All About Jane is raw, emotional, and it just gets under your skin. I was riveted from the first page. It felt so real, as if I was sitting in a room with the narrator hearing her accounts firsthand. So real that at times I felt pain, and heartbreak not just for Jane but the narrator as well. Bullying has become an epidemic and this story gives readers a look into the heart of the bully and the victim in a way that you feel for both of them. We see what happens when bullying goes unnoticed. I ne ...more

Disturbing. Not the writing. The writing is good, real and graphic. So detailed at times that you almost feel you are reading the author’s memoir and not a fictional story. It’s hard to believe that teens go through what Jane had endured, but only because we don’t want to. We all know it happens and happens all too often. We can only hope that stories like this one will help open a blind eye to the many problems our youth face on a daily basis. My only complaint to this uniquely written story wa ...more

Mattern's young adult piece, "All About Jane" is a masterpiece that deals with a growing issue within American society, bullying. This book is raw and passionate, with characters that any person can associate with. The classic characters of the high school dynamics are there, and Mattern uses each one to tell the hidden effects of vicious rumors and heartbreaking situations that has effected youth for generations. It's a great read, and leaves a lasting impression on the reader 's soul.

I read that book "13 reasons why" about a girl who committed suicide and at the end of the book I was disappointed because I'm not saying the girl killed herself for no reason but the book was just kind of to innocent. All About Jane definitely was not innocent. I hate it when people sugar coat things or don't show the REAL side of things, and that's exactly what this book does. I definitely was not disappointed.

It's going to be bias, but I am very proud of this work. It is fitting for students today, even though it references the nineties. The rawness in language and details is necessary for the reader to understand the realism of how challenging it really is to be a teenager...then, and moreso, now. If you read All About Jane, please post a review. Feel free to contact me at www.carriemattern.com with feedback or questions. I love hearing from fans!
