I am done reading "Taken Already" written by a 2nd time writer- Yaagneshwaran G. Yaagneshwaran is a product marketing Specialist at a reputed IT organization based out of Chennai, India. he is also an avid business blogger and conducts seminars for B-school students especially in the area of marketing. He is known for his earlier novel "The Group of Fools". Apart from books, the author has a keen interest in entrepreneurship and spirituality. This 130-pages novel has been published by Notionpress which is a self-publishing firm. I am sad to see that this book isn't available on all the e-commerce portals. An author should at least be given this privilege because most of the books are being sold on Internet these days.
Let's come to the synopsis of the book- When Arjun, who had fallen head over heels for his colleague Anita, realizes that she is engaged to his close friend, who knew her by a different name at a different place, all hell broke loose.
As Sam Chacko investigates, he ends up uncovering a baffling mystery. He tries hard not to panic and soon understands that when hormones take over the intellect, it can ruin your life.
Coming to the author, its his 2nd book while his first was also being released by a self-publishing firm. Author believes in writing a novel of less than 150 pages as he knows that there is no need of dragging a story which already has its plot very short and direct. I liked this approach. The first half isn't that good as its an average attempt to tell how a boy falls in love with a girl amidst friendship being a part of life simultaneously. But the second half is truly surprising and a total page turner because of the suspense that the author adds to make the book spicy and sensible. At least, its a good version than many such type of books which starts with a love story, shows some break up points and ends up either giving the couple a happy or sad ending.
I loved the sentences in italics that author has used many a times in the first half of the book. Some of them made me smile for a long time while some talked expressions of the protagonist which was again helpful in making this book a level up than usual fiction love stories by Indian authors. The character of Sam Chacko is the most interesting while the climax is been ended with a hope that there can be a sequel to this book. It's nice.
Talking about the drawbacks of the book, I would say that the language isn't that crisp as it should be. Even the plot of the story was quite different, author failed at many a times in bringing the kind of expressions that could have come up if written in a better way. The narration is also very simple. When a book has a story, one should not keep the language this easy, it should have some complexity because it adds to the quality of the story. I just want to suggest author to go through some of the books in the genre that he writes and improve his narrating style. Else, I would give the book- 2.75/5.
another psychological thriller which i brought with great enthusiasm ...but ... the blurb arjun an independent young man working away from home falls for his college anitha, but soon he finds that his best friend is getting married to the love of his life who happens to be anitha living in an entirely different identity the story then takes an unexpected turn by the entry of a private ditective sam chacko who then finds out some interesting and 'Revelating' facts about the whole situation the book was good and in a way it satisfied me but there were many regions which lost its clarity to portray the situations through which the main character was going through . the story is 'fast paced' but it could have been made interesting by describing more details ....but again the story line was really intruiging
Taken Already By Yaagneshwaran Ganesh Review By Ila Garg
The 130 page novel, Taken Already, has been published by Notionpress which is a self-publishing firm. The author Yaagneshwaran Ganesh is known for his earlier novel “The Group of Fools”. Taken Already is his second novel. I loved the cover of this novel. It attracted me in the first look as I tore off the courier package. I was eager to read it at that very instant because of the cover which has a mysterious touch to it. It almost shouts out, ‘Enter into the world of thrill’. But as I began reading I was disappointed at first. Initially the novel that seemed to be so extraordinary from its cover had nothing new to offer in the inside. First few pages are a bit dragging about the working of an IT company. The author has explained everything in details being a Product Marketing Specialist at a reputed It organization based in Chennai, India. So this description might only be interesting for IT people, but for me it was the opposite. First half of the novel is average according to me as it narrates how a boy falls head over heel in love with a girl. His close-knit group of friends that helps him in the venture of pleasing that girl. There’s nothing different about the initial plot. I could almost interpret the end of the story. But I must say the author is highly intellectual and has written an intelligent piece of writing. The second half took me by surprise. The author has marvellously woven a brilliant climax into the story that keeps the readers glued till the very end. The characters are well chosen. Overall it’s a very challenging plot. Sam Chacko, the detective was brought at a crucial time into the story but I felt his role was sublimed. The author could have portrayed him in a better light and made him look more powerful and quick. The other characters are more or less well defined. The too many complexities of Arjun’s life is just one of the reasons you want to keep turning the pages to find out what happens in Taken Already. I finished the novel in one go as it is just 130 page novel, plus the second half is unique. To find out whether Arjun gets Anita, or Vinay gets Deepali, Anita and Deepali are connected or not, how Sam comes into the picture, Arjun’s love and dreams are fulfilled or remain shattered, everyone get a happy ending or not, what happens to the futures of Arjun, Vinay, Anita, Deepali, and Dhanya; you will have to read the novel, Taken Already. I feel the breath-taking end will keep the readers engaged. Cheers to the author for penning down such a challenging plot.
