during the course of the book. They brought a lot of emotional baggage with them to Paris, and it was hard for them to work through it. I really enjoyed watching their growth and development, and thought the authors did a terrific job. They also did a really good job with the secondary characters. I don’t know how Winter tolerated Jenifer (or why they were even friends, let alone best friends). Jenifer was the most self-centred, self-destructive person, only thinking about herself and her own needs, and pulling Winter along and getting her into bad situations. I hated her through most of the book and didn’t think there was anything she could do to redeem herself, but she did…kind of. I still think she was a crappy friend, but even though I hated her, I loved what she represented in the story and how she helped with Winter’s growth.

Kiss Me in Paris is a beautiful story about fate, believing in yourself, overcoming obstacles, and making things happen. It’s about not letting other people hold you down or hold you back or crush your dreams. It’s romantic, sexy, funny, and leaves you with a satisfied, almost triumphant, feeling. With something for everyone - romance, drama, heartache, comedy, tension, and some ooh la la sexy-times - Kiss Me in Paris is a must read.

Winter Deveaux looks forward to what the summer has to bring, as well as spending time in Paris. In her mind, doing so will allow her to let go of the ghosts of her past. Immersing herself in the ambience spreading out before her, she's ready to embrace everything Paris has to offer.

Unfortunately, that's easier said than done when her past turns up unexpectedly. Winter realizes it's something she'll never be able to run away from. No matter where she goes, Ryan is determined to follow. Despite this unfortunate fact, she vows to set her pain and suffering aside in order to enjoy the freedom she now has at her fingertips.

Surrounding herself with new friends and old, Winter starts to fall in love with Paris. Not only that, she finds herself drawn to the enigmatic, yet charming Cade. The fact that he's come to her rescue more than once certainly cinches the deal. In her heart, she knows he's everything she could ever ask for in a man. Part of her wants to take the chance with him, to see if they can withstand the test of time. Another part of her feels frightened at the prospect.

Giving in to the stirrings of her heart, she dives head-first into a tumultuous relationship with Cade. Though, she's not sure if it's the lure of Paris itself, or the thought of wanting someone to love her for who she really is, Winter finds that she doesn't care. She's been given the chance of a lifetime, one she refuses to let go of no matter what comes her way.

Kimberly Kinrade and Dmytry Karpov have penned a story that will leave you in tears, (but in a good way!), by the time you get to the very end. They've done a great job in a building a world where each and every one of us can relate to the characters they've created. Winter and Cade are sure to draw you in from the moment you open the book itself. Full of melancholy and very stirring moments, Kiss Me In Paris is a story you'll have a hard time putting down. I know I did! All in all, I enjoyed the story immensely.

First of all, this book is now part of my "Favorites Shelf", a very unforgettable book that takes you to Paris - beautifully written, magical.

What I enjoyed most about this book is the tour of the city and the lines that were exchanged throughout this book.

"As humans, we strive to grow taller and taller, to do more, be more, accomplish more, to push the boundaries of what's possible.... and like in life, sometimes we outgrow our foundation and we start to crack under the pressure... To survive we have to come up with new ways to provide support for our own expansion, and that is beautiful. That adaptation, that creative use of resources, is what makes the human story so elegant and poignant."

This line killed it for me, maybe it's just the timing of the book in my life right now, but it speaks for me. All the things mixed up inside me are beautifully written in these lines and I have Kimberly Kinrade to thank for.

I will surely read her other books.
However, it wouldn't hurt to actually read "The Ice Queen" by Winter Deveaux. ;)

Hope you'll love the book as much as I loved it :)

HOLY COW! What an amazing read! Words cannot describe how much I loved this book! I guess for me, I really connected with Winter. And then there's Cade...the man had me at hello.

Kiss Me In Paris has so many emotions flowing through it. Emotions that I will not tell you about because it would spoil the whole book for you...and we don't like spoilers. If you are wanting a good romance novel, look no further. Kiss Me In Paris is definitely one you will want to pick up. I would grab a box of tissues to have on hand when you sit down to read.

Winter travels to Paris with her class. She is hoping that while she is there she will experience love so that she can gain the knowledge she needs to finish her romance novel.

