The one star was solely for the cupcake recipes at the end.

I could have given 2 stars as hero was celibate during separation. BUT he very publicly dated multiple OW (after h broke things off so no cheating) as he was looking for a suitable mother for his children which up until the quarter of the book the h wouldn’t have been unless he was having his worst nightmare. ALSO, the book STARTS with a line about twin fantasy and even though the author keeps on telling us H didn’t take up the twin’s offer, he still keeps talking about them, and then he contradicts his own thoughts about how only he thinks about h these days by telling his friends he’s having inappropriate thoughts about the twins even if he’s not going to act on it. Why mention this then is beyond me 🤷🏽‍♀️so, from 2 stars it goes to 0, upped because GR still doesn’t have 0 also there’re unverified cupcake recipes.

Now let’s come to why this book gets the freaken zero star? WELL!

This book has a very subtle undertone of pro-gun propaganda. No. Just no. Hero’s state is a very “gun-friendly” state. His word not mine. He is pro gun. Because military. And he thinks h should sway to his way of thinking because he has seen and felt more and therefore knows more about gun even though h has JUST been a victim in mass shooting VERY recently, is suffering from survivors guilt and he knows NOTHING about her past. He just knows gun does more good than damage. One tiny accident h has been in shouldn’t colour her judgement, as their state has the lowest homicidal rate despite being gun-friendly.

Well, then.

First of all, after the recent mass shootings in US there have been numerous military personnel who lost their shit and publicly acknowledged they will never agree nor understand the necessity of carrying gun in lower Manhattan for protection. So imagine my delight when I heard the hero’s excuse for him being pro-gun. And this is while the h IS explaining why she is anti-gun as she has been effected personally. Within the last six months. During their separation.

ON TOP OF THAT.

Couple of chapters after this inspirational speech by hero of the hero, there is a mass shooting at their international airport. *snort* lowest homicidal rate indeed!

Now I have the second issue. Heroine was understandably upset about the mass shooting and watching someone die. She has anxiety and survivors guilt. She also suffers from mental issues due to death of her fiancé. Her anxiety is so bad that after hearing about the shooting at the large airport she is unable to go to the local airport for normal boarding. Hero had to charter a plane for her. HOWEVER. At no point in time in the present have we heard about proper medical care. The only treatment to anxiety she had was hero’s presence and deep breath with counting down. WHAT THE EVER LOVING FUCK???????!

I HATE EVERYONE!

Not too bad. H/h had a casual sexual relationship only. H is a widower looking for a mother for his two kids. Heroine is a driven publicist running from her demons but when she loses her job she finds herself reeling and drawn back into the hell she ran from three years back. The hero proposes a marriage for a visa to her but is that all there is between them? This one was decent with a h who was running from her past and a H who needed to see that what he needed was right underneath him.

I know that I am the minority (and probably the only one giving this 2.5*) but the last book of the Cupcake Lovers series just didn't work for me on so many levels.

First, while the idea reminded me of the movie I quite enjoyed, The Proposal, I just didn't get why Harper was fired in the first place. Never once from the first book that I felt she was incompetent.

Which brought me to the reason why she was fired. The spa shooting. Which rattled Harper because of her background. That was the second issue. It was over-the-top drama for me. The whole PTSD ex-lover, a revengeful father who hacked Harper's email and made her life hell, and pushed Harper to be slightly agoraphobic. It was just too much for me to enjoy in a romance book.

In addition, I wish the story also spent time of Harper being with Sam's kids. So at least I knew that despite being totally the opposite of Sam's first wife, Harper clicked with the kids. I just didn't get that vibe because there weren't enough interaction between Harper and the kids. I just didn't get why the kids simply thought that Harper was the right person for Sam.

This book just failed to entertain me. And my rating always reflects my like/dislike and reading experience, which result on this being 2.5* read. Since I'm the only one feeling this, I'm going to chalk it up as " Me-Not-The-Book " kind of situation.

In The Mood For Love is the fourth Cupcake Lovers book. I absolutely love this series.

The thing I like the most about this one: our hero bakes! Yes! Nothing better than a man in the kitchen!

Oh and his kids are absolutely precious!

And then there's Harper. Shes a publicist that's doing work for Cupcake Lovers. She's also having a secret fling with Sam.

I liked that both Sam and Harper have their own issues and they are very real characters that you love for their faults and flaws. I also love the town, Sugar Creek, Vermont. This is what we all want small town America to be like. Full of quirky characters and fun places

However there's so much more to this story than just Sam and Harper. There's Vincent and Daisy and Adam and Peppy, all of these characters help bring this story to life and they tie in with each other in different ways.

I really enjoyed the secondary romances, almost as much as Harper and Sam's story. I love how he easily slipped into his role as a husband and protector, especially with her ex's father and the problems she had with him over the past few years.

