Love and Football #3

Catching Cameron

Rate this book
Julie Brannagh's sexy, charming Love and Football series continues …

Star sports reporter Cameron Ondine has one firm rule: she does not date football players. Ever. She tangled with one years ago, and it did not end well. Been there, done that.

But when Cameron comes face-to-face with the very man who shattered her heart—on camera, no less—her world is upended for a second time by recklessly handsome Seattle Shark Zach Anderson.

Zach has never been able to forget the gorgeous blonde who stole his breath away when he was still just a rookie. They've managed to give each other a wide berth for years, but when their jobs suddenly bring them together again and again, he knows he has to face his past once and for all.

Because as they spend more time together, he becomes less focused on the action on the field and more concerned with catching Cameron.

This was a good story overall, but suffered from being a bit unbelievable as well. I didn't think the sports world would be quite so interested in the fact that Cameron and Zach had been married previously, and that felt more gossipy than anything else. I couldn't feel a good connection between Cameron and Zach themselves, and didn't see much wooing in either side for them to be able to come back together so quickly. I also didn't care for how quickly the rift between Cameron and her family seemed to be mended, it happened mostly off "stage", and we don't get many details about it. An entertaining read, but not a great one.

In a series full of plot premises that are shaky, to say the least, this one takes the cake. Two young twenty somethings meet in Las Vegas ten years ago and get married after around ten hours of knowing each other. They spend three (apparently amazing) days as a married couple, only to suddenly end the marriage after the man (apparently) takes a cash payout from the woman's father and hits the road. The two never contact each other again. Now, ten years later, the two are forced to interact when the woman, Cameron, a sports reporter for an ESPNesque network is assigned to be embedded in and cover the training camp for the Seattle Sharks football team where Zach, the man, is a star player. You would think that a three day marriage to someone you barely knew would register as a really ridiculous and youthful mistake, only to be thought of in your "What in the world was I thinking?" moments of your later years. But no. Apparently these two fell head over heels in love with each other ten years ago, and they never got over it. Technically, this is not exactly an insta-love story since the "insta" happened ten years earlier, but if you aren't a fan of that sort of story, you aren't going to like this one either.

Major beef for me ... Has Julie Brannagh ever watched ESPN ... ever? In two of the three stories I have read in this series major plot issues involve a national sports network devoting a HUGE amount of time to discussing the personal lives of NFL players. If a sports fan were to turn on ESPN and find them devoting an hour long special to who the defensive end for any NFL team was dating I am sure that the channel would be turned in less than a minute. Sure, this is not ESPN exactly, but it is described to be about the same thing. In this story the producers of this network decide to exploit the former (and maybe current) relationship of these two people for ratings. It doesn't fly for me at all. It's ridiculous. People watch ESPN to hear about SPORTS. If someone needs a fix of information about the personal lives of celebrities, they aren't headed to ESPN. They'll check out E! or some drivel like that, if a story like this would even warrant their time and energy.

Okay ... off my soapbox.

So, I thought the plot was ridiculous. I thought the speed of this relationship was ridiculous. I thought Zach and Cameron's feelings did not ring true at all. If this had happened in real life, I have a hard time seeing things play out as they did. However, having said that, Zach and Cameron were good characters. The story was sweet, and it was a nice HEA ending. I REALLY appreciated the fact that the two of them talked through their issues together and tried to work through problems rather than running away and hiding ... the main plot device of the past two books in this series. But, I'm not continuing on in this series. I can tell that Julie Brannagh's writing style, particular in these sports themed stories doesn't work for me. Still, this one gets three stars from me.

I’ve been on a sports romance themed kick lately, and Julie Brannagh writes fun romances with football heroes and the women that love them. I very much enjoyed her last book, Rushing Amy, so when Catching Cameron was available, I promptly made the request.

Cameron Ondine is a successful sports reporter whom has worked hard to get where she has. When she interviews football player Zach Anderson on her show, things take a turn for the worse when she asks him tough questions about his on field performance, and his off the field love life. When you learn that Cameron and Zach knew each other in the past, and were briefly married, the animosity and disdain that each one has for the other becomes clear.

