Gabi Harkins likes to think she’s a pretty normal sixteen-year-old. She goes to school, suffers though an awful part-time job, and deals with a bratty younger sister. But when a potential shoplifter morphs into a monster right in front of her, Gabi realizes her life is far from normal—especially when that monster follows her home and ends up battling a boy wielding a sword

Writing The Sight Seer was an amazing, incredible journey, and I'm so excited to finally share it with the world. Thanks for checking it out, and I hope you enjoy it!

Where do I even begin with this? I am trying SO HARD not to write a biased review guys... so just believe me. I actually HATE reading books that my friends wrote because I'm always worried 'what if I hate it'. Then I worry 'what if I love it and nobody believes me because I'm friends with the author?!' Well... let me tell you, THERE IS NO BIAS HERE. I loved this book and I will not lie. Sure there were moments of predictability, but that comes with the territory of MOST fiction. While I love boo

I'm not going to lie, my review is going to be entirely bias because I am friends with the author. Even knowing this, I'm amazingly proud to be Melissa Giorgio friend, because her debut novel is a stunning, rich and honest story.
This book drew me in from the moment it started: Gabi's world is full of sass and sarcasm, and when it's fliped-turned-upside down, she still still finds ways to spin humor into even the worst situations. What I particularly loved was her narrative voice -- she felt so h ...more

very much enjoyed the first book of The Sight Seer series! Gabi and Rafe make a great pair! Here's the blurb:

I received an ecopy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
MY THOUGHTS
This book has an idea that is very common in YA books (a teenage girl being able to see through glamour), but it was executed so well, and I loved it!
The book focuses on Gabi, who runs into a hideous shoplifting monster at work. Later, the same monster followed her home and she sees a boy fighting said monster. Turns out that the boy, Rafe, is a demon hunter a ...more

I want this review to be completely honest and unbiased, since I know the author. So here goes.
I don't read a ton of YA; it just isn't my first choice of genre to read. But I do read it occasionally. That being said, I'll go into the review.
I actually had a hard time with Gabi at first. She just seemed a tad over dramatic and immature (yes, I know she's 16). But as the story progressed, I started liking her more. I would be totally happy without the high school drama crap (one reason I don't a ...more

The Sight Seer is an awesome debut from writer Melissa Giorgio. Gabi, a high school student whose highlight in life is working at the Convenience Corral, has a simple goal of getting through her four hour shift of boredom. Until a confrontation with a shoplifter—a demon—who stalks her home. Luckily, demon hunter Rafe Fitzgerald was in the neighborhood to save Gabi’s patooty. When Rafe realizes Gabi can See demons, a talent he doesn’t possess, he convinces her to team up with him, which leads to

I don't have a whole lot to say about this book except to praise it's protagonist, Gabi. She is such a real person - easily one of the most realistic teenage girls I've read in a long time. She has quite the distinct voice, and is filled to the brim with sarcasm.
Thank goodness no love triangle. It's kind of refreshing for the main character to just date one person! No angst! Honestly, that's my favorite part of the book. ...more

I don't really like Supernatural YA but this book was really fun to read. I finished it way too fast for my liking too! I loved Gabi, she was funny and let herself be too affected by cute Rafe.

I LOVE GABI. She is so sassy and great. XD What a refreshing difference from most YA protagonists! Love love love love! :D

I'll be very open and honest about the fact that I'm friends with the author (wow, I don't get many chances to say that!), but I'll try to keep my review as unbiased as I can, regardless of that fact.
Ok, so I'll admit, I don't read nearly as much YA Fiction as some of my friends do. Not that I don't like it or anything (I like plenty of stuff that's considered YA), I just usually don't go out of my way to read titles in that genre most of the time. Oh goodness, where to start, where to start...
I loved Gabi and Rafe's relationship. They were so very real. And Gabi!! She wasn't perfect, but she also wasn't so imperfect that she was dislikable. I really enjoyed her interactions with Rafe and her thoughts about Evan. Her relationship with her dad was also very real and reminded me so much of my own relationship with my dad when I was a teen.

I've never read a YA paranormal with as much humor and as much heart as The Sight Seer. Can I tell you how much I love Gabi? She's smart, she's got a wicked sense of humor and she, unlike a lot of YA protagonists, knows there's more to life than romance--especially when she discovers there are demons in disguise all around her.
That said, there is a sweet romance in this book, and the guy that Gabi falls for actually deserves her affections. He's an actual person with complex characterization an ...more

4.5 stars -- OMG so good!!! And gah, now I have to wait a month and a half for the next one?? NOT FAIR. Thank goodness there is a novella to tie me over.
I was actually slow to get into this one, but I can't pinpoint why so I'm thinking it might have been just my mood, not actually the book. Once I got going it was just a riot. So much fun action, adorable characters (LOVED Rafe -- but is it pronounced Raf-ie? Or rhymes with chafe?), an intriguing paranormal world, and some great inter-character ...more

Review: The Sight Seer - Melissa Giorgio
I received this wonderful book to read in return for an honest review.
I loved this book. Gabi is so funny and I can relate to her in the way she is with boys, friends, and dealing with her sister. Although I loved Rafe's character, his and Gabi's relationship progressed very quickly and I was unsure if his feelings for her were real or not (view spoiler) ...more

I read a lot of paranormal YA books and this one is definitely one of the better ones. The concept is original, the characters are well written, and the drama and story work well to keep you turning the pages.
As with many books that have #1 in the title you have an idea that you are going to get to the end and not have all the answers and this is certainly the case here but it is done in such a way that you don't have that ...more

Warning. This book is cheesy. So very, very, veryyyy cheesy. Gosh, it is so full of YA clichés and made me roll my eyes several times buuuuut…. I actually liked it. I don’t know why; I can’t explain it. I liked it. It’s kinda like Vampire Diaries (the tv show, not the books. I’ve never read the books); the beginning makes you wanna gag with all the corniness, but before you know it, you’re super into it. Plus it was well written, in a snazzy kinda way, and the chapters just flowed into one anoth

Holy shit! I love the whole book. Going on the next one now the 1.5 book and than book 2.

A promising new series

“Looking up, our eyes met, and then I was standing on my tiptoes so I could kiss him. His hands snaked around my waist, crushing me to him as we started doing some hardcore making out.
In my dad’s closet.
Part of my brain was telling me this probably wasn’t a good idea, while the other, bigger part, was telling it to shut the hell up and enjoy the feel of Rafe’s lips pressed against mine. And I was, I’d have to be dead not to, but—
“Wait,” I said, pulling away. Rafe merely moved on to my neck, doing this nuzzling thing that felt amazing. “Wait, Rafe, put on the shirt.”
“What?” He started laughing. “God, I must be the worst kisser in existence. First you pass out on me, now you’re telling me to put my clothes back on.”