I have to say, Daisy steals the show whenever she's there. I love the idea of an elderly lady with bright blue hair, dressing up as a moose! Really, I want an old lady like that in my life!

Definitely a fantastic read and a great addition to this series.

The Fabulous Beth Ciotta does it again, and this time, we get a taste of Sexy cousin, Sam McCloud, widower, veteran, and baker? huh? That's right...he bakes ladies and he is a father of two funny children (they cracked me up).

We met Sam and Harper, his heroine and fling, in ANYTHING BUT LOVE, and I was already invested in what was going on between these two. I loved seeing Sam and Harper letting down their guards and even though the situation was CRAZY (you will see), you just knew they were meant to be together (Daisy said it ALL ALONG...when are they all going to understand that Daisy is always right?)

One thing I loved about Sam is that he is a 'Fixer" and with Harper feeling that she was alone in her head, it was so nice to see Sam take a little of her "burden". Sam just might be my favorite Cupcake Hero!

The Cupcake Lovers Series is a must read for fans of Kristan Higgins and Susan Mallery. With Beth Ciotta's humor and heartwarming story lines, you won't be able to put them down!

This should really be 4.5 stars. Beth Ciotta's Cupcake Lovers is one of my favorite series. The fourth book, In the Mood for Love was a wonderful read! I loved being back in Sugar Creek and catching up with all my beloved characters, particularly Daisy (an eccentric grandmother) and the rest of the Monroe clan. Harper and Sam had great chemistry in the third book and their love story in this one was even hotter! Though Ciotta's language was rougher and cheesier than I recall in previous romantic reads, it still made me laugh out loud and sigh, "Awww" at several parts. It was a sweet story and surprisingly unpredictable as far as romances go. Overall it was a great addition to the series, hilarious and happy! I love this series and it's amazing characters. I can't wait for number five!

From the first book I read of this series I feel for Sam. There was just something about him that drew a person to him. You felt sorry for him when he fell for the wrong woman (see loved someone else) but then he met a woman that knocked him off his axle, Harper. She is the perfect woman for him. Different then his first wife, but still caring and loving just like him and his kids need. A must read for the summer!

I feel silly writing 'reviews'. I'm not a reviewer. I'm a reader, with opinions, opinions that aren't always intelligent, educated or easily articulated. So please allow me to opine about this installment of the Cupcake Lovers.

Copyrighted in 2014, I showed up late to this party, but I'm glad I did because it is a fun one!

I still have to read #1 & 2, but I adore everything the author has created in this series.

First off, Daisy is goals. Everyone needs a Daisy in their life and if I end up being a crazy haired great grandmother with a family bucket list and a successful club I enjoy and people who love me doing good things for other people I should be so lucky! I love my husband beyond belief and he is under orders to not die before me, but if he does, I will cling to the hope that somewhere out there is a man who can be the Vincent to my Daisy. Maybe he'll do great Corey Taylor impressions instead of Elvis. (We all have our own tastes, okay?)

Secondly, I enjoyed that the author went where the part of my brain that thinks it could one day be a writer wanted to go when I read "Anything But Love". Harper was actually my favorite character (other than Daisy) and I enjoyed her...interactions...with Sam. The wannabe writer in me wanted to explore her character more, and hooray the reader me got to in this book! The story moves nicely, and did I mention it was fun?

It was a lot of fun.

There's conflict, of course, and that part is not fun...it stings, actually...but I genuinely enjoyed the read.

Sam is a widow with 2 kids. He is sorta quiet and to himself. He has been dating around town trying to find someone to be a mother to his kids. Someone that would be just like Paula his late wife. Harper is a spin meister with celebrities but she is keeping to herself as she has been overcome with survivors guilt of people getting killed while she was at a spa.Her and Sam click big time sexually but that is all...At a meeting for the CL she asks him to come..she is having a bad anxiety attack. He helps her get through it. She has lost her job and is going to have to go back to Canada but Sam says lets get married...His kids even love her so they get to go to Vegas to promote the CL's. While there they get married and Harpers past is finally put behind her thanks to Sam and his friends and family! This is such a wonderful book! I am going to have to find all the others as I won this one and LOVED it!!! Great page turner. Seeing Sam and Harper fall in love was wonderful!

This was my first time reading The Cupcake Lovers series by Beth Ciotta. I loved this book !!!

Sam and Harper deny their attraction to each other at first but then admit their feelings for each other. They get their happily ever after with his two kids and will be adding to their family with a baby of their own.