Cade leaves his Texas ranch to head off to Paris for Architectural Design. He is not intending on finding romance while he is there. He needs to focus on school, not a female companion.

This book is HIGHLY recommended. It is highly addictive. Once I opened my kindle I could not put it down. I loved it so much that I ordered the paperback.

Kiss Me in Paris by Kimberly Kinrade & Dmytry Karpov.
My new favourite book!
Reading the book felt like walking along the streets of Paris, how it felt to witness the sunset standing from the Eiffel Tower overlooking Champ de Mars, how the touch of the sea breeze felt while enjoying nature in Falaise d'Etretat, understanding the beauty of The Gates of Hell and acquiring deep inspirational appreciation towards The Thinker and The Kiss exhibited in Musee Rodin, which I dream to see someday. There were too many lovely places mentioned in this book and I cannot wait to see them with my own eyes.
The emotions this book brought me were too surreal, too passionate, love-filled and full of life lessons delivered in a flawless way of writing. I greatly admire the authors, a real-life couple, for making this book a dream come true for readers, who seek not only happy ever afters despite the burden of the pasts, but also to appreciate the life happening in front of you.

She had me at Paris. The wonderful, magical city of Paris; it felt almost like a character in this heart warming, at times heart breaking, story by Kimberly Kinrade. As a destination that I long to visit, the vivid imagery swirling around the main characters took me to the very place that I want to see.
I fell in love with the characters of Cade Savage and Winter Deveaux as they fall in love with each other. The characters were so well developed, completely identifiable and real. Wealth and beauty were juxtaposed with darkness and torment, kindness and laughter, and finally, perseverance. It made for a formula to keep me reading and riveted. This book took me through the full gamut of emotions. I was caught up in the ambiance of the setting, my heart flew, at times it wanted to crack wide open. I laughed, I was embarrassed, I felt love, and I felt hate. Any story that can take you on that kind of ride, is a journey that you’ll be glad you took.

Winter wants to be a romance writer but doesn't know enough about romance because she isn't interested in being in a relationship. Winter's nickname is the Ice Queen. Cade is a millionaire cowboy who wants to be an architect. Then they meet in the airport on the way to Paris, where they are attending the same school. There are a couple of really awful side stories that made me just shake my head because such terrible things had happened to the characters. They have serious emotional journeys throughout the story. Winter is a bit wishy washy. I was getting a bit annoyed by her constant “Le Sigh”. Of the two of them, I liked Cade better. Winter gets herself into a lot of funny and embarrassing situations. It was kind of sweet watching as Cade and Winter fall in love. Cade is very sweet and gentle. His story with his family was very sad and had me on the verge of tears.

I've already reviewed this book (and many others) in the past. I've since re-read this book multiple times and I wanted to give a new review based on that.

When I first picked this book up, I didn't expect to love it as much as I did. I was given the option to read it in exchange for a review much like many of the books I read between 2012 and 2014. If I loved them, I bought them. I've bought this book more than once because I love it so, so much.

The story is one of true love. Winter sets out for Paris with a terrible past and the desire to become an author, Cade sets out for Paris to follow his destiny. They both have flaws and pasts filled with secrets. It's a familiar story because all a love story is and can ever be has been written tens of thousands of times. There is a formula that all love stories must follow.

Love Story Formula
Step 1: Boy meets girl
Step 2: They fall in love
Step 3: Suddenly conflict
Step 4: Agony whilst apart
Step 5: Reconciliation
Step 6: Happily ever after

When the Heart Falls is no exception to this formula, but something about it is so very special. I've read so many love stories, but none of them ever swept me up into the story quite like this one did. I fell in love and had my heart broken with this story, and I can't say that for any other love story I have ever read. It seems like every time I pick this book up, I fall in love with it again. Not only that, but I find new reasons to love it.

The characters are very well developed with back stories that are realistically horrific. The relationships are believable and don't feel forced at all. The ending might be a bit too perfect, but after all the ups and downs in the story it just feels necessary. It gives me so much hope. I relate so strongly with Winter that I needed her to have that ending.

My initial review.

