Rachel, a Hot Line Volunteer, receives frequent calls from a young, troubled lady who is being frightened by a prowler. When the lady is found murdered Rachael’s involvement with the caller’s life and death increases to the point where her own life is in danger!

Thank you Doris Miles Disney ---now I only have about 30 more out-of-print books to find! And, thank you Troy Public Library! The front dedication: “For the Michigan Club—foes over pennies at cards but always good friends.” ---was intriguing ---and good to know other Michigan Readers have and do enjoy Doris Miles Disney!

Cry For Help was a largely good read. Rachel Carey was a likeable enough character. The story kept my attention. I thought it was going to predictable but the ending did prove me wrong. Some minor B-plots featured that help propel the story but don't really go anywhere otherwise.

The characterization of African Americans in this book through the dialogue did not age well at all.

Before I discovered interlibrary loans I read everything in my local library written by Agatha Christie. After that I discovered Doris Miles Disney. They were light mysteries, kind of just a time filler for a very young me who didn't know what else to read.

Just the right amount of character development while the plot sneaks under the door. I’m a real fan of Doris Miles Disney and she has never disappointed me.
