For such a quick and easy read this book is not simple, it has many facets that will make reading (and re-reading) it enjoyable to anyone. While the main plot is the developing attraction of spunky (but bratty) Lucy to that of popular, hardworking and handsome Justin, there are a number of other subplots that keep the reader captivated, forcing you to read "just one more chapter."

"Remember you are effortless to love"
This was one of the most beautiful books I've read. Lucy's story changed with every twist and turn of betrayal, love, and regret. I constantly felt bad for her because of the horrible things would happen. Somehow though, I knew it would turn out okay in the end. Her story is inspiring, and I feel like lots of girls can relate to her. This novel explores realistic themes like friendship, romance, and even parent-child relationships. It had a lot of cute and cringey moments. Not really sure how to rate it to be completely honest. The main character,Lucy, was bit of a snob really. I hated how she treated people especially her mum and expected everyone to love her back like no..just no...Justin on the other hand, was pretty cool. I really liked him.

OMG this was sooo amazing!!! I literally couldn't put it down!

As I have said before I have kind of gone off YA and I hardly read them unless they are dystopia or fantasy which is again still on rare occasions. But I thought I would give it a shot and hope for the best.

Oh my holy cuteness! What an adorable read with a droolable boy (gah... Justin, you are mine!) and a wonderful book for teens. (And YA old lady fans like me :))
First... LOVE THIS COVER! It's adorable, and sets the tone up immediately. It's a light and fun book, with its doses of deep and dark, all in the right moments that leave you going "awww" in a cute way, and "awww" in a that's-so-sad way.

Take-away point: wasted potential. Read at your own risk.
I’ve been so swamped with academic, school-related reading that I haven’t had time to read for fun. Finally, I forced myself to just sit down, fire up my kindle, and relax.

I am so in love with this book! Finished it in one sitting.
And not to mention how giddy I am to know there's a second book. I totally just one clicked it :)
I don't know if it's me bring pregnant but I sure cried a lot while reading Effortless With You. Her relationship with her mother is what did me in. Broke me and brought me back together. I think it was because I could relate both to mother and daughter.

Lucinda Zwindler is introduced to us as a poster child for teenage-rebellion. As a victim of bullying, betrayal and the cruel nature of high-school cliques, Lucy has adopted a bad attitude as a protective shell and has developed the knack of making poor choices. Her parents reach their boiling-point, step in and mandate her to a summer job painting houses in hopes to teach her some responsibility and get her back on track.

I read this book blind, didn't read the blurb, didn't know what it's about, and I'm happy I did! It's an easy heartwarming 5! It is a beautiful story and I would recommend to all especially the young adults.

EFFORTLESS WITH YOU is a beautiful story about Lucy, a young girl who reinvented herself after a year of constant bullying. Unfortunately, the transformation from bullied basketball player to popular party-goer comes with consequences. Though she now eats in the cafeteria instead of the janitor’s closet, she quits the basketball team, her grades suffer, and her relationship with her parents slips from non-existent to hostile.

A nicely-written YA book that explores not only the obligatory romance, but also issues of self-esteem, parent-child relationship and friendship. The authors fleshes out her characters well, especially Lucy’s and in the beginning, you can’t help but feel flashes of annoyance and frustration whenever Lucy exhibits low self-esteem and ingratiatingly low behavior in order to keep her dubious friendship with Marissa.

There are so any things I loved about this book. I am 30 years old but occasionally enjoy a sweet teen romance story. First the cover...BEAUTIFUL. this book covered so many issues that teen girls go thru everyday...not getting along w parents, losing yourself, bullying, finding yourself, finding love, learning responsibility, sticking up for yourself, and always doing what's best for you! Justin is such an example on what high school boys should be like. If I was a teen I'd definitely be swoonin

This is a sweet, heart-warming tale that combines genuine characters with the real-life teen emotions of love, self-discovery and heartache. The characters come fully realized off the page and the story winds its way softly to a sweet and plausible resolution. I was lucky enough to read this just before it went to print, and the easy to read prose and effortless style make this a very compelling read. If you like romance sprinkled with teen angst, this is definitely one worth reading!