Review: Five stars for Beth Ciotta’s In the Mood for Love, the new addictive, joyful, sensual, and calorie-free Cupcake Lovers novel

There are certain authors that I treasure like gold. When their books are released, I do a happy dance, because I know that their words will sparkle with a lightness and sincerity, even when they deal with difficult topics. One author who embodies this is Beth Ciotta. The inhabitants of Sugar Creek, Vermont, where her Cupcake Lovers novels are based, have become some of my BBFFs (for those in the know, that’s best book friends forever). So it was with great pleasure that I found myself purchasing the fourth book in that series, In the Mood for Love when it was released last week.

Today, I cracked the first page of In the Mood for Love: A Cupcake Lovers Novel by Beth Ciotta in my Kindle and didn’t stop reading till the entire story was told. No breaks, no discussion. All tech in the house was disabled (well, there was an electrical storm going on as well). I just curled up and read for a little over three hours, becoming totally enamored of the story of the protagonists, Harper and Sam. (You may recall their unexpected and steamy hookups from the previous book, Anything But Love).

At the opening of In the Mood for Love, it’s apparent that widower Sam is still trying to find the woman who’ll be the second Mrs. Right for him, but it seems that all candidates should echo the calm personality of his late wife. However he’s not having much luck. It couldn’t be because he misses Harper, right? Where is she anyway? It seems like this B- and C-list Hollywood publicist pulled up stakes in Sugar Creek and headed back to LA. But we discover she’s actually back, however laying low, very low - under the radar low - in her semi-haunted, restored farmhouse.

When she and Sam reencounter one another, actually when he rushes to her aid after receiving a desperate text, it quickly becomes apparent that it wasn’t just the thought of his deceased wife that kept him from moving on. He and Harper together generate enough electricity to power not only the farmhouse, but Sugar Creek. But is it only the physical side of things or could actual emotions be involved?

In my opinion, every woman should meet a man like Sam McCloud. Former military, furniture designer, craftsman, devoted husband, now single father of two - just someone who radiates kindness as well as hot sexuality. Yes, this is one man that no woman would want to say goodbye to. Why would you when Harper describes him favorably to Dylan McDermott, who she sees interviewed on a morning talk show. Yep, Sam is that hot!

I fell more than a little in love with both of Harper and Sam when Sam shows Harper his children’s rooms, including in the passage below Harper's experience of seeing the painting he's created for his daughter. Is it possible that under the brittle celebrity focused publicist exterior that Harper may be disguising the heart of a romantic? Does Sam see this or just the hot babe who started his engine again? Well, Ciotta explains it much better in this passage, one of my favorites:

Just now, surrounded by castles and tiaras, Harper wanted something in between, something romantic. Instead of Rambo, she wanted a knight in shining armor. Her vision clouded and she swore she saw Sam in full body armor. Richard Gere as Sir Lancelot. No. Clive Owen as King Arthur. Wait. Worse. Sam McCloud as Harper Day’s champion. (p. 135)

Wow, Dylan McDermott, Richard Gere, and Clive Owen! Anyone else want to hop in the car to travel to Sugar Creek and hang out in Moose-a-lotta, the happening coffee shop run by Chloe and Daisy?

Seriously, Ciotta has a true gift of how to convey who her characters are until they practically take physical form in front of you. The gentle evolution of perpetually-in-motion, uber-connected, non-relationship driven Harper and gentle, quiet, patient, and strong Sam is just beautiful to read. Once you add in all the subplots (Adam & Peppy, Daisy & Vince) as well as childbirth, a cyber-stalker, and just loads of humor - well you have a book that I dare anyone to put down.

While I would highly recommend reading ALL the Cupcake Lovers novels in sequence, In the Mood for Love could definitely be read as a stand-alone story. Yes, you might have questions about who these people are, but this story is fairly self-contained. But I’ll guarantee you that once that final page is turned, you’ll be looking for the rest of the series to devour. Yes, Beth Ciotta’s The Cupcake Lovers are as addictive as their namesake baked goods. Readers truly connect with Ciotta and you’ll find some cupcake recipes that they’ve submitted at the conclusion of each novel. Speaking of which, I think I’ll be trying out Mary Stella’s Key Lime Cupcakes with Coconut Buttercream Frosting. Don’t those sound delicious?

So I urge you, if you want to read a book that is heartwarming and sensual, hilarious and moving, and really well written, pick up In the Mood for Love today. I’m awarding it five stars (or five cupcakes) and hoping that there will be more tales emanating from Sugar Creek soon.

In The Mood For Love (Cupcake Lovers #4) by Beth Ciotta takes us back to small town Sugar Creek, Vermont. Sam is a widower with two children who is finally feeling reading to move on after his wife's death. He's had a few dates, but none of them have felt right. None of them can measure up to Harper, the woman he's had a very secret sexual affair with. The same woman he's intensely attracted to and wants to know better. Harper is a celebrity publicist who became involved with the Cupcake Lovers to help promote them and the charities they support. She's never been looking for long term or attachments. She keeps busy and doesn't really connect with anyone. With a mysterious past and an uncertain future, Harper is not only scared to let people in, she just doesn't know how. Sam is a hot former Marine, but he's also a father and she's never thought of anything beyond their affair.

