So, I Read This Book Today

I just finished beta reading J. K. Walker’s “Sanguine Eyes.” It is in beta right now, so not out yet, but I was entirely impressed by J. K.’s latest edition of the “Salt Lake After Dark” series.

This series, set in Salt Lake City, Utah, begins with “Glacial Eyes (Salt Lake After Dark).” Glacial Eyes (Salt Lake After Dark, #1) by J.K. Walker Jasmine Bedeau’s life has suddenly become quite, shall we say, interesting. The kind of interesting that is like that old Chinese curse: Shall you live in interesting times. And her interesting is more than sh
Like a good supernatural fight scene? Like when all the supernaturals play nice, band together, even if for only a little while? Hopefully you won’t have a problem laughing in the midst of disaster, because once again, J. K. Walker takes us into the mind and heart of Jazz, the snow leopard shifter with some priceless inner and verbal dialogue going on throughout. Sanguine Eyes has it all, supernaturals in a tizzy, a very dangerous designer drug on the streets of Salt Lake and Jazz to come to the ...more

J. K. Walker does it again!
This 3rd instalment in Jazz’s story has everything you could hope for – breathless pace, witty lines and characters that jump right off the page and into your face.
The opening scene launches straight into action with a bloody battle and a seemingly unstoppable foe, fuelled by the latest drug on the streets – sanguine. While Jazz sets about dealing with the aftermath and discovering the origin of this magically enhanced drug, the complications in her life pile up - a my

With a werewolf gang moving into the area and starting a war with the local werecats, a new supernatural drug hitting the streets that makes people preternaturally strong and nearly immune to pain and injury, several disappearing vampires and a new werecougar who really needs Jazz to show her the ropes – everything seems to be happening at once for Jazz. It’s overwhelming, it’s non-stop and it threatens the supernatural in the city from several angles

Not least because of supernaturally-aware gov

Interning with the Salt Lake Police Department, Jasmine Bedeau sits in the police car with Detective Tabatha Granger when a call comes in regarding a nearby robbery. Walker writes crime drama with a twist and supernaturals without stereotyping. Everything in this tale weaves together, building on what came before it and leading her readers towards a climactic ending. There is an easy flow to this story that keeps you hypnotized by the tale. The story itself is also exciting and unique. I was completely wrapped up in the storyline. Walker threw me for a loop that I would have never seen coming in a million years. I also appreciate the passage of time in this ...more

*I received this book free from the author in exchange for an honest review*

As of right now this is my favorite full-length book in this series. So much happens that it was difficult to find a stopping point. I literally fell asleep in the middle of a chapter because I didn’t want to put it down.

Jasmine’s world never slows down. From the moment she discovered she was a snow wereleopard and part of a supernatural community nothing about her life has been simple. I hate spoilers, so I will try not

I have to admit... it was the cover that drew me in.

Crazy, I know, but I have a thing for both pink hair and unusual eyes. Combine them into a single cover image, and... yeah. I'm totally sold.

Thankfully, this ebook was more than just a pretty cover.

Sanguine eyes had a fast-paced storyline, great dialogue, and quirky characters. It was easy to lose myself within the story, setting real-life on hold for a few minutes at a time. Or, at least it was easy after I got enough of the backstory to go wi

Wow, just finished book three of the Salt Lake After Dark series and I'm breathless!! This was such a great series I'm really sorry to see it end. (In fact, I read the last page a couple of times, and am considering going back to book one and starting over.) I loved these characters and the whole world of the supernatural that JK Walker has created. The stories are thrilling and there is no end to the twists and turns of the plot. Great read, would be perfect for the coming holidays when you've ...more
