“Baby Girl, do you have any idea what you do to me?”
“Schooner … ”
“Yeah, Baby Girl … ”
“It’s smoochal.”

Moore to Lose is a sequel to Searching For Moore. Even though it was a sequel, the most part of the book is actually flashbacks from Mia's past. We get to see what she's been through since the moment she had left California, back in the 80s.

After the events that led her back to New York, Mia's in a really messed up psychological situation. She's feeling a lot of different emotions, missing, hating and loving Shooner, after everything that happened back at California.

She's restarting her life, being enlisted in a new university, making new friends and slowly crushing on a young 27 year old playboy professor, Tom Sheehan.

But he wasn't the only guy that we see from Mia's 24 year old-apart from Shooner- past. We can see how she's handling everything, making right and wrong decisions throughout this long journey.

We also meet Michael. A very decent guy who is ready to offer her everything. But sometimes we put obstacles in our destiny and sometimes destiny has other plans for us. That being said, Michael was my favorite guy from Mia's past and I don't think he deserved the ending that he got.

When I realized that this book would focus mostly on Mia's past, it kind of felt like a bummer to me, especially after the events on the ending of the first book, I just wanted to see how their story would develop. And from the very little that the story moved forward I wasn't pleased.

I still loved this book. Even though there wasn't a big development and progress from the events of the first book, we got to see why didn't they meet each other after all these years. I think it's a really interesting, devastating, but also entertaining story and I would still recommend it to anyone! :)

It's honestly one of the best books I have ever read after Searching For Moore. It really makes you think about life in general I cannot even find the words to express how deeply I fell into this book. It's was raw and so full of emotion, I can't seem to move past this book. I don't think I will. It's raw wonderful and heart wrenching all at the same time. I in no way expected to be affected this much as I am with this book. Well done Julie and thank you so much for trusting me and sharing this with me.This book will tug and pull the strings of people's hearts. Make sure you tell people to take a drink and prepare to sit down for while because you won't want to put this book down. I'm pretty sure I have never cried that much just reading a book. 3>

Ah, where to start?! I'm partly intensely frustrated by this book and partly head-over-heels in love with it.

This is Mia's journey. Moore to Lose follows Mia through the twenty four years that she and Schooner were apart. It sees her trying to cope with the trauma of her past and trying to rid her mind of all things Schooner.

"Where are you? Am I supposed to go through this lifetime without you? Were we just not meant to be together in this lifetime? Would I even recognize you if we were to meet?" As tears streamed down her cheeks, "Or did I already lose you?" You're my go-to, Schooner, she thought.

4.5 Stars for Mia and Schooner.

I am knocking half a star off because of the lack of Schooner. Generally, in my books, I like to know who my hero is going to be and spend the entire book falling in love with them. My hero and heroine being apart for prolonged periods of time tends to frustrate me.

And whilst that did happen a little during this book, there was so much to Mia's story, that I will admit to losing myself to it for the most part. In fact, at times, I even kind of forgot that I was reading Mia and Schooner's story.

"I just want to find that person for me, that soul mate, that connection that I thought I had found with you. And I just fear that I am going to go through this lifetime and not find it."

Mia's journey is far from easy. I definitely have a new level of respect for this character, whom I already loved. There are some incredibly emotional, thought provoking, distressing scenes in this book. Mia tries to move on, tries to have healthy relationships, tries to deal with everything that she's been dealt. But sometimes she just isn't strong enough.

"I just had a really rough night," she pulled the cover over her head again.
"I'm afraid to ask."
"Suffice it to say it involved two men and a lot of drugs."

There are scenes of drug use, sexual promiscuity, grief and more in this book. It's an emotional ride and I would advise treading with caution if you are at all offended or affected by certain triggers.

I feel that I need to cast two more characters for this book. Mia has various relationships, but the two most prominent ones are with Tom and Michael. So I'm going to give these guys faces for you, as they play a huge part in Mia's life without Schooner.

I didn't like Tom. Handsome, brooding, poet, professor, Tom. Ten years older than Mia, Tom is a self confessed player. Yes, he was sexy as hell, but something told me to be wary about him from the beginning. Perhaps it was Mia's vulnerability, of the fact the way they began their relationship. I don't know.

However, as time went on, I begun to doubt myself and allowed myself to like him a little more. Well, you'll find out how that ends when you read the book. For me, Tom was all about Mia's sexual discovery and coming of age.

"What are you doing to me?"
"Fucking the crap out of you."

And then there was Michael. I loved Michael. I felt like I was being totally unfaithful to Schooner, but I did. Michael is just a darling. He's sweet, kind, sensitive, gorgeous. He's perfect.

But this time, it was Mia who wasn't so sure. Michael and Mia's relationship has ups and downs. And then, Julie A. Richman broke. My. Heart! Oh God! I was ugly crying at 1am this morning. I was absolutely crushed and I ended up having to put the book down and compose myself, because I was trying to read on and my mind was still going 'But... what just happened?' and I was ending up reading one paragraph over and over because I just couldn't concentrate. So, be aware... you will fall traitorously in love with Michael and you will cry.

"I love you and you are coming home to me tonight, you got that, Buster."
"Yeah, I got it. I love you, Mia. I love you so much."
"Good, because you've got me for as long as you'll have me."

But, moving on, we know that Mia's destiny isn't with Tom or Michael. We know that after twenty four years apart, Mia and Schooner are reunited. So, after Mia's story, we then switch to Schooner's POV. We get his take on their re-connection and his split with CJ.

"Did you even love me, Mia? Did you ever think about me after you walked away?"

And then we switch again, to Mia and Schooner's story, together.

"Baby Girl, do you have any idea what you do to me?" There were smiles at either end of the phone at the reprise of the words that started a lifelong love affair.
"Schooner..."
"Yeah, Baby Girl..."
"It's smoochal."

At the end of this book, we are finally back in the here and now. Our Mia and Schooner are back together, a little after where we left them in book #1. And then we get another freakin' cliffhanger. Julie, you are an evil wench. Please please please write your butt off and get book #3 in my hands asap.