Unexpected circumstances bring them together again and Sam is determined to win her over. What he proposes to solve one of her problems could bring them closer than Harper ever anticipated, if she can trust her heart and Sam.

In The Mood For Love is a great addition to the Cupcake Lover's series, and I fell in love with Sam as much as Harper struggled not to. He is patient, caring, and understanding...a hero who will steal your heart. Harper has her struggles. She's used to dealing with everything alone, and I really enjoyed seeing Sam slowly break through her walls. Harper especially really grew through In The Mood For Love, and it was so great to see this and experience it with her through Beth's fantastic writing. As different as Sam and Harper are, in this case opposites really do attract. I could feel them getting closer, and really hoped for them. Sam and Harper are both people who have issues that are real, and this realism draws you in to their characters.

I love the small town feel and closeness that Beth manages to portray in In The Mood For Love, the ups and downs of small town living where everyone thinks they know everyone else's business. The secondary characters bring so much into the story, especially Daisy...I love that woman! She is full of spice and the humor she sparks even as a secondary character nicely balances out the seriousness in In The Mood For Love. I also really enjoyed a couple of the secondary romances Beth weaves into In The Mood For Love, they made the people all the more real.

In The Mood For Love is an entertaining, smoothly written story with characters I came to love. Beth shows us that sometimes the opposites who attract actually bring out the best in each other...and it's always nice to have someone to lean on.

I have read all of the Cupcake Lover's books, and even though I think you could read this one on it's own, you'll enjoy your visit to Sugar Creek, Vermont all the more if you read them all. I recommend this to all romance readers who enjoy humor along with the serious side of life, characters you can relate to, and a great love story!

The Cupcake Lovers are back, and this time sweet Sam isn’t leaving until he gets his happy ending.

Okay, I’ve been waiting for this book for a year (read: eternity). It’s the final installment of Beth Ciotta’s Cupcake Lovers, and lots of people are ready for their happy ending (not just Sam and Harper). The book begins with an update on Luke and Rae. Of course they reconciled and are now expecting a baby. After that’s out of the way, we find out Sam has returned to the dating scene and Harper has returned to LA. Sam’s sick of being lonely, sick of being a single parent, and sick of the dates he’s been on. Sam’s realizing he’s looking for a clone of Paula (his dead wife), but anyone who fits the bill is boring. All Sam can really think about his hot sex with Harper, who is the complete opposite of Paula. Still, when Harper returns to town, Sam keeps his distance until he gets a mysterious text sending him speeding to Harper’s home. It turns out Harper’s battling a lot of problems including panic attacks, imminent deportation, and a possible stalker. Sam has an answer for all three, and that plan begins with a marriage of convenience to get a green card and ends with true love.

I adored this book. It really was like eating a cupcake. I knew there was going to be a sweet fluffy ending. Knowing everything was going to work out was the icing on the cake. Seriously, it’s the best brain candy I’ve read all summer (maybe because of the built up anticipation, but maybe because it’s just that charming). Harper and Sam burn up the pages with their chemistry. Their hot and surprisingly chaste courtship only deepened their connection. I couldn’t help but root for the two of them. I love them. I want them to be happy. I want them to be real and be my friends in real life. I also want them to make me cupcakes. The story is sort of uneventful. There is a conflict, but it’s handled in a mature adult way. Neither character goes out of the way to hide something from the other. Both are careful of the other’s feelings. It’s truly just a love story. That may seem boring, but to me it was a breath of fresh air. Most romance stories I read are filled with grown people making the decisions of a precocious four-year-olds. What made me love this book even more are the Easter Eggs Ciotta hides within the main story line. Adam’s happy ending is cute. I’ve been worried about him since Jayce came back into Rocky’s life. Daisy’s continuing love story and search for herself is endearing. Seriously, though, who wouldn’t love a blue sparkly haired old lady? Bottom line, read this book. It’s a totally satisfying end to the Cupcake Lovers series. If you haven’t read the first three and a half (reviews up later this week), start with those, so you can get the most out of this one. Also, I’m totally going to bake some the gingerbread cupcakes from the recipe in the back of the book. Happy reading (and baking if you so choose).

I received a complimentary copy of this book as a part of a book tour from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for a fair and honest review.

I admit it; I’m a foodie and to me there’s nothing better than mixing two of my favorite things; food and romance, so when I was given the opportunity to read and review Beth Ciotta’s newest entry in her Cupcake Lover’s series, In the Mood for Love, I jumped at the chance. Featuring a couple that put the emphasis in “opposites attract”, Ms. Ciotta takes us on a romantic adventure set in the colorful small town of Sugar Creek, Vermont and encourages to remember the best things about falling in love. While this is the fourth book in the series, it can be read and enjoyed on its own.