Life, Love, and Leftovers

I love the way the characters take control of past trauma, and push forward. Memorable story. There are some great insights, and several quotes I enjoy. But the sex, which is quite explicit, seems sprinkled in among characters. It doesn’t fit for me. That’s why I marked 3 instead of 4. Otherwise, well written.

I'm only giving this a two-star rating for two reasons, which I will get to. But I have to start by saying what utter crap this book was. Premise:
Two students decide to join a french class that travels to France for the duration of summer. Not only are they bringing their hopes and dreams, but their secrets as well. When they end up falling in love, they are at a crossroads about how to deal with their problems and their new found love.

Okay, I this sound fifty times better than it is. Cade is a guy from Texas, and lives just about every cowboy stereotype you can think of. Not to mention a name that sounds like something off of bad vampire fanfic circa 2008. That's not the point.

The story starts with him and how he's dealing with something, which you not discover until mid book. He's just vague and a bit moody mostly. Honestly, besides the whole cliche he isn't a bad character at all. It's more of what he has to deal with that's a tangled mess. Both of his brother's die and the blame is on his father. One of his sons was gay, contracted AIDS and commits suicide. The other gets into a car crash, with the father behind the wheel and becomes permanently brain damaged. Cade somehow feels responsible for all this....? I'm not sure how, but whatever, he does. He holds a note his brother leaves behind a goodbye note. I'm not sure how long ago he died either. But now he's all broken up about his life because his father wants him to run the family business but he wants to do architecture in Paris. He leaves home without the consent of his parents but who cares, he's a grown ass man or something.

Now, I thought the story would be more about Cade, but no! It's mostly about Winter. Winter wants to be a writer. Winter has a sister named Autumn and a teacher named Mr. Posthumous. Her book she's been working on apparently has been rejected one too many. She's a bit frazzled and wants to give up being a romance writer. But not yet. She takes the french class and goes to Paris. Le Sigh. This is when the fuckery starts. Winter is in need of romance to make her book feel more real. This is why she's "running away" from New York. She vaguely mentions something horrible happened their. You learn about a dipshit named Rodney who raped her for four years. Somehow he manged to get on the same trip she's going to. A trip I don't really understand, at all. But okay.

Here are my problems. Number one, Winter keeps saying le sigh. What the fuck. She can sigh inwardly, like damn. Why the hell does she have to keep saying that. ARRGHHHHHH! Like every decent female character, Winter has a best friend. Said friend named Jenifer, and Winter are supposedly best friends. They are literally the worst friends in the world. they have been best friends since grade school and they know shit all about each other and this pisses me off. I can understand Jenifer not knowing about her friends' rape, sometimes its hard to talk about. But whenever Jenifer goes in for a hug or talks Winter is bashing her. Talking about her being a bimbo and virtually knows nothing about her. I cannot believe any scene between these two. Why is Jenifer okay with calling her friend something that hurts her so much? They are portrayed as weak and helpless and it sucks. Why is winter constantly being attacked at every corner? Why does the trial happen so quickly? How are they able to reach a verdict so quickly? Why haven't more research for EVERYTHING been done before this book was published. I felt like they were trying to add some deep meaning at every turn. And then the end. Seriously? How old are these kids? 21? 22? No way. Just no way.

The two saving races of this book was Cade's brother's death/Leslie and the bathroom scene after Jenifer and Winter eat the pastries. I would have preferred to read a story about wild and free-spirited, tough girl Leslie, who just wanted to be a Disney princess. That would have been much better than reading about the Ice Queeen

Actual rating: 4/4.5

A review copy was provided for an honest review. I've read other Kimberly Kinrade books previously so going into this novel I already had expectations, and best of all is that they were met. Kiss Me In Paris is a heartfelt exploration of entwined fates. Winter and Cade are from diverse backgrounds but both are trying to follow their dreams. Each pursuit leads them to Paris and throws them together into an unforgettable twist of events. This story will pull you in from the get-go, it's romantic, dramatic, comedic, and its brimming with emotions. The writing transports the reader to Paris, the character's experiences feels like yours, and the words take you on an adventure. I didn't put this book down for long, and I loved how quickly I got caught up in Cade and Winter's lives.