This is such a great series so far. Parts of it remind me a little of the Love Me With Lies series. It's got that kind of love triangle, the absence between the two main characters, the villainous 'other woman' who is determined to get her claws into the man. I'd love to see these books getting more attention. Add them to your TBR lists and check them out. And I'll keep you posted on the release of the final instalment.

This is book two in the Needing Moore series and is the sequel to Searching For Moore. This book gives us answers to some questions we had from the first book. We see what happens after the gut wrenching end of SFM. But then we are also transported back and we learn more of Mia's life between leaving Schooner and the present situation. The first book gave us more Schooner's story and their reconnection. This book gives us Mia's difficult, painful journey. And it also gives us more glimpses into Schooner's thoughts as well. I loved seeing some scenes through Schooner's eyes and also getting to catch up to where they are in the present.

"We both went through hell and we each thought the other one didn't go there--and that made it even worse--and today we learned we both to hell--separately and alone. And now, I am going to fix this. I am going to make this right. We are going to have our happiness. I am putting this back on track--the way it was supposed to be."

But the majority of this story is about Mia. Where she went, the people who came into her life at various times and what they did for her, how she coped and her attempts to move forward without Schooner. Mia had a lot to get over as the terrible events from SFM and her loss of Schooner cut her to the core. She was young, smart, and strong, but it still was a lot for someone to deal with. And she did not always make good choices or healthy choices. But along the way she showed growth, determination, and an inner strength. She met people along the way that became significant in her life even though no one could ever live up the void left by Schooner. Some the people showed her how to heal, some showed her support, some helped her self esteem, and some tried to love her. Others were not such good influences are added to her pain. We get to see more about how Mia met the people that have become her support system and how they came to fit in her world.

"Of course you do, Mia. The edge is the only place you currently feel alive."~Rob

Oh Baby Girl, the whole time I was dying, so were you. We were both dying. This was so senseless. This never should have happened.

I love the characters in this series. Schooner is so sweet, loving, emotional, protective, and swoony. He is seriously the perfect guy: handsome, successful, charming, down to Earth and devoted. And Mia is so unique, sassy, and strong. Even when she was having trouble coping, she still had a sense of humor and strong personality. And together their love is beautiful, soulful, and thoroughly touching. Their journey is so heartbreaking, maddening, and was so unecessary that it made me angry all over again that they both suffered so much. But it also made their reconnection even more powerful and emotional.

It was real. It had always been real. They would work through the demons together...She was his and no one was ever going to take her from him again.

There were some scenes that literally ripped my heart out and made me tear up. Others that made me disappointed or angry. And still more that made me swoon and sigh with happiness. We get to know more about them apart as well as them together. This book gave me answers I needed and more depth to their story. But their story is not over. We have more challenges and milestones to face. I am really looking forward to the conclusion of this trilogy. Julie A. Richman has created characters and a story line that is current and believable. She pulls you into their story so deeply that you are highly invested in their outcome and are not ready to leave them when it is over. I adored Schooner and Mia in the first book and I still love them. They are seriously one of my all time favorite book couples.

Thanks to Julie A. Richman for providing me with an arc in exchange for an honest review. Will be posted at Reviews by Tammy and Kim.

Absolutely loved this book! Mia's story is an amazing journey and one you shouldn't miss. I already loved Schooner...but Mia stole my heart in this one! Not only was the story beautifully written, but Ms. Richman has written some wiggle in your seat sexy scenes too...my favorite combination in a book :)

5 Gut Wrenching Stars

I was blown away by Searching for Moore. I even went back and began re-reading their story before I started this one just to embed those feelings into me one more time, and sure enough it all flowed back so fluidly and with clarity.
[image error]Mia and Schooner on the Beach photo photo2copy3_zpscf7ce6e8.jpg

I also find it hard for many authors to continue a trilogy in today's fast paced New Indie burst of trilogies. But for me, Julie just has it down pat. Here's why I love Julie's writing so very much. She's real and has lived life more than 24 years. As an older woman, her stories about disappointment with your choice and marriage strike a chord way too close for me. As an older reader I love that she takes me back in time to my own college years and my first love all the way up to an incredible reconnection and second chance at love.

Having said that, this was such a painful book for me in so many ways.We start out pretty much where the last book ended, but Mia is recovering and on bed rest. We are given a glimpse of the deep need to protect her and Nathaniel and then suddenly we taken into the past.

I wasn't sure what to expect and at times I got really really angry at Mia. We pick up in her sophmore year, she is only 17, but she's trying to move on from her gut wrenching leaving of Schooner. She's changed. Who wouldn't be? But red flags are all around her. But as I plunged on and realized that her actions were reactions to her abhorrent past, it all began to fall into place. She was lost, hurting, and desperate to feel loved in any way that she could. Hence, some very poor decisions but also life lessons.

Tom I saw coming. And I knew how it would end. But boy did that girl just put on an Oscar performance in getting rid of the skank and he manho. Bravo! Well done Mia!
[image error]Bye Bitch photo 850093_zpsb49fe3c4.gif

My heart and hurt took nosedives with the piece of shit neighbors. Broke my heart and I knew our girl was going to crash big time if something, anyone didn't step in. Thank God for Charles and Seth. Thank God for tough love. Healing and doing it in a healthy way took some guts on Mia's part, but our girl stepped up and made that choice.

Time continues on as life and seasons come and go. We are still filled with the incredible sights and sounds of New York City and I imagine in my very fiber that I am there in the MET perusing those magnificent pieces. The special places to eat, the little corner bars. Julie brings it vividly to life and I can hear the traffic!

While picking up her pieces and establishing her career, she still sees and hears Schooner at times in her head and works so very hard to push it back into its box. And then along comes Micheal. Let me just say that through this portion of her life, I knew, I knew immediately from one specific clue what fate held in store for them. I cried and cried and could hear and see it all in my mind as plain as day. Broke me for her.