I think this book is fantastic. I started and finished it in one day. I had to. Lucy is such a well developed character and the secondary characters surrounding her were fabulous as well. The pacing was spot on.
Justin is a typical YA guy, yet so much more. His hotness and popularity are what make Lucy dismiss him as just another guy not worth her time. Justin's many layers surprised me, as does it surprise our leading lady.

When I saw the cover and read the synopsis for Effortless with You, I thought it sounded like a cute YA contemporary romance, and it is, but I wasn't expecting just how much I really enjoyed it. It's finally summer. Lucy is looking forward to hanging out at the pool with her popular friend Marissa. She finally has a boyfriend, Zach, and things seem to be going good, well except for at home. When Lucy was a freshman in high school, she suffered some intense bullying because of her athletic abilit

How easy is it to develop self-confidence when your own mother has never really been able to give you anything? This is how Lucy has grown up. Her mother went into post-partum depression shortly after she was born and sixteen years later, there are still lingering effects. As a result, Lucy hasn't had that nurturing and special bond that often makes the difference between self-confidence and withdrawing when life becomes overwhelming. After discovering success as a freshman basketball player, sh

Sweet YA read about Lucy, a girl with self esteem issues. Bullied in her freshman year of high school, she made the social mistake of being as good if not better than her older classmates on the basket ball team. They made her life hell and she learned to hide out, to lose herself so the teasing and taunting would stop.
Marissa is one of the beautiful ones. Somehow she became friends with Lucy and is teaching her how to dress herself to attract guys. It seems to be working beca ...more

"Effortless With You" was a wonderful read and it has to be added to your Must Read List! Lizzy Charles' debut book was amazing! Her story line and character development kept me reading for hours. This is a story of young love, which in itself is great, but I really enjoyed all the subplots which kept me involved along with the development of not only the main characters, but those around them.

3.5 to 4 stars. Enjoyed this book. It's not simply light fluff--there are some good lessons for teen girls in how easy it is to get wrapped up and lost in the desire to become popular and be accepted (don't even get me started on Marissa and my disgust for her). And there were also some real issues between her and her mom.
I loved Justin! He's the stand-up, caring, protective type of guy you want your daughter to date. And I loved that he was open about wanting to stay a virgin until marriage. I ...more

Effortless With You was effortless (and wonderful) to read... It is a beautifully written YA novel; a sweet story that made me feel 16 again. I fell in love with the main character, Lucy, and could completely relate to her-- (well hello, my old 16-year-old, basketball-playing, sassy, rebellious self!). And of course my 16-year-old self fell in love with Justin and his gorgeous eyes, abs, body... everything a teen girl (except Lucy) loves. I enjoyed watching their relationship grow and how they j

This book had my emotions all twisting and turning and I loved it! Lucy the girl has balls, "no. That wasn't your place. Do you think you're like a god or something? 'You deserved to know.' Total bull. Don't I deserve to be treated with respect?" There was one scene I literally almost peed my pants laughing, "another side effect you may notice is some additional attitude and aggression. She apparently hit that boy rather hard across his face when he carried her into the emergency room." Justin I

The first thing I have to say is WOW! It's so hard to find good romances that aren't full of trash slinging and overly sexual scenes. Lizzy's done a great job of bringing out the romance without adding the smut. I think I smiled through the entire thing. Justin is so cute, and such a great guy. Talk about a real hero! This is the type of book I want my daughter to read when she's older so that she can know what true love and romance is.

Interesting read. It took me a bit to warm up to Lucy, but I think that's b/c she was more real teenager and less literary teenager (ie she had issues with her parents and still behaved unreasonably to my adult mind). But she grew up in the story, and it was believable and I rooted for her the whole way. It was really more of a coming of age book, with only a side note of romance. Not sure what I was expecting, but I guess it was different from whatever was going through my head. Touched on some