A widower with two young kids, Sam McCloud hasn’t quite gotten over the heartbreak of losing his wife to cancer. Even though he’s gone on plenty of dates, set up by friends and family who think he needs to get out more, no woman has really captured his interest. Ms. Ciotta does a good job developing Sam’s character; he’s thoughtful, afraid of getting hurt and focused on taking care of his kids. While a little female diversion can be fun; Sam is more interested in baking and avoiding potentially embarrassing conversations with his children than in maneuvering the female landscape of Sugar Creek, his home town.

Claiming she’s only taking a much needed “vacation”, celebrity publicist Harper Day finds herself in Sugar Creek with more on her hands than she’s willing to handle. Avoiding her past and worried about her future, Harper isn’t opposed to a temporary “fling” and Sam McCloud is a very tempting distraction. Ms. Ciotta does a good job developing Harper’s character too; a successful businesswoman who’s avoided dealing with the realities of her life, she’ll find herself having to ask for help and admitting she can’t do it all on her own.

The secondary characters are well developed and many are characters who’ve been previously introduced in the series. I especially enjoyed getting to know Sam’s kids, who were quite colorful and humorous. I enjoyed the fact that they were real secondary characters and not just a device in the story; they gave Sam’s character more depth. While Sam and Harper come from different backgrounds, and are polar opposites, their verbal and physical chemistry is obvious to everyone else and watching their relationship grow is quite fun.

Will Sam and Harper realize the mutual attraction they have is more than just physical? Will Sam take a second chance on love? You’ll have to read In the Mood for Love to find out. I enjoyed it and look forward to seeing whose story Ms. Ciotta gives us next.

In the Mood for Love by Beth Ciotta is the 4th book in her Cupcake Lovers series. Since I have not read the first three books, I can safely say that this book can be read as a standalone. But I will add that after reading this wonderful romance, I will be going back to read the other books in this series.

This series takes place in a small town, Sugar Creek, Vermont. Of late, I have really been enjoying these romances that take place in small towns. We meet our hero, Sam McCloud early on, fraternizing with his friends, some of whom have found their loves from the earlier books; which does not matter when reading this. Sam is a widower, and his friends keep pushing him to start seriously dating again. However, what the town doesn’t know, is that Sam is sexually aroused by Harper Day, our heroine. The two of them are not interested in any commitment, but they can’t seem to control their lust for each other.

Harper is a well-known publicist in L.A., but she also helps promote the Cupcake Lovers. She visits Sugar Creek often, when she is able, as the town and the friends she has made have become her salvation. Harper is beautiful, strong and personable on the outside, but underneath it all, she has some major issues. She has a stalker from Canada that she hides from, and she also suffers from anxiety attacks, which no one sees, until one day Sam does. Harper suddenly loses her job, and is at risk of having to leave the U.S. and be forced back home to Canada. Sam comes to the rescue, and what follows is a beautiful romance.

This was a nicely done slow build up to their romance, with Sam being the first to realize that he was falling in love with Harper, and he begins to second guess his determination to meet a woman who knows how to handle children. I loved how Sam slowly built up Harper’s confidence, and knew when she was starting her anxiety attack. He knew just what to do to get her mind away from her fears. Sam was so perfect for Harper. Once she allows herself to open up and tell Sam all, Harper becomes more confident. With each passing day, she begins to see that she loves him too.

In the midst of this wonderful romance, we spend time with the fabulous characters of Sugar Creek, including Sam’s kids. There is also the mystery about the stalker. I loved the premise of the Cupcake Lovers club, and at the end of the book there are a few cupcake recipes. Beth Ciotta has created a delightful story that also tugs on your emotions, as you see what Harper is going through, as well as the joy of watching this romance build. You truly do need to read this book, and if you can start with the first book, though this will read fine as a standalone.

When I saw the cover and read the synopsis for In the Mood for Love by Beth Ciotta, I could not help but say yes to this tour. I love small-town romance and cupcakes! While this is the fourth in the Cupcake Lovers series, I was able to slip into this small-town story, and they quickly made me feel at home. Of course, after reading this I immediately picked up book one! In the Mood for Love offers a sweet romance, suspense, humor and a whole lotta heart.

When you first begin reading, you might, as I did feel overwhelmed by all the characters. I thought, “Oh no! I should have started at the beginning of this series.” Hang in there for the first chapter as, Ciotta quickly gets you acclimated. Then the focus of the tale switched to Harper and Sam. We also get side stories featuring a moody guitar player and hot gym instructor as well as a crazy meddling lady who changes her hair color for every occasion and her sweet boyfriend.