Enter Now: We are taken to the point of the end of the birthday party in the first book and Schooner has found out that Mia Silver is on FB. We do get some lap over here but it is not over done. We hear the anguish from Schooner's end as he realizes what his loathsome wife did. The rest of the book takes us to the final now where Mia and her baby on bed rest and Schooner has an amazing surprise for her and their upcoming family when the call comes. I won't go any farther. I can't. Let me just say that when this book ends, loose ends are left hanging and questions have arisen as to whom Scooter is really loyal. Can he actually make that final choice and make it right?
[image error]Schooner photo 0-1_zps4985e9dd.jpg

I am so invested in this series. I am invested in Mia and Schooner because I almost try and see myself in them. But be warned, the steam factor, out of control sex, and some drug use come into play. And by the time we you get through it, you understand why.

I didn't use many quotes but I want to end with the one that always sticks with me and I hold on to:
Schooner Moore could not wait one more minute to meet the light again. He was fully ready to embrace the light and shed the comfort he had built in darkness.

I'm counting on him remembering that. Read Searching for Moore. And then jump right into the heartbreak of Mia as she struggled to find herself during those 24 yrs.

Please see the last book in this series, More than Forever, for a short review of all three books.

In this second installment, much of the page time is given to Mia, filling in the years she and Schooner were apart. New characters are introduced as well as the healing process Mia experiences from a past trauma.

Disclaimer: I received an ARC from the author in exchange of an honest review.

*This book contains a cliffhanger that will be resolved in Book 3. It is the second of three books and is NOT a stand alone book. Possible triggers: promiscuity, sexual assault, unsafe sexual situations

We met Schooner Moore in Searching For Moore, as he was reunited with his college sweetheart, Mia Silver, after 24 years. We knew what transpired in Schooner’s life, during those years, but were left wondering what happened to Mia. Moore to Lose, answered those questions.

Moore to Lose focused on Mia’s journey. We already knew she was not the typical, innocent ingénue - she was a tough New York City girl. “Moore to Lose,” showed us the dichotomy of the sweet teenager versus maturing young woman, in some of her early decisions. Decisions that many readers have made in their own lives – good, bad and ugly. Julie A. Richman approached these events with great sensitivity, knowing how deeply the readers were invested in Mia’s happiness. Readers also knew that Mia lived her life for 24 years without Schooner. Moreover, it was unrealistic to believe that an independent, intelligent, vivacious, self-made woman, in her forties would have remained free of friendships and relationships. That was simply not “our” Mia. She was a REAL woman – complex, warm, ebullient, loyal and yes, sometimes sad, and lonely.

Ms. Richman brought back familiar secondary characters and framed the story within the backdrop of New York City. NYC was another character in
Moore to Lose, and served as one of the catalysts in Mia’s voyage of self-discovery. Ms. Richman continued her trademark use of music and popular culture references as touchstones throughout the story. They helped mark the passage of time and kept Schooner with Mia, connected across the miles and years.

Searching For Moore demonstrated Ms. Richman’s storytelling talents. Moore to Lose illustrated her ability to consciously immerse her readers inside the story. Moore to Lose was not the romantic happily ever after, but the necessary bridge that prepared Mia to be reunited with Schooner. Without Moore to Lose, the series would simply be a lovely romp down memory lane.

Readers will identify with Moore to Lose, because it is so much more than a “romance” novel. It is the story of a woman losing, finding, healing and honoring herself and her spirit. We fell in love with Mia in Searching For Moore. In Moore to Lose, we understand why we love her. As Mia lives her life, we live the experiences with her.

Searching For Moore was a roller coaster ride of emotions. Moore to Lose took that ride, plunged it into complete darkness and added loops, spins and rolls. Ms. Richman promised that all issues would be resolved in the third, and final, book in the Needing Moore series. This reader will be anxiously waiting for that book. In the meantime, I highly recommend Moore to Lose for readers who want rich characters who evoke tears, anger, joy, heartbreak, forgiveness, friendship, acceptance, and ultimately, love.

Where do I begin?? I will start by saying that I loved Searching for Moore, but I am in LOVE with Moore to Lose! Mia Silver...I love this girl!! She is so real, so flawed, but just so easy to love. Her story is so raw and full of emotion. In her 24 years without Schooner, she carried the memories with her always and there were so many triggers that brought Schooner to the forefront of her mind. It's heartbreaking to watch her struggle through her demons and try to overcome her past and move on. She's such a smart and successful businesswoman, but for so many years, that was just a mask she put on. For so many years, she was losing the battle to her demons and her past.

There are many new characters in this book; some you love, some you hate, some you want to absolutely strangle. Although he was always with her as a ghost, Mia did not spend those years pining away for Schooner. She lived her life; she had some great relationships, and some not-so-great relationships, and one really HOT relationship! She made some poor choices, but also some great choices. There are also many characters in this book that we got to meet in Searching for Moore, but we get to now see how they became part of the story. The degrees of separation in this story are just mind-blowing!

This book is definitely a rollercoaster of emotions but it's a ride that I want to take over and over and over again. I cannot wait to read the conclusion of Schooner and Mia’s story!

This one also ends with a cliffhanger but not nearly as painful as the one in Searching for Moore.

Very disappointed with the ending of the book. I HATE cliffhangers..had it in book 1 and now in this book also.

SPOILERS

Part 1 of the book was Mia in the time apart from S. it was good to get her story, but it was a bit long for me. Part 2 starts out same stuff from book 1,then we get to see a bit of Schooner. FINALLY part 3 is them together, but it was way too short! I wanted more couple building time but didn't get that, and poor mIa is on bedrest and still suffering effects of a cracked skull due to the jerk first son. Then he gets a call son is in hospital so he flies out,and get this moves into CJs house! he says its the guest room, but sorry 3 weeks is way to long to live there, and he is sending everyone the wrong message. then he is uncaring to Mia's feelings and concerns. she goes into early labor and at ned of book is on the way to the hospital. UGH!!!

sorry not buying this epic love story with that kind of ending. Unless he grows a backbone with CJ and comes groveling..cause poor Mia always gets the short end of the stick with him. because right now, CJ is winning again

I have waited so long for this book to come out. I had such high expectations and wanted to know so much about MIA and Schooners future. Well I didnt get much of that bad I did get alot of back story on Mia. I felt like though Mias story was really amazing but I loved the series because of Schooner and Mias relationship and I wish that the second book was based on them and not on all her past bad relationships. Overall the book was well written and I enjoyed it. It just did not move forward at all. Hopefully book 3 will be better.

