Once upon a times and happily ever afters? Sometimes Destiny is far too dark to give us a traditional faerie tale!
Life is a fragile thing, not only in the mortal sense. It's like a big glass ball waiting above your head, and sometimes one simple thing can send the glass crashing down around you in a million small pieces. All you can do when that happens is stand by and wat ...more

A fairy tale with a wicked twist.
Lainy Lane presents what seems at first as a straight forward fae world. But all is not as it seems. The characters are developed well but leave you wanting to know more as the story progresses. Each one with a curious background and unknown motives that you aren't sure who to root for. Can't wait to see how the characters and story play out. ...more

This present-tense narration is unusual (and a bit odd), but the worst part about the narration is that everything is simply TOLD to you, and not in a particularly compelling or enticing way:
"Calandra (the main character) walks through the woods and down the path she knows so well, toward her sanctuary. This has all been far too much for her lately. She needs peace, and her favorite place to find it is the sanctuary. Serenity comes easily as she walks down the winding pathways; she knows the cle ...more

I love the fantasy world Lainy Lane has created. It sucked my in and kept my attention to the very end. Little by little Lainy Lane leads you into her fantasy world as Calandra walking into a new world and a new life. So what if everything you know about your life is a lie? And someone tells you you are destined to save no just one world but two worlds? Would you stay in the world you are familiar you with even though you know you were meant for something else or would you venture into a new wor

The prose needs tightening (or axing with a sharpened hatchet). It is riddled with unnecessary adverbs, filler words, clichés, and vagueness (somehow, seems), as well as consisting of more telling than showing. For instance, Calandra often intuits what others are thinking, which is annoying. We often are “told” her feelings. This applies to descriptions, too. Furthermore, the sentences are choppy, the vocabulary repetitive. I will be blunt: the writing is poor.

Holy cow!!! I had been waiting on this book ever since I read Equinoctial Sacrifice! And let me tell you, It was soo worth the wait!! I am so glad I have this book to reread when ever I want to. This book takes you in from just reading the blurb on the back. The author has such an amazing imagination, from the characters, the plot of the story and my favorite the characters names. Calandra is such a beautiful name! And Jerreth is an odd name which makes me love it even more. I was glad to see Ca

I'm not 100% sure I actually understood everything in the book as it seemed to me to be a few contradictions and there were also a fair few punctuation and spelling mistakes so be warned.
Basically the gist of things I think I understood was that Calandra always thought there should be more to her life. Her father and boyfriend were very religious but she just wasn't like that. Don't get me wrong she wasn't bad or evil just thought there was... more. One day she comes across a guy in her special ...more

Lainy has blown me away with another fantasic story. Full of vivid detail and incredible characters, Lainy has created the perfect world of Faeries.
Having read the prequel first, I only caught a small look at Calandra, daughter of Hollyn and Chase. Now in Field of Innocence, Calandra is all grown up and incredibly beautiful and powerful. She has an amazing boyfriend who is her rock. Her father is still a jerk and she has an affinity for music and nature.

The writing in this book is poetic and beautiful, just like the cover. The storyline is original and captivating. For me, the only problem lies with the MC. A stranger tells her such and such is her destiny, and she just accepts it without questioning or wondering if the person is telling the truth. She accepts everyone at face value in too innocent a way for me. I kept wanting to smack her for putting herself in danger or making poor decisions that didn't make any sense. Overall, the book has y
