Dear Goodreads,

I promise to not go to far as to get my review flagged for the twentieth time. Additionally, no half naked men or women were harmed in this review.

Complicated by You is  dark at times and odd toward the end. It was so so so much fun to write it.

So I read this book today and I am knots--TOTAL knots people. It made me happy, horny, angry, and then slightly psychotic because I need to know what happens. I can't wait until I read the next book. Seriously people! I CAN'T wait!
With that being said...Prepare yourself...There will be spoilers, spoilers, and more spoilers!!

I like Evie's character a lot. She is very likable and has a good head on her shoulders. She has loved her best friend Jay since they were kids
Complicated By You is a book that strings a popular concept with a twist. Complicated By You is the first in the Coventen Campus Trilogy. This is a story about an interracial friendship that isn't really a friendship after all....

Evie is a junior at Proctor University in Coventon, Florida where she is majoring in math. She followed her childhood best friend, Heisman Trophy candidate Jason "Jay". Evie has been pining for Jason since they were kids, but doesn't think he would ever see her as anyth

This book started off with a really good story line/plot but as I went deeper, it just fizzled out and sort of got creeptastic. The whole sharing Jay thing came way the fuck out of left field for me. You don't go from saying you're breaking up with one girl in 2 days to wanting to share her with the other girl you supposedly love more than words.

It could have been such an amazing book if it would have been based solely on Jay and Evie. Adding Cynthia into the mix just destroyed any hope of me li

3.5 from me -

I’ve sat on this for a couple of days to see if my opinion changed at all. It hasn’t, so it’s time to post what I thought. I LOVED the first 3/4 of the book. Loved it. Evie, a strong woman, who has had it bad for her best friend Jay for years. She really strikes me as a strong smart woman for most of the book. I loved the interaction between her and Jay. I loved their other best friend Pipe. He was awesome, hilarious, and he had his own drama going on. Bonus: He knows all the words

I loved reading Complicated by You by Kenya Wright. The relationship between Jay and Evie is fun, unique, steamy, and genuinely frustrating at times. That said, I adored the closeness between Evie and Jay. They're a perfect balance for each other. I did find it a little unbelievable that it would take so long for Jay and Evie to realize they mutually have feelings for each other, but it seems both were a little in denial.

I have to admit that Ms. Wright blew me away with the twist with Cynthia. I

I'm conflicted.

Ok. I'm ready to write my review. I liked this book but I also hated this book. Complicated by You's rating for me is somewhere between a 2 and 3. If i think about it too much I want to give it 2 stars maybe less.

I liked Evie and thought she's a great conflicted heroine. She's smart, funny, and a little reckless. Hell she's college girl. Then's there Jay.... I like him but he's not a hero. I wouldn't say he's the bad guy maybe the bad guy's sidekick. He's funny, manly but weak.

I read the previews about this book and said to myself that I didn't want to read it because the set up to this story is similar in design to Santeria Habitat series with Lenore, Zulu and Meshack. While I really love Kenya Wright as an author and she can tell some amazing stories. I can honestly say that I was disappointed with this book. As love that the Santeria Habitat series I hated this series. Thank goodness the similarities begin and end with the set up to the story.

The story begins with

Kenya Wright and her love triangles...what can I say? She knows how to write them. She makes each of the characters feelings and motivations realistic and understandable and where most love triangles I come across in my reading usually earn a lot of eye rolling because the choice is so obvious or the conflict is completely contrived, her love triangles always keep me reconsidering my stance on how things should turn out in the end and I don't feel like the drama in the story is just there for th ...more

Within the first paragraph, the author sets the tone for the story. She dumps the readers right in the middle of this messy love triangle with little warning. However, it also give the reader a chance to know right then and there is this is the book for them. You see, when the reader starts this book, they are immediately thrown into a very interesting situation that involves voyeurism.

I must admit that I never had the college dorm experience. So for all I know, people hook up and sex while the

This is more like 3 1/2 stars I really like her writing its very intriguing it draws you in but I had a problem with the story line. I guess like the name of the book Its was just complicated I just want to know what is up with Jay, he just seemed greedy to me and Evie well she was just horny, like all the time. Then his girlfriend Cynthia she was just odd I mean Muppets bead spread, muppets lamp muppet poster, muppet stuffed animals. They are in college you usually step it up a notch..but anywa ...more
First off, I'm peeved at whoever wrote the little summary for this.