Sam is a widower and father of two. This sexy carpenter and ex-solider is the full package, and I could not help but adore him. The man bakes cupcakes!! Townsfolk know he is looking for a wife and mother for his two children and with the exception of some wild hook-ups with Harper Day the man has been celibate since the death of his wife. Harper Day bought a small farm in Sugar Creek that she uses for a retreat from her high-stress job. She is a celebrity publicist in L.A., but she also makes time to help promote the Cupcake Lovers group. Harper’s haunted by events from her past and the more I learned about her, the more I connected.

In the Mood for Love has one of my favorite tropes, and since the synopsis doesn’t mention it you will have to read it for yourself. I loved the banter, dance and interaction between Sam and Harper. The attraction was smoking hot. Most of the heat comes from the buildup and aside from one scene almost all of the sexual encounters are fade to black. Ciotta tackles some serious issues including PTSS and harassment. There are tender moments; tense moments and their storyline gave me the “feels.” I laughed, signed and even shed a tear. The side stories were wonderful. My favorite involved Adam and Peppy a musician. These two made me giggle:snort and I wanted more time with them. Then there was Daisy. This woman is a hoot from her blue hair to her matchmaking schemes.

If you are a fan of contemporary romance, you have to give Beth Ciotta's Cupcake Lovers novels a try. They are a great blend of family, friends, humor and romance all rolled up into one in this wonderful series. This is book #4 and called In The Mood For Love.
I have waited for Sam's story. The only male member of the Cupcake Lovers club, he is an ex-soldier, a widower, and a great dad and cupcake baker. He is also lonely, and watched as a woman he had a romantic interest in, fell in love with his cousin in the previous book, Anything But Love. So what does he do? He has a secret short hot and sexy affair with the Cupcake Lovers publicist, Harper whose job is located in L. A.

Harper is a workaholic publicist who gives her clients 200%. Unfortunately, she had a terrible experience in her native Canada and she asked to be transferred to her firms L A office. 3 years later she is let go by the firm. She can not go home so she needs a green card to stay in the U.S. Enter Sam to the rescue, with an offer of a marriage of convenience.

Harper is an independent city girl and Sam is a small town dad. They agree to a friendly marriage, but they can't seem to be able to keep their hands off each other. Sam sees qualities in Harper that even she herself can't see. His kids come to adore her, his family notices their sparks, and their friendship starts to grow into something more. It comes to Sam's attention that Harper may have a stalker problem, and while he checks into what is going on to protect her, he hopes that Harper will be able to trust in him and realize that they could have something special together.

I found myself laughing at so many things in the story and you get to see what Sam's friends and family are up too, especially Daisy. One of my favorites parts in the book is a touching scene with Sam and his father-in-law that speaks well on Sam's character as a man. And it also reflects well the writing style of Ms Ciotta that she doesn't diminish Sam's previous love with his late wife Paula like some other authors seems to do. He had a happy marriage with Paula and she will always have a place in his heart even though he is now moving on with Harper. This story really had some special and tender moments.

I highly recommend this book. It is full of fun, family, and romance. I can't wait to read Beth's future books and I hope you enjoy In The Mood For Love , too!

I came into this series with the last book and found the story heartwarming and enjoyable as it managed to bring the feel of a lovely and caring small town to the people who needed it most. Plus, I love Vermont, and have relatives who live in a little town not unlike Sugar Creek - where generations of families live and gather, and everyone knows who you are and what you’ve been through.

In this story we pick up with Harper who has become a new member of Cupcake Lovers, mostly contributing her PR skills. Relocated from Los Angeles, Harper is struggling with her own history and inability to sit still. Her constant connection to twitter, facebook and her telephone keep her removed from everyone: she’s not a warm and fuzzy person. Falling in love with a house that has become a local legend, she purchased the house and has retreated to the little town for some R & R. But she doesn’t know how to relax, and her anxiety is at full swing, she can’t leave the house even for the simplest of reasons.

Sam is the only official male member of Cupcake Lovers, and as a former Marine, the club’s mission is all that more eye catching to have a serviceman involved. Sam is still grieving the death of his wife and mother of his two children, and the hectic publicity schedule for the CL’s new book doesn’t have him feeling particularly comfortable. Sam is all about making his kids happy, and finding someone just like their mum to build a life with: a relationship where he finds love is secondary.

Again Ciotta uses the characters and their relationships to build a series of circles in which everyone slowly but surely comes to find the person that is their fit: even if they aren’t inclined to see it themselves. Sam and Harper are that perfect combination of opposites attract, with both having skills and qualities that enhance the other’s strengths and provide support in their moments of weakness. Bringing in the kids, the unique interference of Daisy and checking in with the other couples and residents in Sugar Creek with a fun side trip to Las Vegas to liven up the climax.

If you want a fun, heartwarming and sweet story with a touch of steam - pick this up. You won’t regret it.