AN EMOTIONAL STORY OF TWO FRIENDS ARJUN AND VINAY, WHO ARE IN LOVE WITH THE SAME GIRL. AS THE STORY UNFOLDS YOU DO EXPERIENCE SESPENSE RUNNING HIGH ON YOUR SENSES. STORY IS WRITTEN IN THE SURROUNDINGS OF CHENNAI AND SOME PARTS IN PUNE, YOU TEND TO BE GLUED TO THE BOOK TILL THE TIME YOU FINISH READING...… "
This is a novel by Yaagneshwaran.G. He has very well crafted an interesting story around the character named ‘Arun’ who leaves the readers staggered towards the climax. The story is fast paced but still smoothly goes with the proper flow, written in a very simple language. This novel drive an inquisitiveness among its readers with its strapping characters, and the best part about this author is, he has not quite tried to script out all sex unlike many famous authors of today who do just that to draw attention. He has been careful about the epitome and explanation of the real quintessence behind the story.
There are many different things a reader would come across during the journey of ‘Taken Already’ like sympathy, empathy, anger, humor, pun; every element is present in just the right amount, a perfect blend of good novel to read on any of the weekend. Believe you me it will not be less than an adventure ride for you.
Now my Positive viewpoints:
This is a novel by Yaagneshwaran.G … who has done a commendable job and a proper justification to each story by depicting all the characters in the story that has been very well narrated, written and portrayed.
Some suggestive points:
Overall the book is really good and very well expressed; I would like to suggest that a little stringent editing was required as there are some typing errors in the book. Also would like to mention that if some office gossip would have been cut short in some places would have make it more interesting for an audience. Final words:
Overall if asked I would say...this is an excellent job done by Author… (Yaagneshwaran.G) I would give 3 stars to this book.

The story revolves around the protagonist Arjun , who falls in love with her colleague Anita, Anita is a software tester , she is into marketing and promotions. She had just moved into Chennai after her Bachelor degree in Engineering in Pondicherry . She was unsettled in terms of residence and was temporarily staying with her uncle .She was searching for hotel and PGs . Meanwhile Arjun and Anita became friends ,started knowing each other ,develop feelings for each other.
There was something unsual about Anita ,changing his perception about her. Does Anita truly loves her or pretending? or was it just fake ?
Soon Anita started behaving unusually , Arjun gets to know about her dark secrets. Does she have an altar ? But why does Anita does that to Arjun?
Arjun couldnt believe ,whetever the hell he was seeing .There stood Vinay ,posing with Anita ,holding her arm-in-arm .The world turned upside down .All kind of thoughts kept creeping. It felt like electric shock ,Was He being Cheated?
To know more about the story, Go & Grab a copy of the book.It totally gets and holds your attention. I found it to be very intriguing and suspenseful, and I will definitely be watching out for this author in the future . I would rate this book 4 out of 5 stars.
Taken already.... This book is majestic... it is simple, sober yet a wow read... A perfect example to what a Psychological thriller should be... With characters and plots which can be related to our own lives, this is I guess, a real achievement to the author... I am taking this opportunity to boast the fact I know the author personally, but, the main aim is to say that I know how much time and research has gone into this book... the dedication of the author... and I know exactly what it means to the author... He has done his best and the hard work shows in the book. In a reading era where every person reads, and specially where people love the ROMANCE genre, Yaagnesh has done his best to bring the psychological genre again into talks with this book of his... the sequel to this book is hugely awaited by all his readers and fans and everyone who knows him... Just would love to wish Yaagnesh good luck for all his upcoming projects.. Well done Buddy! Keep it up... Best wishes and regards... :)
A good example for the newbie authors. A decent read. Impressed with the cover design and the flow of the story.
Its only when you start assuming various other things, the story reveals the hidden plot neatly in last few chapters. I felt the first few chapters could irritate the readers as the scenes of office look a bit stretched. Characters have been well defined, though they need a lil more punch. Detective Sam was the turning point of the story which if lil more elaborated could have made the story more spicy and juicy.
After reading so many new authors recently, this one earns a brownie point for scanty grammatical errors. And this is one of the major defects in debut novels these days.
Overall, a good attempt. The author has immense potential. Cheers!
The Review: Positives: Its short and crisp. There is no dragging and one can easily complete the story at one go. The plot is interesting though a little predictable. There are also possibilities of a sequel. Negatives: The author needs to work on his writing style to deliver the story more emphatically. However the language is good and the author does have a lot of scope.
Coming across love cum thriller stories is difficult. To start with the review, we would commend Yaagneshwaran G for taking up such a different genre for his novel “Taken Already”