So I JUST finished reading this book. Usually after I read a book I love I have to take some time to settle down and focus on what I want to write in my review. But in this case, I just cannot wait. I am feeling a strong need to tell you RIGHT NOW how much I LOVE LOVE LOVE this book, this series and of course, its author, Julie Richman. Moore to Lose is the second book in this series picking up shortly after the big cliffhanger in Searching For Moore left off. I could not wait to get my hands on this story and once I started reading, I could not stop until I finished. And even then I'm left once again wanting Moore (haha get it?). This time we are not left with as big a cliffhanger but we are not left completely satisfied either. Julie Richman is a smart writer and has given us just enough to keep us on the edge of our seats waiting for the next installment.

This story is so incredibly well written. It is a love story, plain and simple. A heart-warming, yet heart-wrenching love story. Like the first book, the emotions are so real and raw it's like I was right there with Mia through her difficult journey to hell and back. It's intense. We learn all about the 24 years that Schooner and Mia are apart and it's not easy. At times I was cringing, crying, screaming, and tempted to throw the Kindle. There were some "if only's" that made me want to throw up; there were some "No! What are you doing?'s" that frustrated the heck out of me. But in the end I realize that all of these scenes, these emotions are there for a reason; they are absolutely necessary in order to allow the reader to experience everything through Mia's eyes. Her pain, her anguish, her fears, her attempts at happiness, are all there for us to read and process. My heart was racing through so many of this book's pages I had to stop and breathe a few times. And it is worth EVERY SINGLE MOMENT of that experience. Julie Richman is a very talented writer; she knows when to lighten the mood, when to darken it, and when to throw in a few smiles to get the reader through a tough scene.

In addition to her wonderful writing and character development, I also really appreciate the attention to detail that Julie Richman provides in her story. Names of places they go, popular music, restaurants are all accurate to the timeline of the story. Having lived in New York my whole life, I found myself smiling at the mention of someplace I used to visit or a restaurant I used to eat at years ago. It's a really nice touch and really personalizes the experience of reading the story.

I do feel I have to mention that there is one part of the story that will absolutely break your heart. It deals with a real-life tragedy, one that affected our entire nation, not just those in New York, and you will cry hard as you read this portion of the story. I was really impressed with how beautifully the author was able to write about the event and how it affects Mia's life. I can only imagine how hard it must've been to write, as I could hardly read the words through my tears. Have your tissues handy. I warn you. However, while it is tough to get through, it is worth it. We are taught that as horrible as a situation can be, perhaps it does happen for a reason and I think in Mia's story this is exactly the lesson to be learned. She came through it, survived it and what she finds at the end of the journey is worth all the heartache.

I so strongly recommend this series, starting with Searching For Moore. You will want to have Moore to Lose handy so that you can start immediately upon finishing the first book. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this story so much. I have not only fallen in love with most of the characters, but the author as well. Thank you Julie Richman for giving us this series. I am eagerly awaiting the next installment.

I'm just going to throw it out there from the start. Searching for Moore is one of my favorite books this year, so I couldn't wait to see what happened in the next part of Schooner and Mia's story. I just assumed it would pick up where the first left off, and we would get the fallout of Mia's accident. I must admit, I was a little disappointed when I found out this book was going to be about the missing 24 years of Mia's life. I wanted Schooner! After reading Moore to Lose (Needing Moore Series), I have to say that I almost loved it more. ;)

This book is almost all Mia, and it is brilliant. We already know what Schooner was doing during those years he and Mia were apart. Those years with Mia was a complete mystery. Her story was so captivating that I honestly forgot about Schooner for a good part of it. There I said it! I felt guilty, almost like cheating on him, but I couldn't help it.

The first man in Mia's life after Schooner was her professor, Tom Sheehan. Tom was good looking, smart, charismatic and a player. I think I was able to like Tom because I knew she didn't end up with him. He was a person that helped her over her heartbreak and helped bring the old Mia back to life. He made her feel desired again. Their relationship was definitely hot, and I kind of loved him even when I shouldn't have. Tom made Mia laugh.

Tom's exit from Mia's life was exactly how I figured it would be. The actual scene was so great that I highlighted the whole part. Mia's words and actions were so her and so hilarious. The part of her life after the breakup was anything but funny. I think I knew deep down that Mia's rape was going to come back to bite her eventually. How she dealt (or didn't deal) with it was extremely painful for me to read.

The other man before Schooner was the one that I fell in love with. Michael was such a sweet guy. He was everything Mia needed at the time. He didn't push her, but was so patient and attentive to what she needed. I knew she clearly wasn't going to be with him in the end. I just didn't want him broken by her. I wanted Julie to write him a HEA and everything work out for both of him. I had a feeling about what was coming, but it didn't prepare me for what happened next.

You probably don't know this, but Julie Richman is a stickler for details. She researches her books almost to the point of being obsessive, but I think that's why her books are so amazing. If you don't believe me, wait until you get to around the 60% mark. The emotion and the conversation that takes place in the next pages will be with me for a very long time. I still get goose bumps when I think about this section.

Schooner does make an appearance at the beginning and the end of Moore to Lose, and I have to say that I am not too happy with him right now. I can't tell you why, but I hope Julie doesn't make me want to junk punch him in book three!

I think this is one of the best series out there, Hookers! It is an amazing story, it is full of emotion, and it is real. The relationships are complex and the characters are unpredictable. Julie will wring you out emotionally and leave you craving Moore!

Best book in the series, wish it was possible to give it more then 5 stars!!

I will start off by saying that I believe this will be the most important piece of the puzzle to the whole series. Without this book, I don't feel that the story of Mia and Schooner will have came full circle for the readers once this series is finished.