This ain't no epic love story about a girl who loves too much. It ain't. This is about some really creepy, possibly mentally ill people.

The girl just comes off kinda skeevy. I can't relate to her mindset at all. Not at all. Not in the slightest. No.

The guy is all kinds of shady. From chapter one he started off as sketchy and then he just kept dropping points throughout the whole story. He's either extremely weak and

You get cut, but you don't feel it. All you sense is love. Only that connection keeps you breathing another day."

Holy freaking COW!!!

Why isn't Complicated By You on bestseller lists? It should be and I don't say that lightly. Kenya Wright has done something amazing in a genre well-nigh short of amazing. R

3.5/5.. Evie and Jay have been best friends since they were children. They share everything, including a mutual attraction for one another, and yet, they are both completely unawares. Perhaps the fact that Jay has a girlfriend, Cynthia, who happens to be Evie’s roommate sent some mixed signals!

Evie is a fierce character. She’s written as a strong young woman with backbone and common sense. She usually checks her brain at the door when it comes to Jay, but the heart does strange things when it c

I love Pipe the most. He cracks me up especially his love of Rocky Horror Picture. His insight into Evie and Jay is wonderful to see and something they both need.

The story I fear will have heartache for Evie and I don't want that. She deserves to have Jay and love him freely without all the complications. If only they weren't too afraid in the beginning to express themselves this mess wouldn't be happening.

Cynthia had no right to do what she did. But Jay as sweet and kind he may be this is par

I am going to say that if that show sister wives had this much drama I would have been on top of this show every day. This book had me rereading it over and over. In some parts I was like nope I know I didn't read that I need to read it again then I get to another spot and say I don't believe that I just read that and then I had to read it again. I loved it even though I thought that Jay was a selfish baby you know I just felt like how can you love two people at the same time and respect the oth ...more

Wow! I must say, I never thought this was where the story was going when the title said "Complicated." I am not sure I like the situation Evie is in, but I am overjoyed in being a fly on the wall during her journey. She is relateable and funny;I am a big fan of sarcasm! I am disappointed in Jay though using Evie's feelings for him against her better judgement, selfish. I love Pipe and the fact that he the GBF to both Evie and Jay; I want to steal him away for myself! Overall, I enjoyed the book ...more

Holy moly this book plot is a new one for me- Truly has a lot of those wtf moments!
It's kind of sad and a bit naughty the way Evie feels about Jay & Cynthia getting it on only 4 feet from her bed. Frankly that's kind of crapy of a best friend to do especially once all Jay's cards are laid on the table. There's something going on with Cynthia and when it comes out and what she suggest is really a wtf moment. My heart was going out to Evie and I just wanted her to run for the hills. The book ends

I received this book in exchange for my honest review. I really did enjoy this book. It's a story about friendship, love and crossing that fine line between the two. As much as I enjoyed the story it also made me very irritated at times as well but I guess that's a good thing, right? The story actually ended up taking a direction that I didn't see coming. It also ended with a cliffhanger. I am looking forward to seeing what happens in book two!!! I would definitely recommend it. ...more

Another friends-to-lovers story that I really enjoyed reading. Evie has been in love with her friend, Jay for a while now. But Jay is currently unavailable. I feel the author did a great job portraying Evie's conflict, and quite interesting way of resolving who ends up with whom. Great read!!! If you enjoy friends-to-lovers with some steamy scenes on the side, I recommend this one!! ...more

I really enjoyed the characters in this series. They were so different and exciting. I loved the humor. I loved the loyalty of Evie, Jay and Pipe. They truly had each other’s backs no matter what. There was lots of heartache, heartbreak and hopelessness, but also a lot of empowering moments as well. Great read!

I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. Thanks for the opportunity to review!

I felt this story was well written, with very few grammatical/spelling errors. Honestly, errors aren't a big deal to me so long as I can follow the story, but they are important to some people. I'm also not an English major, so there were probably errors that I didn't notice. For me, the story flowed well and at a good pace. It was a quick read (I finished it in about 3 hours). I give this novella 2.5/3 stars because the plot made me want to tear my hair out and spit fire but the writing was so good that I just keep reading with my mouth wide open...minus the fire and hair tearing.

Before I go on my rant let me say, Ms. Kenya Wright, you are an amazingly engaging storyteller. Keeping in mind that this was a novella, you did a fantastic job of developing the characters in such a limited amount of time
