The air was still, not a sound to break the velvet darkness of the night. He pointed the flashlight into the well and peered down..he stopped. There was something in the well.

This book has a really unique plot-line and I enjoyed it pretty well. It was a mild read but at times it really gave me the creeps. The concept was really good but I feel that the story could have a little ore better towards the end. Still, I enjoyed it and would recommend it to anyone looking for a decent suspense or horror read.

I read Stillwell: A Haunting on Long Island with my Shelfari horror group.

It started off as a promising story. Paul Russo lost his wife to cancer. Feeling very sorry for himself and for his three children, Paul struggles to keep his head above water with daily life.

Then the nightmares begin. And he isn't the only one having them-his son Jesse is too. These were the best parts of the book, in my mind, and I enjoyed the dream sequences a lot. However, they were not enough to elevate this story a
This was a new author to me and I have had this book on my tbr for a long time, so I decided to read it after seeing so many good reviews of it.

This was a very poignant haunting love story of a man that loses his wife to cancer and how he has to cope with life without her. Paul Russo and his children are trying to get their lives back on track after the death of his wife. Paul tries to get back into work as well as he owns a real estate business. An opportunity becomes available to sell a house

~Haunted Mourning~

Paul Russo, a successful Long Island realtor, has lost his wife to a brain tumor. The deceased Allison has left behind a loving, distraught husband and three young children. It has only been a week since Allison passed away, dying despite the expensive, holistic, experimental treatments that Paul sought, one after the other, grasping at new found hope from each. Finally, after Allison is just a shell of her former self, she holds up a hand. Allison has had enough. Paul must let

First and foremost, a large thank you to NetGalley, Michael Phillip Cash, Chelshire Inc., and the Independent Book Publishers Association (IBPA) for providing me with a copy of this book, which allows me to provide you with this review.

Cash provides readers with a wonderful novella, full of chills and action, while keeping the spirit phenomena from becoming too corny. Paul Russo is forced to pick up the pieces from his shattered life after his wife's death. With three children and piles of debt,

When is a haunted house story NOT just your average haunted house story? Not that there's anything wrong with haunted house stories, but Stillwell: A Haunting on Long Island by talented author Michael Phillip Cash is so much MORE than the title implies. It is the story of a man struggling with the loss of the love of his life after a long and painful illness. Overwhelmed with his own grief, he must also deal with the devastation his children are feeling. It wasn't supposed to be like this, and h ...more

Pareidolia: a vague or random image is perceived as recognizable

Michael Phillip Cash has a rich imagination, a gift that comes from being grounded and secure with life as being lived. That he is able from that strong stance to create stories such as STILLWELL embellishes his evident gifts as a writer. In his debut novel BROOD X he was able to create a terrifying tale out of things seen or magnify things seen to become ghastly distortions of credible possibilities. In his current exceptionally we

This was the second novel I have read by author Michael Phillip Cash, the first being Brood X. One thing I can say about this author is that he really knows how to draw you into his stories.

With Stillwell, you get a love-story wrapped up in a family tragedy that snowballs into a paranormal event. What I loved about this story was that it had so many layers to it. You start off with a very loving and devoted husband(Paul) trying to cope with his grief over the loss of his wife(Allison) to brain

This is the second book I have read by this Author. I actually read this book because the first book I read by him, Brood X, was so phenomenal that I had to read what ever else he had published.

If you like ghost stories, and love stories, if you are a parent or a sibling or a child, you will relate to this book. This author has the ability to reach out from the page and touch you on so many different levels.

The book opens after the death of the main characters wife, Allison. The pain he is going

The good: The pace was brisk, and the it was easy to get into the flow of the story.

The not-so-good: Unfortunately, there were several glaring editorial errors that really bothered me. ("Shuttered" instead of "shuddered" was the funniest!)

It was a book about a haunting, true, but seemed to me to be almost equally a love story, as well. While many people will find this to be of no problem, I, personally, like my horror with a little more "bite"--just a personal taste.