Anyone who thought Julie was just going to hand over the HEA in this book needs to re-read SFM and realize you have a story that isn't so easily unraveled like most of the other books that get written. And for making us sweat and be on this journey with her through such a gripping story of two love's lost then found makes me admire her more as an author.

Moore to Lose, is the missing years of Mia after leaving Schooner in CA. Learning how she lived and got to become the successful business women was great, it gave me a lot of answers to the questions I had, once I read the last lines of Searching for Moore. I was also glad to learn just how some of the characters from book one came to be a part of Mia's life.

Was Mia the good girl, or did she rock a few boats? (no pun intended) You'll just have to read Moore to Lose to find out!

For the Author, Julie A. Richman, I was once again blown away by your brilliant writing filled with such raw and genuine emotions, as well as your attention to details and taken on a heart-stopping roller coaster that I could ride over and over!! And I THANK YOU for giving us this EPIC story and will be patiently waiting to see what happens next!

I was waiting very very impatiently for this book and it did NOT disappoint! This book is about Mia and what happened after she disappeared from college and left Schooner.
Usually when I read a book series that the first book is from one characters point of view and the second book is from a different characters view I get bored with the second book. I find it repetitive and not very interesting. Moore to Lose is so not like that. I could not put the book down and was racing to the end to find out the answer to the huge cliffhanger we were left with in Book 1.
This book ends with another cliffhanger but not nearly as intense as the cliffhanger in Book 1. I cannot wait for book 3!! Please write really fast Julie!!!

Needing Moore Series
The Needing Moore Series by Julie A.Richman
Adult contemporary trilogy. Must be read in order.
FULL SERIES REVIEW

I have been wanting to read the Needing Moore series by Julie Richman for a long time, but never really got a chance to commit to a 3-book series. I have heard so many amazing things, that when I saw it was on audio, I grabbed the whole series ASAP.

I loved the epic story that covered over 25 years. I loved the realistic characters. However, I don't recommend the audio version of this series. At first, I was okay with the male narrator (first and third book), but he got on every last nerve after a little while. It's a testament to how much I enjoyed the story that I was able to continue to listen to the full series.

In Searching for Moore (Book 1) Schooner Moore (Why oh why does he have such a bad name? It totally went with the annoying narrator's voice) was a golden boy. Gorgeous to a fault, tennis star, wealthy, modeling since he was in diapers. CJ was the golden girl. You know the kind...cheerleader barbie bitch. She and Schooner got together in college because that's who they were expected to be with.

But during college orientation (in the 80's), Schooner's family joined up with Mia's family for the tour. Mia was so different from anything Schooner had known. First of all, she was from New York. An east coast, free spirited, little bit bohemian, pot smoking, tell-it-like-it-is 16 year old who was smart enough to start college young. Schooner was fascinated by her, and found that he was able to really be himself with her, not the waspy, tennis playing rich boy he played et every day.
“He was the All-American Boy. Handsome, polite, top student, great athlete, buddy, boyfriend, son, soon-to-be frat brother. Schooner kept everyone happy.
Schooner Moore had no fucking idea who he really was.”

But when CJ went to study abroad, Schooner and Mia finally got to explore what they had. And it was beautiful. Their love affair was fresh and sweet, even when Schooner majorly fucked up.
“And then you came along. And I could be me. I have never felt so connected to another person or so happy.”

The second part of Searching for Moore (Book 1) takes place 24 years later. Schooner and Mia are reconnected after 24 years apart via Facebook, and the love affair begins again.

Searching for Moore ended on a MAJOR cliffy, so I immediately downloaded the second book, Moore to Lose, even though I really couldn't stand the narrator's voice.

Lo and behold, book 2, Moore to Lose , had a woman narrating! Because this was Mia's story. It began really frustrating, because it jumped back 24 years instead of addressing the cliffhanger, but I soon got into it. This story covered the 24 years they were apart, and in many ways this was my favorite of the three books. First of all because I liked the female narrator better than the male (but I still wasn't thrilled). But mostly because it was real. It was such an honest journey that many young New York City women went through in the 90s and early 2000s.

It was heartbreaking to see Mia's unhappiness without Schooner. She wasn't miserable, but she never fully gave of herself. He was always there, in the back of her mind, no matter how much she tried to expel him.
"Where are you? Am I supposed to go through this lifetime without you? Were we just not meant to be together in this lifetime? Would I even recognize you if we were to meet?" As tears streamed down her cheeks, "Or did I already lose you?" You're my go-to, Schooner, she thought.

Mia got a little crazy.
"Suffice it to say it involved two men and a lot of drugs."

But eventually after a few losers, she finally began to let go with a good one. Then Julie Richman pulled the rug out from under me and I bawled my eyes out. It may have been in my top 5 book cries because to me, it was all too real.

But eventually we get back to the present day, and back to Schooner's POV:
"Baby Girl, do you have any idea what you do to me?" There were smiles at either end of the phone at the reprise of the words that started a lifelong love affair.
"Schooner..."
"Yeah, Baby Girl..."
"It's smoochal."

And once again...a helluva cliffy.

Moore than Forever was the culmination of the series and where everything came full circle. I love reading about an older couple in their 40's and I can't get over how much you really bond with the realistic characters.

Screen Shot 2015-12-31 at 1.12.32 AM

Moore than Forever really brought them together again and is a much happier book. I felt myself shedding much more happy than sad tears, and it is no where's near as angst filled as the first two. It was a beautiful end to the series.
Series Likes:

•Reading (or listening to) a full series in order really connects you to the characters to begin with, but since Julie introduced a life-long love, there was even more to connect to.
•Such realistic characters!
•So much emotion.
•Spanning 25 years, we had a New Adult and a very adult book in one.
•Julie was never afraid to "go there".
•Schooner is so alpha sexy (but that part of him was totally ruined by the narrator).
•Mia was so relatable to me (I am about her age with a similar background).
•The writing was excellent.
•Great side characters and people you love to hate.
•Very sexy sexing.