As a result of the on-air catastrophe, Cameron is sent to monitor the Sharks training camp and she and Zach have to figure out a way to deal with each other so that it doesn’t turn out to be headline news every time they’re together. I like the author’s heroines because she makes them smart, competent, and ambitious. Cameron has turned away from her rich, snooty family in favor of making a name for herself in the world of sports journalism. She has a hard row, and the book makes it clear that she still has a long way to go before a lot of people take her seriously at her job.

I wish I could say more on Zach, but truth be told, he came across as the perfunctory hero. Rich, good looking, takes care of his family, wants to make a good impression on Cameron even though they left things on an ugly note years ago. He was fine, if not particularly memorable – and I had to go back and re-read my notes and even parts of the book just to make sure I wasn’t mistaken on certain plot points.

The forced proximity between Cameron and Zach causes them to re-evaluate the mistakes and miscommunication that happened between the two of them ten years ago. Cameron’s rich and powerful father played a part in their separation when he offered Zach five million dollars to disappear out of Cameron’s life. He does come back and tries again to wield his influence, but both Zach and Cameron are prepared for him this time and send him packing.

As the most casual fan of football ever, (I’d be hard pressed to tell you what a safety is) I can’t remark on the accuracy of the details regarding the football, but it does have a sizable presence in this book – I enjoyed that because I found it somewhat absent from the author’s last book.

The romance is cute if a bit unremarkable, but if you’re looking for a sweet romance with likable characters, then Julie Brannagh’s Catching Cameron should fit the bill.

Julie continues to shine with her third book, Catching Cameron. I love how her main couple are down to Earth, very likeable people. I am now officially addicted to anything Julie writes and Catching Cameron is a wonderful contemporary romance.

Cameron is a female sportscaster who comes from a very rich family. But Cameron isn't spoiled and she worked hard to be independent and free of her parents, especially her father who wants to control her, even though Cameron is a woman in her 30's. She has a big dislike for football star, Zack (he plays for the Sharks), who takes care of his grandma, four younger sisters and a golden retriever puppy named Butter. Zack grew up poor, but made sure his sister's never had to worry about a roof over their heads or starving. Zack and Cameron have a past. They met in Las Vegas ten years ago and got married. Three days later the marriage was annulled. She found out Zack walked out on her after her father offered him $5 million dollars to leave Cameron, which Cameron believes he did. Now years later, they meet face to face during a television interview where she rips into him (the media believes he's quite the ladies man). Because of the interview, Cameron's ratings skyrocket and she is given the opportunity to stay with the Sharks for 6 weeks as the practice for the upcoming season. She's not thrilled by the opportunity, even more so when by accident everyone finds out about her and Zack's former marriage. Zack on the other hand wants to make amends and see if they can work things out because he still loves Cameron.

Zack tries to catch Cameron, meaning recapture her heart. Things are not what they seem regarding the end of their marriage. At first it seems there is a big miscommunication between these two, but Julie nips that in the bud soon enough. Zack is a sweetheart, and Cameron is a feisty heroine who stands up for herself. Watching these two reconnect is wonderful. Also the one love scene is steamier then the last two books, which establishes how much Zack and Cameron love one another.

I really enjoy the spotlight on Cameron's job and how she navigates the world of sports entertainment as a women who deserves to be taken seriously and treated like the journalist that she is.

Catching Cameron gets a big cheer, pom twirling rah-rah hurrah from me. This one is another winner!

It's been awhile since I've read one of Julie Brannagh's books and I'm not entirely sure why. I really enjoyed the first two books in her Love and Football series, and I had a review copy of this one, but for some reason I'm just now getting to it. I'm also kicking myself for waiting so long. Catching Cameron is my favorite book in the series so far.

I love football. I love romance. I love second chance stories. Catching Cameron gave me all of these things in one delightful and sexy little package. Cameron and Zach had some fantastic chemistry when they come face-to-face during their interview. Of course, there's also a good bit of tension that I didn't really understand until the whole story came out. Cameron and Zach were definitely acquainted with each other – quite intimately, as a matter of fact – and share quite a history. But, I'm not going to tell you any more about that.

