On a wet, monsoon-ravaged Mumbai night, Gautam—a young and handsome investment banker—meets with an accident. Fate brings Sameera—gorgeous, rich, independent and fashionable—into his life. The attraction is electrifying, but is eclipsed by a previous meeting that didn’t go so well. Their journey starts in an unromantic doctor’s room and ends in Goa, with its pristine beaches and moonlit nights.
While he struggles to comprehend the strength of his emotions for Sameera, she struggles to tame the demons of her past. What could have happened to scar her so deeply?
Is Gautam’s love strong enough to win over Sameera’s past?
It’s scorching heat outside and just you have stepped out from the air conditioned environment – like from Alps to Sahara, like from refrigerator to a microwave oven. Not a very conducive environment for a love story to take shape! But mortal human is merely a puppet at the hand of the God and nobody can understand almighty’s move. So a perfect story of romance had just begun –just outside the Delhi Airport. Not in reality-in Madhur Nevatia’s sweet little romance novella-“Your’s accidentally”. Gautam-our protagonist –an attractive cooperate top brass has just stepped out of Indira Gandhi International Airport. he was annoyed with everything –nobody there to receive him, the purpose of his visit, a future of unpleasant social gathering looming ahead are all adding fuel to the fire! And there she was-lovely lady arguing with the cab driver and they are literally swallowing her words! And he had a first impression of the lady “She seemed to have a strange effect on him; his body was taut with unexplained tension, and the more she smiled, the more irritated he felt. While he fretted in the heat, she seemed to be Miss Congeniality personified. The fact that someone else was coping better under the circumstances made the usually rational Gautam irrationally indignant. He knew her kind, a pretty young thing with the brains of a butterfly whose biggest disaster in life would be the chipping of one of her perfectly painted nails; losing a favorite earring would most certainly translate to unmitigated trauma.”
'Yours Accidently’ deals with an ugly truth of our society but seldom comes to light because of close relations involved. I would not go in details, else it would be a spoiler, but Madhur Nevatia, in her debut novel, has captured the problem and scene bang on.
Gautam, (love the name) a no-nonsense Investment Banker, meets beautiful Sameera and sparks fly all over. They come close as Gautam meets Sameera again when he is injured in an accident. Unaware of her traumatic past, he is hurt and unable to understand her hot and cold responses to his sincere advances. Slowly, patiently he is able unravel the mystery and wins her over.
I can identify with Gautam’s character, an introvert, workaholic and a sensitive person. I am glad the author has not made him an Alpha male, a norm in some romance stories. He gets tired of singing and dancing in the events, it is such a genuine male characteristic that one can totally relate to it. I loved his subtle, mature ways as he handles Sameera when she is struggling with her fears and emotions. Sameera’s character, a shy girl, but a determined professional has been portrayed very well. Her reluctance to commit is relevant and understandable.
Since it’s a romance, I would have loved a little more interaction between our hero and heroine at the beginning when the conflict is building, most of the dialogues were either overheard or through other characters. But as the story progresses I was completely immersed.
Dear Author/Publisher, First of all, Fire the Person who designed the cover of this Book. I changed my mind a million times before buying this book, coz I feared this book will be as bad as its Cover. Such a Relief that I was Wrong. I loved the ease with which the Author lets me enter the World of Sameera & Gautam. The Visual Images that the author presents the reader through her Witty, Funny, touching narattion are distinctive & fresh. However the only Reason, I gave this book a 4 star rather than a 5, is coz I felt the author didn't manage to do right characterisation of Gautam. Gautam, who is know as a Bad Boy among his peers & friends, which even he accepts, rather comes across as a Good Sweet Pansy Timid Guy. I mean which Bad Boy will let a Girl make fun of him in front of everyone, & then shed tears about it in his Room. Apart from this, I loved this Breezy Novel. Its a Perfect Coffee-Table book.
This book seemed a bit like a drag in the first half. In the beginning, I didn't really like how both the main leads: Sameera and Gautam, were too arrogant to admit that they like each other. It sort of irked me. The story improved a great deal in the second half! The characters developed a bit, and the changes were nice. The plot was great, but the atmosphere failed to impress me. With the same plot it could've been a better piece of work. I really liked the way the book concluded; that part's writing seemed almost lyrical. I had more expectations from this book. A one time read.
It is a very well written book: a simple story with a simple plot. The characters are lifelike and while I was reading the story, it felt more of a narration that reading, as if someone was telling me their story. The author has described the feelings of both the characters. The language is simple and easy to follow.
I wasn't blown away but it was a nice escape for an afternoon. I can see myself reading again and would recommend to anyone with a little time to indulge. It is a short story but also a good read.