Series Dislikes:

•Schooner--the unsexiest name ever.
•Couldn't stand the audiobook narrators after a while.
•I loved "baby girl" and "smoochal" but either they were used way too much or because I was listening and kept hearing them in the annoying narrator's voice they began to drive me crazy.
•That the cliffy from Book 1 isn't immediately resolved in book 2.
•Schooner was a little too "good". Everyone thought he was perfect.

The Down & Dirty:

The Needing Moore Series is an epic, encompassing read. It covers over 25 years and allows you to really get in deep to the story and the characters. Mia was so realistic, she was extremely relatable. The stories made you FEEL. I went through every range of emotions reading this series. I feel like they need to be read in order start to finish with no books in between. I spent about 5 weeks listening to the series so I felt like they were really a part of me and was very invested in their lives. But I do NOT recommend this as an audiobook series. I think if I read it rather than listened it may be a 5-star favorite series (except for the name Schooner). The male narrator, Paul Woodson, was the most annoying narrator I have listened to, and there was absolutely nothing alpha or sexy about him, and the female narrator in Moore to Lose was almost as bad.

The Needing Moore series is one that will stick with me. There were so many ups and downs. Angst and heartbreak, love, hope, laughs, everything. I cried shocked tears, I cried heartbroken tears, I cried happy tears, and I loved seeing the couple reconnect as mature, older adults. Make sure you block the time to read all three in a row, because those cliffys are intense.

Book two of the series is full of enlightenments, filling in the blanks throughout the 24 years when Mia & Schooner were apart. Most of the story is about Mia, establishing her business, her reckless behavior trying to cope with her loss of the love of her life among many, many other devastating circumstances she had to endure. The author really got into the mind of this woman & revealing her many insecurities as well as her strengths. Mia has been through a lot so thankfully she is also very strong willed & shares her life with employees/friends that are a wonderful support system for her. I especially loved the mini chapters where a street sign, a news report or an overheard phone call triggered memories for both Mia & Schooner. They would stop in their tracks, just for a moment & embrace their memory & feelings. A wonderful touch to the story. Book two also ends with a bit of a cliff hanger so I say bring on the final installment in the series.

Moore to Lose by Julie A Richman

4.5 stars!!!

“The one thing that she would give up everything for was not a fantasy and she knew that. She had tasted it. She had savoured it. She had consumed it. She had been consumed by it. And now, even if she had a treasure map leading her to it, she would still be at a loss as to how to find it. Or what she would do with it, if she did find it.”

Moore to Lose is the sequel to Searching For Moore. I loved this book but I was also extremely frustrated at times, not because the story was poor or it didn’t go the way I wanted, but there was a distinct lack of Schooner in this book and I wanted more Schooner Moore.

This book explores Mia’s back story, what happened in those years that she was apart from Schooner. She has certainly led an entertaining life that’s for sure. Her strong character is prevalent throughout the book but we also see her moments of weakness and some of these are far from pretty. There was one part of this book that absolutely killed me and I didn’t see it coming a mile off, but it hits you like a freight train and I cried my eyes out, big fat ugly tears!!

Mia had a few serious relationships in her life after Schooner. I will start with Tom, he was 10 years her senior and a teacher. He was an Irish charmer that had all the girls in his classes vying for his attention. He was a poet, had written screen plays and was seriously good looking but he knew it. Tom and Mia eventually get together but I must admit I did have a big problem with his nick name for her “jailbait” it just sounds all kinds of wrong. Whilst the beginning of their relationship made me cringe you do get a feel for their dynamic after a while, however, I never warmed to him at all, there was something there I didn’t like and in the end my gut feeling was justified.

“Did you ever really love me, Schooner? Why the elaborate ruse? Flying high, a flirtation with the sun. She was Icarus. He was the sun. And that brief flirtation melted her wings. Who was she kidding? Her wings were the least of the damage. He had her heart. And she didn’t know of she’d ever get it back.”

Michael, Michael, Michael, I loved Michael, he was perfect, totally and utterly perfect. It is rare that I love two male leads in a book but I did love him, he was kind, considerate, gorgeous, just the epitome of a perfect gentleman. Although we got Mia’s insecurities a bit during their relationship I couldn’t see how this relationship would end. Of course we know it does as she is single when she meets up with Schooner again later on.

“…you got that, Buster!”…”Yeah, I got it. I love you Mia, I love you so much…” “Good, because you’ve got me as long as you will have me…” “Sounds great, lets get married…”

This book also covers everything else in between, times in Mia’s life that she genuinely wants to forget. There are one night stands and drug usage, times that she is totally embarrassed about but she manages to pull herself out with the aide of some amazing friends. Her friendship circle is amazing and they really were there for her throughout, she made a new family. However, Schooner was always there, gnawing away.

Finally we get Schooner, Schooners POV when he eventually finds and meets with Mia and also what happens after, especially with CJ and his children. I did find this bit interesting and it did add to the story. I still hate CJ with a passion, which is actually hard to do, I very rarely hate a character despite how “bad a person” they are, but I actually couldn’t stand her.

“And now Karma. Today the universe finally rights itself. Karma is truly going to be a bitch.”

Then eventually we get Mia and Schooner’s story going forward. Towards the end of this book me and Schooner needed to have words. Some of his actions were totally and utterly WTF moments. We all know the course of true love never runs smooth and Schooner’s family make sure they try and interfere at every available opportunity. However, I was seriously pissed at the end.

I need Book 3 now!! I need to know what happens…my brain was mush by the time this book finished and I could have personally killed Julie A Richman. I should stop reading these trilogies until they are all out, but I am a sucker for them. At least they keep you on your toes and you have another instalment to look forward to.

Another thing I love about this series is that the couple are in their 40’s. It is refreshing to read a story about my own age group. Even though this series spans their life from their teens to their 40’s you feel as if you have live their life with them and it gives you a greater understanding of the characters and to a certain degree why they act the way they do, Also, you are getting both sides of the story so you have the full picture.

This book is beautifully written, a real page turner and once again I couldn’t put it down. Seriously cannot wait for the next one. I need more Schooner and Mia in my life!! Fab series!!