A book has to have a strong female character for me to connect with it. Cameron was definitely strong. She was intelligent and damn good at her job. It's not easy to be a female sports journalist and Cameron's struggles show this. While I loved Cameron from the start, it took a little time for Zach to grow on me. He was a little too much of a playboy for my liking, but once I got to see the other side of him, the one he's kept hidden since his time with Cameron all those years ago, I was sold. I loved their banter and how their relationship progressed throughout the book.

Catching Cameron was a fun book with a lot of heart. The premise of a female journalist being embedded in a football training camp was just plain fun. My inner feminist was outraged right along with her when they tried to change the show and exploit her personal life. But, at the same time, I loved her interactions with Zach and the other players so much, I loved the idea for my own selfish reasons. Of course, there's some drama, but it wasn't angsty and it was definitely needed to move the story forward. Sports romance fans should definitely check this series out, if they haven't already. It just keeps getting better and better and I can't wait to start Covering Kendall!

I received a copy of this book from the publisher, via Edelweiss, in exchange for an honest review.

Julie Brannagh throws another touchdown with this latest addition to her Love and Football series.

Cameron Odine has earned her place in the spotlight through her own hard work and determination. Coming from a rich family, her career choice is not what her father had in mind and he will do anything and everything to lead her toward a life he find acceptable. Zach Anderson never fully forgot about the wife he had for three-days in Las Vegas, until she snuck away and never looked back. Their whirlwind romance ended as quickly as it had begun, leaving both of them angry and hurt.

Cameron would have preferred to avoid their reunion for the rest of her life, but when Zach Anderson is sitting before her on camera, she snaps. The fall out from this interview sends her on assignment, to Seattle Sharks training camp and right into the middle of the boys club, and some people don't exactly roll out the red carpet.

Catching Cameron was a fun, emotional sports romance read that will be LOVED by sports romance fans and contemporary fans as well. Julie Brannagh does a wonderful job building this story. The elements from the past blend nicely and the sub-plots that develop keep the story moving at a great pace. The chemistry between Cameron and Zach is palpable, even when one or both of them fights it with every ounce of determination they possess. I loved the football banter This book will have your rooting for their happy ending and smiling long after you turn the final page.

Fans of Susan Elizabeth Phillips, Chicago Stars series will love this series by Julie Brannagh, I am three books in and I am starting to feel the connection I felt to SEP's characters the first time I read It Had To Be You (Chicago Stars #1). All of the books in the Love and Football series are stand alone books. You can read any or all of them in any order. This series just keeps getting better and better!

I gave Catching Cameron 5 STARS and this entire series has earned a spot on my favorite sports romance book shelf, alongside my SEP, Chicago Stars books and my Rachel Gibson, Chinook's series.

Catching Cameron is another great addition to the Love and Football series. Cameron Ondine ( or Cameron Online as she is known)totally loses it during an on camera interview with Zach Anderson, a football player with whom she has a hidden past . The network honchos decide that ratings are worth more than journalistic standards and they decide to have Cameron work as the pre-season training camp reporter complete with her own room in the players dorm. Needless to say, this sets up all kinds of interesting situations.
Cameron and Zach have never really stopped loving each other and this is their chance to make all of their earlier mistakes go away. All they need is trust, communication, lack of desire to one up each other, just a few little issues to address.
I love a sports story and this one has the added bonus of a secret relationship, interfering family, conniving coworkers and chemistry hot enough to singe your fingers as you read the book.
I loved this book and can't wait for the next one!

Great book, great series

I think this is my favorite Love and Football Novel by Julie Brannagh so far! Each book in the series seems to just keep getting better. Zach Anderson and Cameron Ondine have a past that only their immediate families know about, until it slips out during an interview that Cameron is doing with Zach. Loved it and still looking forward to the rest of the series.

This is book #3 Love and Football.

It is the story of Cameron Ondine and Zach Anderson.

