Rocked by an unexpected attack, Latvala and its citizens find themselves at the mercy of a man whose sole intent is to shake up the monarchy. Queen for less than a year, Chey must choose between protecting the man she loves and protecting her unborn child. It's a decision that threatens to tear the fabric of her family apart. Determined to overcome the odds, an embattled Chey proves she can still be wily, unpredictable and hard to control.
Only time will tell if loyalty, trust and the strength of close friends can help overcome the chokehold of tyranny.
Born and raised in Corona California, Danielle now resides in Texas with her husband and two sons. She has been writing for as long as she can remember, penning works in a number of genres. To date, she has published 49 novels and nine short stories. Her interests vary wildly: reading, traveling, photography, graphic art and baking, among others.
I am done, thank goodness. This was like a sick addiction. I couldn't stop. I will read Mattias' book when it comes out, but for now, DONE.
2 stars because that's probably what the whole series deserves but I couldn't stop reading so that must be worth something. Also, the plot was a completely unbelievable mess and full of holes (like every single one of these books, so no surprises there). But most of all, not enough Chey and Sander in this book. Again.
The worst part is that I'm going to miss these characters. Wtf?
I am so moody right now and I really shouldn't be leaving book reviews. There are nice things I could say about these books. They obviously don't suck that much because I read five of them and I'll miss the characters. I stand by my ratings, but feel free to disregard my snarky rudeness.
I read this book in about two hours. I just couldn't put it down, It physically pained me to rip my eyes from the words on the page.
From the very start, BOOM, it just grabbed your attention and wouldn't let me go. Throughout the novel I felt tense, sad, happy, relieved, angry, even more sad... The rollercoaster of emotions was unending. Unfortuntely the book was, and now I need another dose of Latvala.
I love that we get character progression throughout the series, and yet, do we really know anything about the characters? Not really, this is such a character led series and yet the characters are fairly two-dimensional. Does Krislin like gardening? Does Natalia read? Does Gunnar listen to music? We don't know anything about these characters and yet they are like good friends, when someone hurts one of them, I basically feel it.
The plots are intense and full of nuances and sub-plots that are often as exciting as the main, they make sure that there are no 'supporting' characters, because everyone has their place and their role.
I know that I'm gushing and it is horribly embarrassing but I can't stop. MORE, MORE, MORE, hm?!
I cannot sit here and say that I 'forgot' how great this series was or how I 'forgot' what a great author Danielle Bourdon is either. In fact, I cannot sit here and pretend to even say that I 'forgot' some of the storyline since the release of the 4th book in the series. Because, if I were to state all these things, I would simply be lying.
This series is a series you'll never forget. The characters all become a part of you and leave you with swaddled in a cocoon of warm and fuzziness. Bloody brilliant, I tell you!
This book in particular was just as great as the previous works by Danielle Bourdon. My only 'issue' (and that's a complete overstated use of a word, honestly) was that Mattias was away and no one could stop the crazy Paavo from being an evil bastard that he is! My heart broke for Chey and all of the dedication and devotion she showed to Sander during his time of need. After she was reunited with Sander, I wanted to beat Sander up (for the first time in allllllll the books combined; and I'm not talkin' sexually here either) because he wouldn't budge on his decision to address Paavo at once, as he demanded he do.
I really, honestly, thought that Wynn would have ended up with Mattias but it seems that isn't the case (sorry for the spoiler you Mattias and Wynn lovers!). But in the end, it was perfect how everything played out.
The way Danielle Bourdon displayed the amount of joy and affection that Sander provided over the birth of his son and his undying love for his wife, Chey, is breathtaking. It is simply beautiful.
And yes, I would be a liar if I sat here and said that this series could end, right here and now with this 5th book and I would be 'okay' with it. In fact, I'm not. I love this series sooooo damn much that I'm hoping there is more to come on others involved within the storyline so the story will just continue to live on and on and on and on and on and on and on and.. you get the picture. ;)
So what do you say Danielle Bourdon, will this lovely series that I adore so freakin' much continue on? Or, will you crush my book dreams and fantasies and end it with this being the last book of the series? My fingers are crossed (as well as my toes and I've even braided my stupid long hair in a criss-cross fashion!!) that you will continue on. I promise, I will TOOOOOTAAALLLY be your new BFF ;)
Just finished the book - book 5 in the Latvala Royals Series - and it was EVERY BIT AS GREAT as the first four! I couldn't put it down! Bought and read it in one day. Once again Danielle takes us on an incredible journey of Chey and Sanders love. We are also drawn into a world of one mans greed and what he will do to get what he wants. We meet a new character, the hunky friend of Mattias ( who shall remain nameless because I don't do spoilers) who is every bit as hot as those royal men. I'm excited to see where Danielle takes us next!