I received an eArc copy of the title from the publisher via NetGalley for purpose of honest review with Tasty Book Tours. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

In the Mood for Love is a delicious ending to the Cupcake Lovers series! This novel will absorb you from the very first pages!

The previous books offered glimpses into Sam and Harper, but this book really blew me away with how amazing these two characters are!

Harper is a beautiful, confident, multi-tasking celebrity crisis fixer who seems too big for the little town of Sugar Creek Vermont. She's chatty, always on her phone, and has a talent for pushing Sam's buttons. After returning to her main home in LA, a dangerous situation throws the steadfast Harper off balance. She retreats to Vermont to find peace and solitude in her restored old fashioned home. It's here we get the first glimpse into the Harper behind the spotlight, her insecurities, her weaknesses, and ultimately her greatest strengths! Beth Ciotta has expertly taken a character who could easily appear self-centered on the outside and has turned her into one of the most compelling and fascinating characters in this series! I wish I could read more books with her in them. The mystery with Harper's house and the past resident is also intriguing and adds a little extra spice for the novel.

And then of course, there's Sam! The strong, caring single Dad is even more irresistible in this novel as we get a glimpse into his protective nature, his wildly romantic side, and his ability to surprise. His dating mishaps are laugh out loud funny, and his strength and devotion will make your heart melt! The chemistry between Sam and Harper is instant and intense. Their romance is wild and exciting and memorable. I think this might be the best Cupcake Lovers novel yet!

And it wouldn't be a cupcake lovers novel without the fun loving, mischief causing Daisy! Be prepared for lots of laughter and smiles while reading this one.

The dialogue and writing are brilliantly done. The plot is exceptional! All the favorite characters from the past novels come together into this fun filled story. I couldn't imagine a better ending for this series. I wish I could give this book more than 5 stars!

Posted on What I'm Reading

I finished In the Mood for Love by Beth Ciotta. This is my first Cupcake Lovers book. I must say that it was pretty cute and at times my eyes decided to leak. Anyway, let me proceed on. It might have helped if I had read the previous books, but I think I did all right following the storyline. Yes, there are a lot of characters and they are tied to previous books. However, the story focuses on Sam McLeod and Harper Day.

Now Sam hasn't had much luck in the love department since his wife passed away. If I read the previous books, I would probably know when that happen, but we're moving on from this point. Now the town seem to put Sam on the number one priority to find him another. After all he's a great catch and great father to his two children. It seems like there is a pool going on about his dating life, which that kind of putters out in the story. Anyway, Sam has this great connection with Harper, but Harper wants to shield herself off from emotions of any kind. This makes her amazing in her job as a publicist. So, it makes you wonder what could have happen to make her want to shield herself off. As the story progress, you get bits and pieces on why she would do something like that. It's not until she tells the Sam the complete story.

Anyway, In the Mood for Love starts off as a story about a marriage of convenience, because Sam and Harper need something from a marriage. Harper needs to be able to stay in the states, but can't unless she finds a way to stay. While Sam wants to find someone to help him raise his children. Some might view Harper a bit harsh, but as I said she has her reasons. I did really like Sam, because he's just so understanding and willing to help Harper. He's such a keeper. Overall, I found In the Mood for Love a cute story about two people trying to make the best of their situation. So, if you are looking for a cute read, you might want to give In the Mood for Love a chance.

Another one of Ciotta's fantasy romance novels hits the shelves.

When I began reading 'In the Mood for Love', it almost read a bit like the movie The Proposal. Harper, a celebrity publicist, loses her job due to personal issues and is threatened with being deported back to Canada (that's The Proposal part). Having had hot and heavy sexual encounters with Sam, a cousin of the Monroes, the two develop a plain to get hitched for her green card so she doesn't get shipped back to Canada (The Proposal part again). Similar to the movie, the two end up falling madly in love and staying together - although their relationship comes off a tad rushed because they elope in Vegas shortly after she loses her job, move in together and she begins playing mom to Sam's kids Ben and Mina.

I love Ciotta's fluffy romance novels that generally produce some obstacle that becomes conquered, or turns out to be something else that is life reveling. While reading this book, I almost wished from something more scandalous to pop up. I am curious to discover if Ciotta wants to integrate divorce, affairs or deeper, darker secrets about the characters in order to add a bit more zing! to the series (and less babies).

Also, I do wonder how long Ciotta wants the Cupcake Lover Series to go and how detached from the original Monroe family the romance will become. In this book, Ciotta already sets up the romance between Adam Brody (Luke Monroe's friend) and Peppy Redding (Daisy's husband Vincent's great-granddaughter) as well as hinting at something between Joelle "Joey" a new character to the series, and Nash (another Monroe cousin). As long as Ciotta can keep the storyline interesting I will remain an avid reader, and fan, I just don't want her series to become the 'Saw' of romance novels. Interesting at first then dragged out to the point of pointlessness.