Cameron is a star sports reporter. She has one firm rule to not date football players...ever. She got burned by doing that years ago, and it didn't end well.

She is not expecting to come face to face with the very man who broke her heart, and on camera. Her world is upended again by the handsome and reckless Seattle Shark Zach.

Zach is a football player. He has never been able to forget the blonde who stole his breath away when he was a rookie player. He has managed to give a wide berth to Cameron for years, but then suddenly they are brought together again. He knows he has to face his past.

As Zach and Cameron spend more time together, Zach is less focused on the action on the field and more interested in catching Cameron once again.

Cameron Ondine is an on-camera personality for football. So far she has managed to keep her three-day marriage to Seattle Shark Zach Anderson a deep secret. But her residual feelings come out one day in an interview where she totally rips him a new one. And it results in ratings gold. So much so that her network and the Sharks boss decide to send her along to training camp to live with dozens of men in a dorm.
Both Zach and Cameron are leery of this process but they have to go along to keep their jobs.

I generally liked both Zach and Cameron but was sad we didn't get to see more of how she mended the rift with her parents. And a bit more on what was really going on with her agent.

Catching Cameron (Love and Football, #3) by Julie Brannagh

Overall Rating: 3.75 Rockin’ ★★★☆

What a feel good, romantic, love-filled romance novel. I was united with this rocky story from the beginning. The characters are so lovable from the start. I felt enthralled with their story and the way they interacted. This book seemed more like real life, like this story could really happen.

Zach Anderson, a veteran professional football player, who came from humble beginnings and a mega ladies man. Maybe in a way, because all the ladies love him, but Zach is a good guy who takes care of his four sisters and grandma. He plays football to help provide for them. Known by millions, but not really, he's in his 30's and longing for that one special person. He didn't realize that love would come back to him, but she walks into his life again and everything comes back, and everything changes...again.

Cameron Ondine, a woman from an "old money family" in high society New York. She wanted more out of life than what her family wanted for her. She wanted to be sports journalist, sports reporter and do it all on her own. So, her desire and drive led her to be one of only a few sports reporters for national football news. Then, a man from her past shows back up and draws her in again. The feelings that never died are driven back to the surface.

I loved this story. It was well written and very entertaining. I felt that it was very true to life and could've happened to any of us. It was a book that made me feel good all over. I loved the fact that even though their crazy, shared past of only a few days, their's was a connection that was meant to be. Overall, I enjoyed the stuffing out of this book!!! Job well done, Julie...Grēta

Hero - Zach Anderson 4.0 stars
Heroine - Cameron Ondine 4.0 stars
Steam Level: 3.0 stars
Plot: 4.0 stars
Cliffhanger: No

Would I recommend this book: Yes!
Would I read other books by this author: Yes!

Posted on What I'm Reading

So, this is my first time reading A Love and Football novel by Julie Brannagh. I do have have own A Love and Football novel, I just haven't gotten to it. However, I plan to rectify the situation (one day). That's okay, because I read Catching Cameron yesterday. I have to say that I did enjoyed the story. Whats not to love I mean the hero is a football player, who doesn't love a football player?

Anyway, Catching Cameron is a second chance love stories. I give up saying that they are my least favorite trope, because every time I find a new one I find myself enjoying the story. Back to my thoughts. Ten years ago Cameron Ondine and Zach Anderson got married in Vegas. Then Zach basically annual the marriage and never gave a reason why. So, Cameron has been holding a grudge on Zach. Ten years is along time to hold a grudge. They see each other again and basically Cameron just goes off on him in an unprofessional way. She ends up on assignment at the Sharks training camp. While there Cameron and Zach resolve what happen ten years ago and try to rectify the huge misunderstanding that ensued.

I personally liked the story, because it's more than just a second chance love story. You have a meddling father who wants his daughter to marry someone like him and bring more power to family. While Cameron just wants to live her life on her terms. Then you have two people that blame each other for what happen in Vegas, and believed it was the other persons fault. However, when they get reacquainted they realize that there was more that played into the situation.