Kiss Me In Paris begins with Cade's perspective where you learn he lives on a ranch, and is a bona fide cowboy from Texas. He comes from a wealthy family but also a broken one. His father refuses to support him in his decisions, and his brother is disabled and needs to be taken care of. These things all weigh on Cade as he sets off for Paris, leaving behind a complicated past. Winter is a writer—or at least she will be if she can ever pen a decent story. Romantic tales have been what she has longed to write but her college professor tells her that her work isn't real, or personal enough. Finally the long-awaited opportunity to rewrite it in beautiful Paris, France is here, and she's hoping the inspiration will give her the spark she needs to create a love story worth reading about—only to find herself in one. Unfortunately for both their pasts catch up with them and they have no choice but to deal with what they thought they left behind.

I thought this would be mostly serious but it has some scenes that will have you rolling on the floor with laughter. It wasn't hard to connect with the characters, and a few situations even mirrored pieces of my own life. I'm not one to cry over books but this one nearly reduced me to tears. It has a lot of heartbreaking moments tossed in to throw you off balance. Winter and Cade's relationship is sweet, realistic, and they go through so much together. The setting was so well written I felt myself longing to visit Paris to see the architecture and art mentioned. The growth of each individual was great, and I liked how the characters conquered their fears inwardly and outwardly. There was a few side characters that I didn't care for, one being Winter's best friend Jenifer who does nothing but get her into bad situations, breaks promises, and is just in general a terrible person. I was annoyed that Winter still continued to try to help her even though she didn't deserve it. There was some redemption to be found but it didn't seem like enough to make me completely forgive her previous actions.

Overall Kiss Me In Paris has so much to offer to romance readers. It has a fresh love story, deep characters, comedic moments, worldly insight, and heartrending issues that need to be faced. It's easy to get carried away and lost in the words, I found this novel beautifully detailed, and genuine. Kinrade and Karpov write well together, and I'm excited to see what the future of the Kiss Me series holds. If you love books that make you laugh, cry, and swoon pick up Kiss Me In Paris!

Kiss me in Paris

Wounded hearts, tragic events and family drama. This book has that plus so much more.

Winter and Cade take us on a journey of hope and healing. Finding your place and finding your heart.
Paris the city of love.. In this story it does not start out like that, not at all.
Winter wants to be a writer. She has written her book and has had less than stellar reactions. Her advisor seems to think she cannot write about romance if she has not been in a romance. She thinks differently and is determined to finish the rewrites and have her time in Paris.

Cade is out to find himself. His dreams of becoming an architect are his driving force. He has left Texas and is taking a chance on his dream in Paris. Leaving behind a lot of unfinished business and years if hurt and misunderstanding.

Both have secrets! They both need to let go in order to live. Fate just might have a hand in all of this ...

Wounds are deep. Tragic pasts.
Some things cannot be buried and hidden.
Once in awhile you might just meet the one person who allows your heart to soar and soul to heal.
Winter and Cade both tell their stories and their lives weave a web into one. The book makes you cry. It makes your heart flutter. It makes your pulse pick up.
We have tons of twists and turns that go beyond just the two main characters. It's touching and raw.
Can happily ever after really happen?
Does Cade ever forgive himself, let alone his father. Does Winter ever learn she was a victim and it was not her fault.
Read this book. Take the journey with them in a beautiful city, sightseeing and falling in love. Kiss me in Paris

This is a very intense book that has some heavy issues. It is for adults over 18.

This is a story of two college aged students with many secrets. These secrets have a lot of abuse. Cade comes from a broken family with more than one issue! Winter has a loving family but she has a horrible secret she has kept for years.

They both leave home to go to Paris for the summer for a study abroad. For Winter, French is already a second language but Cade is struggling. Winter goes there to learn more about love for her love of writing so she can become a better romance author. Cade goes to get away from his family and to learn more about architecture.

They see each other in the airport where all the students get together for the flight. There is a hilarious and embarrassing scene there that Cade witnesses at security. I had several moments in this book of intense laughter. Cade witnesses several of these. I am laughing just remembering them.

Here is that piece from the book at the security point at the airport where the agent is going thru her carry on.....