“Well, it’s true. I can’t think of anything but you.”
He was smiling ear-to-ear. “It’s smoochal, Baby Girl. It’s smoochal.”

Dear Julie Richman, Searching for Moore was an unforgettable book that I feel in love with and was a bit of a baby over, but Moore to Lose just down right AMAZING!!!! Seriously I absolutely LOVED this book!!!

This book takes you back to the years Mia and Schooner were apart. I was not sure I would love this route of story telling but it really was so perfectly written that it worked extremely well. I love that outside characters are in this book and show the effect they had on Mia’s life and why she is where she is now.

For a while during this book I was actually rooting for an outside character, but alas that did not work out for me (or Mia). In the back of my mind, and in my heart I just cant let go of Schooner… I get that she is positive he betrayed her, but I just love him.

This book will take you all over the place with your emotions, so prepare yourself with some good wine, maybe a little tissue, and a few hours because I promise once you start reading this book you will not want to put it down.

This review is extremely hard to write because I want to put every spoiler in here for you so you don’t have to go through any anxiety that I went through… but I don’t think that will be appreciate by Julie or the blog company… My advice? Dedicate this weekend to two books… Searching for Moore, and Moore to Lose.

Both books are amazing 5 star books and you really need to enjoy both of them!!!

I completely inhaled this book in one sitting as I was dying to know what was going to happen after the cliffhanger of Searching For Moore.

So we are let off that cliff at the beginning parts of the book and then we go back to the beginning again, kind of.

This book is basically Mia's backstory, filling in the 24 years they were apart from each other.

Her life at her new college and the guys she met. Her success starting her own company and the men she dated.

There are moments when she just feels so lost and makes really stupid decisions. All the way through though she can't let go of the love she has for Schooner.

This is beautifully told story and there is one particular moment that was sooooo sad it had me in tears :(

We do end up at the present day again but then we are left with another cliffie and damn it we have to wait and see what will happen. I'm guessing book three will be Schooner's back story and if there isn't a HEA I will cry!

Loved this and can't wait for 'Moore'

Moore to Lose sent me on a roller coaster of emotions! I loved the crazy ride and loved it from start to finish!

In Moore to Lose we go back 24 years to revisit Mia's life that she was apart from Schooner. We see how Mia evolves into the woman she is today. I was so excited to get to go back and kind of relive those moments with Mia. It made me feel closer to her in a way. It helps you make sense of a lot of things as the story continues.

Just when you think you have it all figured out! BAM! Julie has you shaking your head and saying WTH? Did that just happen? I was clutching my kindle so tight! Grab your tissues because you will need them! My heart broke for Mia but she showed us how she overcame a lot of the horrible things that happened to her.

I give Moore To Lose 5 stars!! It was a beautiful crazy ride and I loved every minute of it! Thank you Julie for such an amazing story and for the wonderful characters that touch our hearts! If you haven't already start this series today. You won't be sorry!

Bloody amazing sequel to SFM!
Loved that the set up of the book was unusual with time spent on how Mia's life was during her and Schooners time apart, it was heartbreaking at times to see how lost she was and to turned believing he never really loved her.
This is a story of second chance love at its finest and it's beautiful and heartbreaking and that ending...bloody wow!
CJ is a first class bitch that really needs to be taken down next time! And someone really has some making up to do in the final book of Scooner and Mia's growth together.
Truly brilliant

So I just read books 1 & 2 back to back. These books have everything that l love about reading. It is a good day when an author can make me feel what the characters are feeling without telling me what to feel. I am about to re-read again. Thank you so much for these books and I cannot wait for the final installment. I think these might just be my favorite trilogy ever but will just have to wait to see once I read #3!!!

*Moore To Lose is not a stand alone novel. It is book 2 in the Needing Moore Series. If you haven't read book 1 titled Searching For Moore then you may want to hold off reading. My review will contain major spoilers*

Reading the title of this book Moore To Lose and you would think that it revolves around the very ending of the first book. No, and that's just the beginning. This book is all Mia. I love Mia she is such a strong, independent, and lovable character. This book was full of everything I wanted to know. How Mia spent the last twenty four years. Everything that lead up to her reconnection with Schooner. The very wonderful and amazing man that stole her heart.

Moore To Lose picks up where the last book ended. Mia is on strict bed rest since her fall. Well since Schooners offspring pushed her down the stairs. So she's having a hard time staying in bed and following her doctor's orders. Then we go back to where Mia's life was like when she switched schools abruptly. The pain from her rape and losing the one thing that she thought was real. She immediately makes some real trustworthy friends and even rebounds with a professor. They actually are together for a long time before the relationship ends. Every relationship she enters into she always compares them to Schooner. She believes that whole time that Schooner never cared for her. She suffered the whole time. The connection she has with Schooner is unbreakable. The friendship and love they forged when they were young was one that is very unique. Finding each other and being able to fall back in love with one another is what really healed them both.

Now Schooner is a real amazing man. He loves Mia, and he loves both of his children. He wants to make everyone happy. Schooner open your eyes! Mia is the love of your life. Please don't screw this up. You may not get a third chance. If your happy nothing else should matter. That's exactly what I would say to him. I'm really rooting for Mia and Schooner to have there hea. Time will tell. Expect some more surprises. This one kept me up reading into the wee hours of the night.

This was a great follow up to the first book in the series. I loved the story and it was a very emotional read. It proves that the more things change, the more they stay the same. Life throws you curve balls and you just have to keep on swinging.

I was completely taken off guard by this series! I was a little iffy about reading about characters this age. Honestly, I thought they were a little old (I like to relive my college days through younger characters) and really who could be HOT at 43? Well, Schooner is!!! Julie totally proved me wrong because I related to these characters alot, more than I expected, probably more than any book I've ever read. My one little complaint is I wish we would have got more of the here and now in Schooner and Mia's relationship during Moore To Lose. Most of the book was told reliving Mia's years apart from Schooner, and while we needed to see that, I wanted more Schooner time which hopefully we will get in the next book because I believe that book will focus on the present lives of Mia and Schooner! 4.5 stars

"Oh Baby Girl, the whole time I was dying, so were you. We were both dying. This was so senseless. This never should have happened."