Overall, I enjoyed the two characters, because they had grown up since there first attempt at love. When they first new each other they both had issues. For instances, Zach was concern for his family and wanted to make sure nothing happen to them and Cameron hadn't learn to standup for herself. They both had to learn to trust one another, because of what happen in the past. By the end of the story, I was happy with the end results. So, if you like football and second chance romance, this might be a read for you.

What is it about athletes that make them fabulous characters in romance? Is it their stamina? Is it because they usually have the body of a God? Or is it because they are so determined on winning and they can put that determination towards other pursuits? I love sports themed romances. Hockey, baseball, football... If it has an athlete, I'm in love. Even before starting Catching Cameron, I knew my Kindle was in for a treat. I loved every chapter in this book. The determination radiating off Cameron and Zach was off the charts. Zach is determined to woo and make sure Cameron never forgets him. Cameron is determined to get to know Zach again and she wants him to get to know her. She knows that her father put Zach and his family through hell and now she's wants to make amends. I loved that the two of them take their time to get to know each other. They are obviously still very attracted to each other, but they follow their new relationship to see where it goes. When they are finally ready to take the next step, things go from sweet to sizzling in just a couple of pages.

I loved the previous books in the Love and Football series. The characters that occupy Julie's world are fantastic. They are fun and funny, sweet and loving, and downright sexy. The banter between the Sharks teammates was spot-on. They were like one big, dysfunctional family - one that I can't wait to see more of. I loved how not only did they stand up for each other, but they were willing to stand up for Cameron. I loved the chemistry between Zach and Cameron. It was only a matter of time before they came together. Everything about Catching Cameron was adorable. I'm hoping that Zach's teammates are all single so Julie will have plenty of characters to pair off. Heck... Zach does have 4 sisters... *wink*

While I enjoyed "Catching Cameron", I didn't think it was as good as the previous two in this series. Other than the fact that Zach, the heartthrob in this book plays for the same football team, there really isn't many crossovers between the books like the first two have. I did, however, love the backstory between Cameron and Zach and the romance that developed between them.

Cameron is the essential "poor little rich girl". Her father is a hedge market manager with lots of "old money". She grew up in New York, had nannies, went to boarding schools, followed by ivy league college. Her parents had her life mapped out for her. Unfortunately for them, it wasn't what she wanted and she had her own plans to not continue the life they had. She went off to Vegas the weekend before graduation and met Zach, who had just been drafted by the Seattle Sharks, and as things sometimes go in Vegas, they were "married by the preacher man dressed like Elvis". Three days later, the marriage was annulled by her Daddy's money and trickery and Cameron's heart was shattered.

Ten years pass and Cameron has gone against her parents wishes and has become a sports journalist/tv personality for football. She has her own show on a cable sports network and she is assigned to cover the Seattle Shark's training camp. This is the same team that Zach still plays for.

Needless to say, sparks fly and things happen, including her meddling father, a crazy meth-headed stalker, the protective baby sister, and a team full of caring men watching over them. Great story! Try it!

First off readers, this is a series where each book can be read as a stand-alone novel , so if you have yet to read the previous two books - relax as it's alright, you won't be confused about Catching Cameron. Catching Cameron focuses on two main characters News reporter Cameron Ondine and NRL Footballer Zach Anderson. For the past ten years, Cameron has always wondered why did Zach leave her three nights after their marriage and never see her again or contact her. It is the relationship that she never got over and now ten years later , Zach Anderson is a rising football star and Cameron is a sports news reporter and she has been tasked with the job of interviewing Zach. Cameron tries very hard to keep calm during the interview but it backfires as personal feelings come steaming up to the surface , the awful interview goes viral and it seems her boss has a plan up his sleeve to fix it - Cameron must spend the month with the Seattle Sharks during their training camp which means Cameron and Zach will be under the same roof for a whole month. Will the pair as they discuss what went wrong be able to repair their friendship and in the moment, maybe spark up the relationship that led to marriage ? Has fate given Cameron and Zach another chance at a happily ever after after it was stolen from them , the first time around ?