Chey is put to the test, as Queen, her King needs her protection. Is she strong enough? The betrayal goes beyond anything she could have imagined. Close to giving birth, her determination is as strong as ever. She won’t let him down.
Who can she trust? Their county will be divided, if the Sander can’t control the treachery that has intentionally fallen over his land.
Who is Loyal to the King and Queen?
The action never stops, the first chapter starts off intense, and rarely lets up. The pace is fast and furious, and just when you catch your breath your hit with a new twist that is frantic and deadly.
Writing: spectacular, plot: fantastic, characters: fascinating, this is a series rich in words that will fill your mind with the imagery that this author has intended.
What a journey, one more to go, and I’m thrilled, yet on the other hand, knowing there is only one more left is concerning, I’m not ready for it to end. I have been living in the pages of Chey and Sander, and feel them. They are a part of me now.
Don’t miss this series, you won’t be able to stop reading, it’s addictive from the start, and will capture you in every sense of the word.
When I started the book I had forgotten most of the plot but a few chapters in it all came back to me. The book kept me on my toes for a long while I just had to read the whole thing at once.
The book was emotionally draining to me and I loved it. Sanders is is as captivating as in the first few books and just oh so swoony. But I wated more Mattias scenes and i liked that Gunner was more involved in this book.
I abosultely love this serious, however, I was a little disappointed in this book. I was disappointed in the fact Mattias, who was very involved in the other books, was not involved at all in this one. He was mentioned but did not make an appearance. I found it very unsettling that Sanders closest brother would not even make an appearance at the hospital, whether it was a secretive appearance or some CIA type G14 classified mission. I didn't like the fact that we are left hanging wondering about his whereabouts and basically was replaced by some unknown character, Leander, who's relationship to the King and Prince is also G14 classified. I understand the series is about Chey and Sander's relationship, but I feel as readers we also developed a reltaionship with Mattias as well. Even Natalia was mentioned in this book. I don't know if it was only me, but I would have rathered Natalia been off on some excursion with her 'boyfriend' and read more about Mattias. I didn't appreciate finding out he came back the day after the baby was born and oh btw, he has a special someone...really, really, that's how we some up a major character to this series. Didn't like that AT ALL!!! Maybe the author felt we as readers we're too attached to this Prince so she had to remove him from this book.
On the otherhand, I did like the fact that Gunnar was more involved in this story. It was nice to see the youngest brother stepping up and learning the ropes.
As for Paavo, it would have been nice to see if he had an incling of some type of feeling or wonderment for Wynn...but, we now know truly what type of man he truly is. I was kind of hoping someone else put him up to this coup. But I guess the saying is true...like father like son.
The book was good, but I felt like something is missing...I feel incomplete.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Let me say that Danielle Bourdon had me hooked from "Heir Untamed"-- were it all started. The Wrath of the King was AMAZINGGG from the very 1st chapter. I had to apologize ahead of time to my husband and pooch that i would be screaming, laughing and crying because i knew i would and boy was i a hot mess. Like I said from the beginning it was a rollercoaster, action packed and just kept getting better and better. Who would want to do such harm? Why? This booked wrapped up King Dare's and Queen Chey's story :) Danielle, thank you so much for such a wonderful series!!! This is my #1 Series :) so please tell me that there is more to come maybe a book on Mattias( who is his special someone, where was he throughout the book)? Maybe a book on Wynnie & her Hottie Man? Thank you once again!!
This is the last book in the series. It isn't your typical Cinderella story. It doesn't stop when the girl gets the guy. It is full of complications and obstacles at every turn. How can you live happily ever after when its against the wishes of a corrupt king and queen, against members of your family, and against the councilmen of the nation. It's not always a happy story and its completely real. It's one of the best series I've read. There are so many twists and there are times it's heart wrenching. I definintly recommended this series.
I am at aww with this book!!! Finally after all the drama a great ending came out of it! What i really want to know is, is there a 6th book??? I would really like to know what else happens in their lives w Paavo. He has to come back w something else. But i also want more of mattias and sander and Natalia and Chey!!! Even w/ launder and wynn i want more love and drama!!!! ❤❤❤
This book moves the series in a slightly different direction. Given that our main man Sander is in a compromised position for a large portion of the book Chey is thrust into making hard and fast decisions not only to protect the king but to protect her baby.
A few people didn't enjoy this instalment but I loved it - more politics - more of Chey being Queen - more mystery and intrigue.
Only one reason that I didn't rate this a 5 star...
I've enjoyed this series and this installment was entertaining, heart pulsing and intriguing. as close as these brothers are it was hard to believe that more time wasn't spent addressing the missing Mata is. I look forward to the final book in the Latvala Royals series!
I have to say that this Royals series was my first on that I read and it hooked me to the point that reading anything about the Royals is #1 for me!!! If you have not read any of these yet....READ THEM! ITS A MUST!!!!