Moore To Lose starts out in the present and does give us the answers we were looking for as to what happened to Mia after the cliffhanger we were faced with in Moore To Lose. Then the book drops back to the past. It shows what happened after Mia left Schooner and college and how upset she was and not living her life. We see Mia's self-destructive behavior and how she wasn't really dealing with the events of her attack and her painful journey in moving forward from that event. We also get to see Mia make new friends and become involved with several love interests and how even though they help Mia deal with the hurt of losing Schooner, she never really forgets him or gets over him and never experiences the type of loved they one shared. I don't want to summarize and give to much away. You definitely need to read this yourself and experience Mia's journey of self discovery.

It was real. It had always been real. They would work through the demons together...She was his and no one was ever going to take her from him again.

A must read series, one of my top favorites!! Beautifully written, beautiful characters....very emotional, angsty, and heartbreaking to see all the hurt and suffering these characters endured during their time apart. Be warned Julie, throws another cliffhanger at us, so be prepared! I can't wait for the next installment!!!

In Searching for Moore, I was instantly caught up in Schooner's and Mia's story and after the way SFM ended I was definitely in need of Moore to Lose to take me off that cliff that I was left on. I love Julie's writing style and found myself again completely involved with Mia and Schooner in Moore to Lose.

After SFM, I was ready to jump headfirst into the next chapter of Mia and Schooner. I fully expected Moore to Lose to be that but really, it was so much more than that. It was Mia's story. In my mind, it's the perfect transition between book 1 and what I fully anticipate (hope?) will happen in book 3. Julie shows us all that Mia goes through from the time she leaves Schooner at college until they meet again.

As difficult as it may be to see Mia's life and those she surrounds herself with after leaving Schooner, those were moment of growth and learning. Mia is hanging on by a thread and hasn't really dealt with some of her issues from book 1. Moore to Lose is an opportunity to see her grow and come to terms with all that has happened. As someone that is similar in age to Mia when she and Schooner reconnect, MTL was real and emotional and reminded me how all those who are part of our lives make an impact. A few of those people in MTL were Seth, Tom, and Michael. I won't spoil anything but there is one part of this story that hit me very hard and had me sobbing for Mia (dammit - doing it again even thinking about it!). Julie Richman knows how to touch on a spectrum of emotions and her character development is spot on as we see Mia's growth. I was quite a bit frustrated with Schooner throughout part of this book so I'll be impatiently waiting to see what happens in book 3.

Overall, I was immediately drawn in to Moore to Lose and found myself finishing in 2 sittings (not 1 because I couldn't keep the eyes open any more!). Julie Richman delivered a book that had my feelings right at the surface and I'll certainly jump on book 3 the moment it's available! (Oh, yeah, there's a slight cliff on this one too...)

Mia and Schooner's story continues in Moore To Lose by Julie A. Richman. Readers have been anxiously awaiting the release of this book.

Moore To Lose picks up where book 1 left off. The reader gets the resolution from the cliffhanger in book 1, but all is not well in Schooner and Mia's paradise. Her pregnancy is high risk. The injuries from her fall have put her at higher risk. She is put on bed rest and this does not bode well for Mia. She has a hard time being inactive. She will endure this because her baby is more important than anything. Schooner is supportive and a bit high handed with Mia's well being...that is until...his prior life begins to interfere. His son , who caused all the trouble to begin with, is at it again. Schooner feels guilty because he feels he has brought on his son's destructive actions. He leaves New York to get things settled with his son. This is the worse thing he could do at this point in his relationship with Mia. Although Mia is supportive of Schooner repairing his relationship with his son, she still does not trust his son. She does not trust his ex wife either and fears that this trip to California will be the final thread that breaks their relationship and lifetime of happiness apart.

Moore To Lose gives us more insight to Mia. As Mia reflects upon her life from the day she met Schooner to present day, the reader gets to see how Mia's life was between college and present day. She has had a hard road. Her life will bring the reader to tears. She deserves happiness. She has been denied this so many times but has continued on and made herself into a self reliant, dynamic force.

We also get to see a bit of Schooner's life. We see the misery he has endured.

Schooner and Mia are meant to be together. Now there are more obstacles in their path to happiness. These may be obstacles that neither can break down and get through.

Yes...the book ends in another cliffhanger. This sucks for the readers. We want more of Mia and Schooner's story. We want their happily ever after. Hopefully book three will come out sooner.

I highly recommend this book.

If you’ve read Searching for Moore, the first book in the Needing Moore series, you will understand how devastated I was when I reached the conclusion, only to be left teetering on the edge of a cliff. And this happened after riding a roller coaster of emotions while reading the book. You might think, I then proceeded to send Julie Richman hate mail and she even thought that I might, but I didn’t because I loved the book so much. I suppose I could be called a masochist, but I love reading a book that takes me on an emotional journey.
So when I started reading Moore to Lose I was relieved to have THAT question resolved. As the book continued, I thought that I was in for a gentler ride. Well, that thought didn’t last long. First of all, I was surprised when I was thrown back in time to the missing 24 years, the years when Mia and Schooner were separated.
Apart from the fact that I felt like I was reliving Mia’s anguish and heartache, I also got to meet new characters, characters that I grew to love. There were good times and not so good times. I experienced some nostalgia because I remember those years and the music fondly. But then I experienced that moment that I nearly threw my Kindle across the room. (It’s a good thing I love my Kindle so much.) I also cried and just sat, because I was stunned. I had an inkling of what I was going to happen because I picked up on some subtle points, but I was still stunned.
The story is not over. There’s not a cliff hanger, but it’s not over and I am eagerly waiting for the next book in the series so I can find out what happens next.
I gave Moore to Lose 5 out of 5 stars. Part of me wishes that I hadn’t given the first book in the series 5 stars, so I could give this one more, but that one deserved those 5 stars as well.
