I was young enough not to understand that my life was different. Colin became the one person that I could count on to protect me. He suffered for the both of us by carrying the burden of our secret.

Annie and Colin are linked by their tumultuous past. It’s not been easy, but they’ve both survived. They both are strong. And they both have one major weakness. Each other.
Annie is a high school student who just turned 18. She is trying to live a normal life, but her life is far from normal. She does a good job of faking it, but only Colin knows the real her. Colin and Annie were put in a situation where they h ...more

This book covers dark subjects, and it's one of the few in the niche that pull off a hopeful and happy ending that I felt was both beautiful and appropriate.
Annabel
I appreciated Annie's role here. Her innocence and defiance -and- her fear and trust played well off each other. But, if I'm honest, Colin steals the show.

I have to spoil a little the beginning of this book so you can understand my problems with it and because the blurb isn't telling much. Don't worry, I won't spoil major information. The things I will tell, I guessed right after the second chapter. It won't ruin the story if you read my review but you will know with what you have to deal.
So be warned!

Whoa!
This book started with a bang!
We were definitely thrown into the deep end as we first learn a little about Colin and Annabel.
2% in and I was already feeling that nervous flutter in my belly.
Teresa Mummert delivers an (almost) taboo story that I didn't know I wanted until she offered me the apple, tempting me to take a bite.

This book was recommended by a friend and I was intrigued it's also the first book I've read by this author.
Now it's difficult to write a review not spoil this for you so I'll skip my usual summary and just give my opinion.
I was hooked instantly, there's something about this book and the way it's written. The characters, Annie and Colin are almost haunting at times I couldn't get enough to the extent where when faced with Jacobs POV I was a little annoyed that it had taken me away from where I w ...more

This was recommended to me by a friend, and I'll admit Colin's character was everything I hoped he would be--dominant and larger than life. Annie's immaturity was an annoyance but can be excused given her youth, so it didn't bother me too much. I enjoyed the story, although I couldn't help but feel like this was the sequel to the book I wish had been written. We get bits and pieces of what happened to Colin and Annie through dreams/nightmares, and it's enough to understand why they're in the pos

Wow! That was mind-blowing! I fell in love with that quote. However, it was not enough dark for my twisted mind :P
I don't know, maybe I expected something more disturbing. Mind-fuck. So, yes, something was missing to call this book perfect, but damn, it was really close to perfection.

I was provided an ARC for Pretty Little Things. I will be buying a hard copy as soon as it's available.
It grabs you by the short hairs from the first page. By page four you love the characters so, so much. Colin is my favorite, an anti-hero.
And he is a delicious one. He is terribly dirty and has a devious mind. Mummert absolutely slaps you in the brain with the vivid descriptions. When you find a book that has perfect character development and a unique, driving plot, as a reader you just want ...more

I really should've written this review when I read this. Now, I'm going off of my memory and some really piss poor notes/highlights. BUT...from what I recall...this sort of stuck with me.
I love the cover. It's...kinda twisted like the whole book was. The writing was good. I fell for the characters and the plot, even if I was raising an eyebrow along the way to both....I was still riding shotgun and enjoying it.

This was completely different from what I expected it to be.
Months ago I read a teaser which made me believe this was about something completely different.
That original teaser wasn't even in the book, so it must have changed at some point.
But it was amazing. I went into it with no idea what it was about and it was very hard to put down.
It's helped push me out of the slump I've been in. My favorite Teresa Mummert book for sure.

Pretty Little Things puts truth to the words that looks can be deceiving. From the outside it looks like Annie and Colin live a charmed life. Brother and sister living with their wealthy father in a big house, complete with hired help and all the perks of big money. But… Annie and Colin aren’t really brother and sister and the man they live with isn’t their father.

I really had high hopes for Teresa Mummert's "pretty Little Things," especially with the vague yet intriguing synopsis but for me, this one really fell short. Looking back, the premise of the plot was fantastic and the characters definitely piqued my interest. Equally, the air of mystery and suspense that slapped me in the face very early on and this had the makings of something quite spectacular.

I am not understanding all the 5 stars, I am giving it a 2.75 star, and I am not afraid to be in the minority. The writing was good, there is no doubt Teresa Mummert can write, it flows well, but the actual storyline, left me just baffled and bored. I just can't wrap my head around any of it. I don't like weak female characters and the last two books of Mummert's I have read have done nothing to empower the female heroine. I thought I would give this book a chance after the disaster of SafeWord.

I didn't know much going into this book. The blurb is kind of vague, which leaves you guessing as you first begin. It's mostly told in Annabel's and Colin's POV - with a small glimpse into Jake's POV.

Wow...blown away by this one, Teresa!
Pretty Little Things grabbed my attention from the very beginning! I wasn't really sure what to expect at first, but damn girl, you know how to pack a punch right from the start! I think what I loved most was the originality of the story. I'm finding it more and more difficult to find well-written, original stories, but Teresa nailed this one!

I thought the heroine was dumber than toothpaste at times but I could understand why she made crazy choices, and I still loved her character and rooted for their relationship. I enjoyed reading this book. The cover helped me to like it even more. The cover is so simple yet it's saying a lot. Once you start reading the book, you actually understand the cover.

First of all, I would like to say a huge thank you to Teresa Mummert for giving me the wonderful gift of reading her baby early. I know how hard it is to let go and send your novel off to fly on its own, but let me tell you, this one will soar to new heights.

I bought this yesterday, I had a sick kid and we laid in bed all day and I read the whole thing. That NEVER happens that's how good I thought this was!
It's one of those that is hard to review, the way that I do at least without spoiling the entire plot.

Annie is soft, and we almost think breakable, until she blows that right out of the water.

I clicked on this book because I thought the girl on the cover was soo pretty and then I read the summary and I was like 'ehh' and then I read the reviews and I was like 'hmmm'; So that's how I finally decide to read it.

The chemistry was electric!! Wow. I really enjoyed this book (despite my kind-of critical review).
The story centered on two teens escaping a cult -- wherein depraved, unmentionable horrors occurred. They find a new home with a local attorney who rescues them, exposes the cult, and the two teens re-establish themselves as siblings. “Forbidden” love ensues through a passionate love/hate relationship, smoldering stares, and a series of flashbacks.