This book was such a let down. I got through books 1-4 in two weeks and it took me over a month to get through this one. The genre and main characters changed out of nowhere and I lost all interest within the first 20 pages. It was a good book nonetheless, but there was an expectation that was not met. I hate starting a series and not finishing it, but I guess there is a first time for everything.
Holt Toledo Batman, that was awesome. As with the other books for this series it id action packed from the very 1st page. This was great ending to a fantastic series and I have to say I am kind of devastated that us actually finished, I can live in hope there will be more books for it, there seems like so more to happen for this family and the country of Latvala. This book starts with Sander involved and a target of an IED on the caravan that he was in. Seriously hurt he is in a Coma, with Latvala open to having no king. With Mattias MIA, Paavo steps up to the plate as King and starts his long planned take over and cutting up the country into different segments so each Royal controls their own piece of land. We heard all about these plans in Book 4, where they were quashed by King Sander. Ready to take the king down, Paavo sets to remove anybody who will get in his way, including the queen, Chey who is only weeks away from giving birth to Latvala's new heir to the throne. Chey refuses to leave Sanders side while unconscious so sends Wynn back to the castle to be her eyes and ears. She never expected Wynn to fall under Paavo's spell as well, but with his sexy looks and don't mess with me attitude, Wynn takes on the roll and personal assistant to Paavo to try and get more information to get back to Chey. Everything terns chaotic when Chey is taken hostage form the hospital by Paavo and taken to his seat in the country leaving Sander alone in the hospital. But Sander's sister and sister in-law Natalia and Krislin find Sander waking up and remove him from the hospital before the guards of Paavo's return to kill him. This was probably the only part that a little far fetched for me, but still made an amazing story. I found my hate for Natalia cease a little in this book as she stands up to do the right thing instead of being the spoilt little bitch she was in the 1st books. Bring on the fight to save Latvala, return the King to his rein and bring down Paavo. I thought I might hyperventilate with all the action that was going on at one point. This was an amazingly written series with great characters and awesome storyline. Danielle has done an amazing job, but I have to say I am devastated it is finished. I need more Wynn and Leander and Chey and Sander and Krislin and Gunnar and OMG where the hell was Mattias??? I need to know more about Mattias. Ahh until then I shall dream of more more more.....
I finally read the 5th book to this series. There was a good time gap plus reading many other books from the time I read the fourth book to when book 5 came out. When I picked up book 5, I couldn't wait to read it. After reading the first couple of chapters, I just couldn't connect with the characters or the story. As I mentioned before, I had read many different books before the final book came out, and I just couldn't get back into this story without rereading the previous books. Unfortunately, I just wasn't ready to do that.
Close to two years later, I reread all four books and finally read the 5th! So glad I went this route. I loved reconnecting with all the characters.. The twist and turns and little things I had forgotten.
The fifth book was just as good. It had its drama, twist and turns but there were moments it went a different way then I thought. So it was unpredictable at times.
Why did I not give this story 5 stars? two things: 1. I didn't like the concept of Wynn liking Pavo like that. Not sure why that was even in there. Other than, it than letting the reader wonder if something would happen. If it had, the book would get negative stars. Not the way to end a series and definitely not the way to treat your BFF. anyhoo, thats here nor there now. 2. Mattis? Hello he was such a strong character in ALL the books.. and then suddenly he isn't in book 5 AT ALL except for the end. and all we get is that Leander and Sander know what happen but noone else does.. NOt even the reader. Its like the author didn't know how to use him in this story. I like how he wasn't able to be found in the beginning, which left the inevitable - Pavo in charge but I truly believe she should have incoorporated him somewhere in the middle. I really want to give this book 3 stars just b/c how how Mattis was written out of this story. but I can't - Ms. Danielle did do a great job in her writing.
"The Wrath of the King" is another great read in the Latvala Royals series. This time, the action starts from the very first page. A convoy carrying the king and his security details is attack by an IED. The blast knocks the king into a coma. Since Mattias is out of the country and unreachable, Paavo stages a revolt and steps in as King. He also manages to blackmail various officials into signing a bill dividing up Latvala.
Meanwhile, a very pregnant Chey refuses to leave Sander's side while he is in the hospital. She sends Wynn undercover at the castle to ferret out what is going on. Paavo seems to take a liking to her so Wynn attempts to use it to her advantage. Soon, officials come to the hospital to see Sander. However, Chey refuses to allow their entrance and places extra guards on hand.
Paavo has Chey escorted from the hospital and into his custody. Little does he know but Sander has finally awakened from his coma and is removed from the hospital by Krislan and Natalia. When he has discovered what Paavo has done, no one and I mean no one will stop his from retrieving his wife and child.