"My jaw drops when he pulls out a gallon sized plastic baggie and dumps the contents—items I’ve never seen before in my life—onto the counter. Holding up a pair of red G-string panties with a matching bra, if that slip of silk can be called a bra, and a handful of—oh my God—condoms? He smirks at me and reads aloud the note that’s in the baggie. “Winter, have some fun this summer. Here’s a starter sex kit to help you out. All my love, your favorite cousin, Daring.” I want to die. I want the floor to open up and swallow me, or lightning to strike me dead. I want them to arrest me, just so I can get away from the dozen of eyes taking in my humiliation......
Anything to divert attention from the most embarrassing moment of my entire life. And then I remember the hot cowboy. Who’s standing behind me. Who heard and saw everything."

Cade and Winter sit next to each other on the plane and find each other interesting and talk. Cade is intrigued with Winter and protects her. And Winter finds that she is attracted to him too.

In Paris, Winter shares a room with one of her friends she has known forever. Jenifer has some issues with finding men for one night stands and men who beat her. Winter goes with her several times to parties and clubs and each time something bad happens. But Cade is there as the knight in shining armour (or cowboy) to save the day. Winter is too sweet and forgives her over and over. Winter really is an optimistic and upbeat person always looking for the good.

There is one thing that bothered me about Winter’s secret but I can’t say it because it would show a spoiler. But it has to do with intimacy.

Cade and Winter get sucked into each other and eventually give into their desires. They are really good for each other. Yet they don’t share all their secrets. But time will always reveal things.

Cade and Winter help each other heal their hearts and families and break the cycles that have them held prisoner.

But at what cost?

Get out your tissues, because if you don’t cry, something is wrong with you!

Kiss Me in Paris by Dimitry Karpov and Kimberly Kinrade is one of those great stories that really reaches out to touch your heart. Wow, this was one of those fabulous reads that really pulled me in and and kept me enthralled. There is lots of drama, steamy scenes, and charming characters, some scenes that made me laugh, and few that made me cry. This book is full of a many emotions.

I absolutely adored Winter, she has such a huge heart and a positive attitude even after everything she has been through. She has a mysterious secret from her past that has a huge effect on how she lives her life. Her goal in life is to be a writer. She wants to write romance even though people are trying to convince her to try something else. Now from my prospective, being a HUGE fan of romance, I was glad to see she kept with her romance story. I love that we learn some behinds the scenes information about the life of a writer in this story.

I also admired Winter for standing by her friend Jen. Jen has a few issues a tends to act out a little bit to get attention of the opposite sex. Jen has a way of getting herself and Winter into some dangerous situations. I won't tell you anymore than that. I'm going to let you read it to find out for herself.

Cade is just an awesome guy from the beginning. He is trying to deal with his life and his feelings about his family. Cade has been through so much and lost so much. He's a very strong and charming man. He wants more than anything to live his dream of becoming an architect.

When Winter meets Cade he is her hero right away. The more they get to know each other they become great friends. I love how their relationship went from friends to a romance. I think it is so sweet when two people have that strong friendship that is behind the romantic feelings. I absolutely adored how these two are able to help each other learn how to process the feelings from their past. They both have serious issues that they need to deal with and together they can do it.

There are some very dramatic scenes that totally left me sitting on the edge of my seat flipping pages as quickly as I could. I'm not going to do tell you much about these scenes because I do not want to spoil the suspense for you.

I really enjoyed reading Winter and Cade's story. I liked the story, the characters, and the plot. Dmytry Karpov and Kimberly Kinrade have created a wonderful new series and I can't wait to see what is next!

Winter has strong family ties, I always enjoy when their is family support behind the charters. I am looking forward to see what Dmytry Karpov and Kimberly Kinrade have in story for other members of the family. I will be anxiously awaiting the next story in this series. I also have to say I love that this husband and wife writing team are working together to create such wonderful, caring, charming, and well developed characters.

I was given the opportunity to read this story to share my thoughts with you. It has been my great pleasure to share my thoughts with you.

I won a signed copy of Kiss Me in Paris from Goodreads First Reads. The following review is my honest opinion and not a paid review.

Winter wanted to be a writer almost her entire life. Growing up her Dad bought her books and books and more books. She loved to read and was always told to write what you knew. Winter didn't quite understand what everyone was saying. She thought all she had to do was read something and that meant she knew it. But thing is Winter wanted to write a romance novel and she has never been in love but has read a lot of romance books so she thought she could write her book. Her professor tried to explain all of that to her but she didn't get it.

