What a pleasure to read!

I just finished reading friend and fellow writer Gail Whitiker's new historical, NO ROLE FOR A GENTLEMAN. The author's prose is beautiful and evocative, but the true beauty of her novel lies in the creation of characters with warmth, integrity, vulnerability, and a passion for life that brings them vibrantly alive.

This was a fantastic book! I loved Laurence so much and his struggle over being Valentine Law and being himself felt very realistic. I was hooked from the very beginning. A very delightful reappearance of his sister Victoria as well and Loftus turned out to be quite different than I thought he would early on in the book. Awesome awesome read!

I encountered Laurence, who strikes me as the first male character in a historical fiction romance novel to work so hard to prove his love for a lady.
Intriguing and not so full of wit, but it certainly has some charm.
A lovely quick read!

Gail makes her home on the beautiful west coast of Canada, where she’s happy to say umbrellas outnumber snow shovels. Originally hailing from Wales, she says her fascination with the Regency period began during frequent trips back to visit family and friends when Sunday afternoon drives would inevitably lead to a castle, a cathedral, or a country house hotel (where she also discovered an unfortuna ...more