While this was a fantastic read, I am growing tired of all of the conspiracies from read to read but I guess that is par and course for royals. It does appear that Chey and Sanders stories is at a point that they could take a back seat and allow for Mattias to come out front and center. That would definitely be a really nice change. I would also like a more detailed account of Wynn and her new interest. No, I will not tell you who since I do not want to spoil it for you. So, go on and pick up the series and read it for yourself.
This was absolutely horrible!!! All it was was a story about a whiny prince who didn't get his way and the king who bullied his way back to the throne.
Waaaay too many inconsistencies. First off, Paavo had no need to hire Wynne. That was a convenience for HER. secondly, where was Mattias? Oh wait...the book doesn't say. All we know is he just HAPPENS to be indisposed when the king HAPPENS to get ambushed so Paavo just HAPPENS to be back up king. Seriously?? Wouldn't it have been better for Paavo to kidnap Mattias or even kill him? Why would Mattias disappear and not return if only for the story line. Ridiculous.
Also, Leander just HAPPENS to be friends with Mattias but neither Paavo nor Gunner know who he is? Again...ridiculous.
Basically the author said, "I want Paavo to section off the districts and regardless if it makes sense we're going to do it." It would have been better if Sander was out of commission then Mattias stepped up. Suddenly something happens to Mattias and Paavo has to step up. Then Paavo disappears leaving Gunner in charge but quietly Paavo is directing his little puppet from the background.
Also, how CONVENIENT for Sander to recover right when Chey is taken away.
I seriously think I'm the only one who saw how ridiculous this whole book was and a waste of my 3.99.
This is truly sad because I loved the first four books and waited with bated breath for this one. I do believe I am moving on from His Majesty and seeking out books that actually make sense with some semblance of suspense and romance. This book had neither.
What an awesome series. And it’s just that a SERIES. You don’t watch your favorite T.V. show expecting to see the end the first time you watch it. This first book doesn’t end the way you want it to so if you’re not into buying books with in a series then don’t read this one because you will not be able to put it down. You will also be disappointed in how it ends. Now if you’re willing to stick it out in the long run you will be pleasantly surprised. It is an awesome series full of tragedy, compromise, adventure, anxiety, drama, obstacles and most of all romance.
After reading the product reviews for this book I was skeptical. So after reading the first book it became like an addiction I just had to know what was going to happen next. As you go further through-out the series your get to know the characters more. There is not a lot of bad language in this series I think I may have found 2 words with in the 5 books I have read. There is also not a lot of the raunchy sex scenes in this book. Both things I found refreshing.
Just a true romance story, personally I truly enjoyed each and every book. I got so swept up in the books I just couldn’t put it down and found myself reading in the wee hours of the morning.
If you love books in a series you will not be disappointed.
Can I just say how happy I am that I stumbled across this series will checking out goodreads listopia? From Heir Untamed up to The Wrath of the King, my toes were curling from all the sudden twists and turns of the plot that I have to say, I am down right not expecting it. The very moment I found out who Sander really was made me pause for a good 30 seconds and let out a 'holy shit' because from then on, I knew this book and the series would never fail to surprise me.
I've managed to finish the whole series in a half a week because I just couldn't let it go. Until now that I've read through all five books, I'm still high on feels and my emotions are still unsettled.
I'm gonna be recommending this to my friends since I'm their source when it comes to good reads, We've got a whole summer in front of us. i have no doubt they'll get hooked the same way I did.
Looking forward for more from the author, specially now that I found out Mattias has his own spin off. ;)
This book had its ups and downs... 1. I fell in love with Mattias from the beginning and I just cannot believe he was not included within the book.... And then he shows up so mysteriously the very end and we don't even know what had happened to him 2. In addition I felt that Leander was so downplayed we never knew who he was or how he had a connection with the Mattias I didn't like that the author kept that private 3. There was absolutely no flirtation between Pavo and Wynn 4. The relationship between Leander and Wynn was very fast paced 5. The plot was very convenient at times 6. I did enjoy Gunnar's involvement 7. I liked Natalia's characterization 8. And I did enjoy seeing Sander as a father 9. The chase between Sander and Chey was one of my favorite scenes 10. Overall I thought this book was very incomplete and she did not attempt to fulfill the shoes of the characters to the fullest potential
I quite sad this has ended. It was a good series. As always, Chey can infuriate me with her actions, but her friends and family are just awesome. I was disappointed that Mattias wasn't even in this one, but I do know he has his own series and I will definitely get my hands on that. Everything comes full circle in this book. It's the type of ending you'd expect and want for these two love birds and their family/ friends. I would definitely recommend this book to the ladies (and maybe fellas)who like reading about royalty, a regular working girl becoming royalty and the back-stabbing, lies, cheating and downright scandals of the world's elite.