Winter was going to spend the summer in Paris taking a French course and if everything went well she would be spending the next year in Paris. Winter was hoping to start a whole new life in Paris and leave some bad baggage at home. But she was very disappointed because her baggage followed her to Paris. This baggage thought it was going to give her a hard time and everything would continue just as if they were at home. But Winter was leaving that part of her life behind and was determined that everything was going to change and her life was going to pick up and become a lot better than it was.

She met a cowboy from Texas who helped her more than he knew in the beginning with her bad baggage that followed her all the way to Paris. Winter started having feelings for this cowboy Cade but she didn't know if she could be a part of a relationship with what has happened in her past. The more she was around Cade she began to realize that she was falling in love with him. Cade had his own past that he was running from himself. Cade was only in Paris for the summer and didn't think that they could have a relationship. Winter would be in Paris and he would be on the other side of the world. How could they have a long distance relationship and make it work?

Cade and Winter had to go through what they both went through to be the people that they were when they met or otherwise their relationship would not have worked for them. They would have been different people if they had not experienced the things that they did in their lives. If that had been the case they may never had met but even if they had met they may not have liked each other.

I really loved reading Kiss Me in Paris and think it is an awesome book. It has become one of my favorite books. I will remember it for a long time to come. Thanks for the opportunity to read Kiss Me in Paris. I liked the bridge where Cade and Winter went too and they kissed and then they put a lock on the bridge and by doing so it meant their love would last forever. I would love to visit this bridge with my husband although I know I don't need too. It would be fun though to visit it and a lot of the other places mentioned in the book.

Title: Kiss Me In Paris
Author: Kimberly Kinrade & Dmytry Karpov
Publisher: Daring Books
Publication Date: July 2013
No one knows my secret. Ever since high school, ever since I started living in fear, no one has known the true me. But then I met him, and I couldn't hide anymore.
He became my hero, saving me from the villain of my past. He became my friend, his smile a blanket of warmth. And he scared me. Because he, this beautiful man, he might become more. Then he'd see the real me, and I couldn't let that happen.

My name is Winter, and what I desire most I can't have.
Flashes of the night I was drugged rush back to me. His strong arms carrying me through the streets of Paris. The feel of his heart beating as my head rested against his chest. The soft press of his lips against my forehead when he thought I was asleep.

Oh shit. I'm falling for the cowboy. Cade.
But we can't be anything more. He has his own secrets. His own darkness he keeps hidden, like the letter he keeps with him everywhere he goes.

The letter he refuses to open.

Verdict

An Amazing well deserved 5/5 star rating!

WOW! Is all I have to say firstly! I was truly blown away by this book so so much! I'll hold my hands up and admit i had never heard of this author until Sharon Goodwin from Fiction Addiction asked me to read this for the book stop and I'll admit I was nervous as I have read a few books of love and sex this year and some just haven't blown me away like the fifty shades and crossfire series did so I was a little scared about starting this, However I am so glad I did read it, As i was totally blown away and I adored the two characters so much, I felt their love for each other too, was amazing.

Winter Deveaux and Cade Savage, two completey different people who I personally didn't think would get on so well, I thought it could of been a love hate relationship, but Boy was I wrong, the chemistry you feel from them when you read this book is amazing, You can clearly tell they were made for each other.

Their pasts are both very heartbreaking and you will need tissues at the ready as I was a blubbering mess while reading but I just adored that their pasts just brought them both closer together and they were a match made in heaven for sure.

Yes there is sex scenes, boy i blushed while reading in public lol! Kinrade & Kaprov have done a fantastic hard job of writing this book and making it truly magical and amazing that is most certainly is!
This book needs all the credit and needs more people to read and adore it too!
For all of september Kiss me In Paris is on a fabulous offer for Kindle Edition at 77p..Yes a bargain and not to be missed for sure!

5 words to describe Kiss me in Paris? Explosive, Passionate, Adoring, Sextastic and Heartbreaking!
Kiss Me In Paris is one book I am not going to forget about in a hurry!!