Romancebookworm's Reviews

Cameron Ondine is a female sports reporter at the top of her field. She works hard and is always thinking of the wants of the views including how she looks. Cameron comes from a rich family but she breaks from their wishes and carves a path that makes her happy regardless of what they want. While Cameron enjoys sports, she will not date football players.

Zach Anderson is a hot and sexy football player with the Seattle Sharks. Zach does an interview with Cameron that should have been easy, however turned both of their lives upside down, and it was all caught on camera. Zach now has to face the past and all the trouble and drama that it entails.

The chemistry between Zach and Cameron is blistering. Now that Zach and Cameron are together, they have to face the past to deal with the present. The sex scenes were steamy. I loved that it gives the right amount of details without going overboard.

Catching Cameron is the third book in the Love and Football series by Julie Brannagh. While this book is part of a series it can be read and enjoyed as a standalone novel. I found this book well written. The main and the secondary characters were interesting and realistic. I read this book in one sitting. Ms. Brannagh does a good job of drawing you in to the story and leave you wanting more in the end. Overall, this was a wonderful book. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

Sports reporter Cameron Ondine and Seattle Shark star Zach Anderson share a history neither have been able to forget. They have been avoiding each other for ten years. As faith would have it, they need to play nice, being forced to work together for the next month.

Julie Brannagh did a wonderful job with the character development, creating believable characters. I really like Cameron Ondine. She was very down to earth. I liked that she followed her dreams and did not submit to her parents will. I pictured her as a football version of Kathryn Tappen host of NHL Network.

Then there is Zach Anderson, holy perfect! I mean seriously how you cannot love a good-looking football star who has worked himself from nothing and takes care of his four younger sisters and his grandmother. Honestly, how sweet can one guy be. Plus he’s tough and not a push over.

I enjoyed the plot. There was so much going on. Cameron and Zach needed to confront their past and misconceptions. Plus they need to deal with their job, family, and fans (stalkers included). The story is extremely believable and exciting.

I could not put down Catching Cameron; I read it in one day. It is another great book in the Love and Football Series. I’m typically a hockey girl, but I do love this series.

Best book in the series. By far.

Cameron is a worthy, independent, assertive, mature, sweet and fun leading lady, who also has flaws. I might have a girl crush! No wonder Zach proposed to her less than 10 hours of meeting her.

And Zach! This is what they call a Man. He's mature and understand, funny, sexy and hotter than hell.

I freaking loved this story. I loved to see them reunited after ten years and get to know each other again, and to just go for it. Risk it because they knew they belong together.

Cam's parents and sister, but especially her father were a though crowd. I loved how Cameron dealt with them and what the lie her father had told her (and Zach) to ripped them apart all those years ago. She behaved like a rock star and owned the discussion but didn't destroyed her relationship with her family. She rebuilted.

I loved Zach even more for doing the same and try to have a relationship based on respect with Cam's father.

Let's not skip the bromance. It was really fun to read full grown men talking about relationships and love.

An absolute winner. Angst free, sexy, fun and sweet book. Must read for romance books lovers!

Fans of Rachel Gibson's ANY MAN OF MINE, will fall for CATCHING CAMERON by Julie Brannagh.

CATCHING CAMERON was just as much fun as BLITZING EMILY and RUSHING AMY, and packed just as much emotion between this "Married for Three Days" couple, who haven't seen each other in ten years. I am a big fan of the "hidden secret/misunderstanding" aspect, especially when it comes to young love that get's manipulated by family members, especially powerful fathers.

Cameron and Zach had a once in a lifetime love for three days in Vegas, solidified that love with rings, and then hadn't seen each other for ten years. These are always the best kind of romances, all that resentment and anger, but still never having let go of that person...yeah...talk about emotional and turning your stomach in knots!

Julie Brannagh has become a must-read author for me and I highly recommend CATCHING CAMERON, as well as the rest of the series.

Absolutely LOVED this book in the A Love and Football series. It has been my favourite of the series, so far. My only issue was that on several pages, a character went from being called Francine to Francesca several times, otherwise I have no complaints and think everyone should read this contemporary romance. There was only one real sex scene, which worked perfectly, and I didn't miss reading more of these scenes because everything else was really well executed. Can't wait to read the next book in the series.