Sam is not having any luck finding a woman to take a place in his and his two children's hearts. he has plenty of offers but none of them seem right. Only one woman comes to his mind and that is Harper. They had a brief fling and she may be different from what he thinks is ideal woman is but she is who he keeps thinking about. Harper is hiding out on the farm she bought. She has had a few things make her leery of leaving her house. She has a stalker and is afraid to let anyone know. When she gets some bad news she knows she needs Sam. They come up with a plan to get married and while it starts out as a way to help Harper, Sam knows he wants her to stay for good.

Harper has to keep busy and loves to help people. It has been her job for years to help others out of a bad situation. She has some problems with crowds and has a panic attacks now. She doesn't want her problems to stop her from helping the Cupcake Lovers. She isn't sure how she will be as a mother but does great at thinking of their needs. Sam may be moody at times but he will do anything for his family. He also will do anything for Harper. I love how he teases her quite a bit. They both are wonderful people and even being different they are wonderful together.

I love this series and seeing more of the characters I have already grew to love. Sam and Harper deserve a happy ending. I love not just their story but the others as well. Daisy melted my heart in how young she shows she is at heart. There is an element of danger in this one and Sam shows he will do anything to protect Harper. This whole family is something special. You can read this one as a stand alone but I would read all of them as they are all great. If you enjoy a fabulous family and characters you just want to see more of be sure to read this one.

I got a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange of an honest review.

I enjoyed Beth Ciotta's previous writing with her steampunk series and was a little surprised when I realized that I have yet to read her contemporary romance. So when In the Mood for Love popped up on my to read list, I did not hesitate to tackle it and came out pleasantly surprised.

Beth tells a wonderful story about two very broken people. One is Harper Day, who is a celebrity publicist and a major workaholic. The other is a widowed father of two children Sam McCloud, a proud member of the cupcakes club. Sam is having emotional connection issues with other women ever since his wife has passed, but Harper day seems to be the only one that he would bother to look twice at. Too bad that Harper doesn't want a major relationship, just a little bit of fun, until she get's fired and is about to be deported to Canada where her not so happy past awaits her. Sam proposes marriage, and Harper has no way of declining.

Great story. It was nice, I enjoyed it. I liked following Sam and Harper as they both slowly healed each others hearts as well as meeting the rest of the Cupcake lovers. Thought I have not read the previous books, I found this one okay without it. Sure I wanted to know more about the characters in it, but that did not stop me from enjoying the story. I liked how Ciotta also threw in chapters with other characters in it, branching out into setting up the possible story for the next book.

It was a sweet read and I liked Ciotta's charming characters and storytelling. To me Cupcake Lovers was more of a comfort read and made me kind of wish my husband knew how to bake some cupcakes heh.

This story revolves around two people mainly. A Sam McCloud and a Harper Day. Sam is a carpenter, but really more like an artist that uses wood. He is widowed and his two children a 5 year old daughter and a 9 year old son. He is also was deployed several times with his Marine unit, he grew up in this fictional town and all of his cousins and friends are trying to set him up with any single female. Harper is a PR person and is doing work in town for a local cupcake cook club who has published a cookbook and they make up packages to send to the troops that are deployed. Sam was hired by Harper to remodel an old farm house she bought in the area wanting to use it as a vacation house. There is a spark between the two of them but she does leave the home and Sam has not told anyone either. As her situation changes Sam wants to step thing up to marriage and things are happen to make it happen for them. But she needs to deal with her past and she needs to tell Sam and Sam needs to make her feel that she can be a mother to his two children who already like her. This is a wonderful story of two people helping each other face their fears together and to stand together to make their relationship stronger. There is a lot that goes on in this book but I don’t want to give away too much. But I liked all of the characters and the way she slowly added each storyline and then brought them all together. A wonderful book, story. I got this book from net galley.

Widower Sam McCloud has lately been feeling alone even in the house he shares with his two kids. He has had great love and felt the loss of losing it but dang he needs some help with his own needs and to help be a mother to his children. Harper Day is the best Public Relations agent in the business or was until a past trauma decided to burn his life down to the ashes and force her into hiding.

What Sam proposes to Harper does not seem like a normal idea to the rest of the world but these two are trying to break the always following a certain path mold. If Sam and Harper were to marry they could be lovers, partners, and friends who are not the perfect fit but at the core a solid match. There are always those in Destiny with an opinion about what icing goes with that type of cupcake, yet there are times you have to add some spice to the recipe and see how it tastes. So just this once Harper is going for broke and decides to grab a hold of life with Sam and see if the great, big mix of family he brings with him will fill her heart as much tomorrow and it does today.

So the question is if Sam and Harper know how good life can ben with a strong partner beside you, is it possible they could fit the bill for one another?
