Geniuses are born every day. Unfortunately, most of them will never receive the depth of intellectual nurturing required to push that genius into full bloom. Designed to stimulate the learning response in newborns through age 11, these practical exercises and interactive activities can enhance a child’s motivation and spur improved school performance. Examining how their children best learn new concepts enables parents to unlock impediments to academic success, and release the latent genius within. Activities are sorted by age-group, with concepts introduced using a proven methodology and covering such topics as color and pattern recognition, the physical world, mathematics, nature, reading and writing, using computers, and more, all communicated in a way that will bring out the best in every child.
There was some interesting information in here on how learning happens and lots of activities to try with your child at various ages. That being said, the book could have been more explicit with the learning objectives/milestones at each age — lists would have helped. And some of the expectations aren’t quite age appropriate. Overall, this book has good info but I worry some parents will take “genius” too seriously and pressure their kids or themselves as a result of reading it.