Second read - 18 July, 2020
DNF
This didn't hold up on a second read for me. I liked the idea of the hero and heroine being married before, but there was just a lot of 'stuff' that meant they were antagonistic to one another for a lot longer than kept me interested. I'm also not into reporter characters. DNF and unhauled this time.

Julie Brannagh has me as a believer. She makes it easy to believe in love again. I read the first couple books in her series (A Love and Football) and loved them. I never thought she could do better ... and guess what? She does!!

Zach and Cameron start the book with a history that has them avoiding one another. Then, Cameron's boss makes her go to training camp with him. In Seattle.

Julie Brannagh tells a story here with family love and woe, hot guys, job issues, boy and girl trouble, hot guys, and makes it all seem possible. Did I mention all the HOT GUYS?!

Zach and Cameron show us that love really does conquer all. It is a story that I was thrilled to laugh at, cry with and just plain old enjoy. There are even some really cool surprises from the author, Julie Brannagh.

If you love sports, men and romance - this is a book you should not miss!

Football talk and player antics.

The story of the relationship between Cameron and Zach is engaging, and not as lighthearted as the first two books. Overcoming the challenges presented by both family and career for both characters made the struggles worthwhile, if not sometimes to uncomfortably REAL.

I cheered through the pre-season practices, and cringed at the sacrificial characters Julie Brannagh delivered representing a composite of all that is unnecessary today in sports journalism. (BRAVA - I believe Marshawn Lynch would agree to speak Cameron.)

It was very nice to see the growth of the characters develop in their relationship with each other, but also the relationships with FAMILY. I appreciated the struggles these characters faced and fact that EVERYTHING was not fixed with a fairy-tale ending.

I adored Zach. I related to Cameron. Julie Brannagh knows how to write wonderful characters. Characters that the reader becomes invested in.

But while I enjoyed the characters and the story, I found the pace of this book to be off. So much if what I would have classified as the "good stuff" (and I dont mean sex scenes) but rather the details inbetween the here and now felt skipped.

The story presented many opportunities to see the characters grow, and the explored paths worked wonderfully. But it was all the other, non explored paths, that nag at me.

In the end, I'd say I like the first book in the series best still. But am happy I continued (and I look forward to Derrick's book) to read about Love and Football.

Ms Brannagh continues with fun, interesting stories that center around Seattle's pro football team members, the Sharks in this series. Catching Cameron has a good story line, and the characters are realistic and interesting. While Zach and Cameron are the main focus, there are a number of secondary characters who help carry the plot and who bring in important side issues.

The only flaw that annoyed me was the error in proofreading someone should have caught. "Grandma" was named Francesca...until about 77% of the way through the story when she was suddenly called Francine for a paragraph or two and then again became Francesca. How this did not leap off the page to anyone proofreading the story absolutely baffles me.

This was a great little comfort romance. It intrigued me. I'd never read a sports romance that was set in a football training camp and I liked that I learned something from this. The chapters were short which made me feel like I was going through the book quicker. In actual fact maybe this had something to do with the fact I read it in one sitting.

Some of the writing particularly in regard to Zach, the hero's feelings toward Cameron were a little bit corney and cringy but it didn't stop me reading on. There was good flow and it kept the momentum going.

I particularly liked how strong the heroine was and how she wasn't afraid to go out and do something herself.

All in all - a good read for a category romance. Thanks to Edelweiss, and Avon for the ARC.

very good story of love lost & misunderstanding. Zach & Cameron were quickly married 10 yrs ago for 3 days, each thinking the other just didn't care & wanted out. What they found 10 yrs later was that they still loved each other & after being thrown together for 30 days at NFL training camp they still want to be together. Finding out the truth of why they actually divorced was a shock to Cameron & it takes a toll of her & her job. Other troubles fall on the couple which help to bring them closer only to have their jobs put a country between them. Can they make it work out? Very well written, this is the first series I've read by Julie Brannagh & I like it. Can't wait for the next installment.