It took me less than a day to read this ghostly and heart felt tale. Paul's character starts as a lost soul...he gradually comes to see he must take care of his family and take advantage of his own parents and sister as they do doesn't to help him. The ending odd interesting and thought provoking. I gave the story 5 stars as it entertained me. This is the kind of ghost story I enjoy. Have not read one like this for a long time.

The author has such a vivid imagination. He has such a gift as a writer. I read his debut novel BROOD X, a terrifying tale of very real possibilities. STILLWELL'S main character is Paul who finds himself trying to deal with three children after the death of his young wife. He has not only the grief of his wife'/s death, 3 children to deal with, but he has the every day household chores and he has a job as a Realtor on top of that. Paul is having a hard time focusing. I purchased the audible version of this book so that I could listen to it while I was on a few hour drive. When I got to my destination I stayed in the car to finish listening to the book that's how much I liked it!

First of all I didn't expect it to be a love story and a 3 different couple love story at that! I was impressed that the author was able to get that all in there. I didn't want to see the characters go and its my hope, as it always is when I read a good book, that the author will brin

I have not read many ghost/paranormal tales, so I am not qualified to discuss if what Mr. Cash has created with Stillwell: A Haunting of Long Island follows any of the typical "rules" of ghost stories. That being said. I truly enjoyed this book. It was quite emotional and, as per its title, has a very haunting quality that emanated from the pages.

I will not say that Stillwell: A Haunting of Long Island SCARED me, but the attachment I felt to the characters and the ominous setting and details mad

I love Michael Phillip Cash's work, He builds stories around every day people, almost as if you are a voyeur into their everyday thoughts and lives. His characters are so achingly real they stay with you long after you finished his work . Book Review originally published here:

Stillwell: A Haunting on Long Island is by far my favorite book by author Michael Phillip Cash so far. The story is less straightforward than “The Flip” and “The Hanging Tree”, two other scary stories by aforementioned author. Stillwell is about more than a ghost story. It’s about memories, about letting go, about suffering and pain, and about a love that transcendents time and death. The writing is a touch better tha

I'm obsessed with reading books about ghosts and other paranormal activity. (It's the main reason why my husband and I wrote our own paranormal novel...)
This book is not too long- a little under 300 pages. I finished it in two days- couldn't really put it down.
Now, it wasn't the scariest thing that I've ever read but it did have a few minor creepy parts. I do wish it was a bit scarier, but I still enjoyed it.

I had never heard of this author. He was so nice he sent all of his published books and those of his Mothers when I told him I wanted to win the book and would read it and then donate it to the Library in Linden Iowa that my Mom helps out at. I think he sent me 12 or 13 books in all.

This ghost story of a tormented man whose recently deceased wife’s spirit is being held hostage is a great, fast-paced read.

Stillwell is both a ghost story and a love story. There are also elements of mystery as Paul uncovers the sordid past of Stillwell Manor and the secrets that the well on the property holds.

Parts of the story are sadly amusing, like when Paul is trying to figure out how to care for his children and run the household without his wife there. It’s tragic because his wife will

Stillwell was the first book I read by this author! It’s the story of a man named Paul. He’s struggling with the grief of losing his wife, while trying to hold it altogether. That’s not all, though. His life is slowly descending into an unthinkable, supernatural horror that no human would ever expect.

One of the things I really enjoyed about Stillwell was the details the author added in about little memories Paul would have of his wife. These were so realistic and well-timed that they really adde

I love Michael Cash. I have read a few of his other books and was impressed with his writing style. This book did not disappoint. The characters are so life life I felt like I knew them personally. He could have been talking about my family members. It was an emotional ride for me and I could easily relate to the profound grief the husband was going through.

This is the first book I've read by Mr. Cash. It won't be the last. I enjoyed the book and was impressed with the manner in which the author built the suspense throughout the story. I loved this book. It was just what I was looking for. I was a little disappointed to find out what I did in the prologue regarding the location of Stillwell Manor. ;)

It was a quick read, perfect to take on my weekend getaway. It was so good, in fact, as soon as I finished it, I purchased the author's other book, X Brood.
