Ok. So, I finished reading this and.... while it had a great concept, it fell short on its execution. Basically I don't feel that this book was ready for release. I think that both the actual plot needed to be revised (greatly) and the book needed to go through some serious editing (for errors, repetition and flow) and it generally just needed a lot of work.

I have to admit that I did really love the initial concept that the author set up. The blurb was on

it was all...

I'll just keep it short and say, this book was not for me. I didn't connect with any aspect of this book.
It was kinda fucked up.

Shards Of Us is not what I expected. I hoped that it’d be as epic as the mysterious, enthralling blurb, that caught my eye, but I got something entirely else and I’m not exactly sure how I feel about it. I didn’t hate it, nor did I love it, and books that fall into meh and okay category, for me, are the hardest to write about. Should I focus on the things I didn’t like? Or should I point out the best assests?

Well, I really don’t know, what to think about Shard of Us… I fear my great

When I first read the blurb for this book I had goosebumps. It sounded different and very intriguing. And for the most delivered on both counts.

This is a story of two broken souls. Although shattered in different ways, they are both dealing with a sense of loss and helplessness.
Crystal has lost her parents to murder. She is stuck in a bottomless abyss where depression is her only friend. Growing up, she faced loneliness and never really had friends.

That was a bit strange. I don't quite know how I feel about this story. Did I love it? No. But did I hate it? Have to say no to that too. I feel like the blurb which intrigued me from the get go. Was very misleading now that I've read the book in its entirety. What this book turns out actually being about sounds so different from the blurb. I feel like my expectations were a bit high going into this & then I just feel like it didn't quite live up what I expected.

In some ways it reminds me

Okay, so let me go ahead & start this review with the "PROS"

1. The first 20% of the book was super intriguing.
2. Sebastian seemed pretty hot.
3. ....
I got nothing else.

So... let's go ahead & forget the LIST of cons & just begin my rant.

I did not enjoy this book.
I found the characters to be ridiculously unrealistic & just plain dumb.
Please note, I really wanted to enjoy this book...

I truly am confused right now. Currently there are a few reviews for this book; mostly in the lower stars. Most of them point out the fact the characters changed d

Ok we have Sebastian, he meets Crystal every Wednesday. In this hotel room they do no more than talk, kiss and talk about their painful pasts.
Both of them broken and In need of each other to help heal them..
So...this is where its starts to get weird.
She and her friend Ash decide to see if they can find more out about this mysterious man. Ash decides to follow him..

I really wanted to like this book, wait... I wanted to love it. The blurb had me all twisted and even the start of this had me excited. But then about halfway something happened...

I found the start to this had a some decent tension, but I just could not connect to either Crystal or Sebastian at all. Crystal was all over the place emotionally and given the circumstances she found herself in, they were not at all reasonable reactions. I am not sure if a handful of additional pages could have allo

Well... What started off as a promising, potentially good read ended up in my DNF shelf. Why you ask? I was fucking bored and it was ridiculous to me. So I'm giving it 1.5 stars

1/2 a star for the cover
1/2 for the blurb
1/2 for concept. I thought it was a cool concept that just wasn't executed right!

The blurb was the most interesting part of this book. When I read the blurb, I thought, "I must have this book!"

We're still just pieces of what we once were, but I can feel the pieces of my heart coming together, and they're here for one thing and one thing only: him.
I love Sebastian.
I love everything about him.
Even though I shouldn't.
Even though I know it's wrong.
I love him.
I love that I'm his prisoner.
I love everything about our setup.

Shards of Us by K.R. Caverly

While I read, I generally take notes on my experience. For SHARDS OF US, a debut New Adult novel since pulled from sale by K.R. Caverly, it was a note that I made in my notebook at the end of the book that really describes this novel.

“Quite possibly the creepiest, most unhealthy romance novel I’ve ever read – it made FIFTY SHADES OF GREY look normal.”

I don’t know where this book went wrong. The synopsis was strong and promising, and the cover was a big turn on in a se

I really hate to have to say this but I promised myself I would be totally honest with my reviews…ALWAYS! So that being said this book was a huge disappointment. I like so many loved the blurb & one-clicked it the moment it went live. I knew at 10% that this book was not for me (that’s a lie it was actually at 8% I knew.) But stubborn that I am I refused to DNF, so I plowed through hoping that I was wrong or that it would get better but to no avail. I could of ov

Don't know if Ima go write my full thoughts here without spoiling the whole book but this was a big disappointment.

But what did I get?

Okay, it starts off good, intriguing, and just like I expected from that great blurb. Then everything went to hell basket.
The ending was so shit and I questioned human morality.

Not at all what I expected. I don't ever write reviews but I have to for this book. I have read alot of books and some of them being disturbing but this I cannot even categorize. This story line was just wrong. The background story of Sebastian and Crystal is just to out there for me. Sebastian was obsessive to the point of disturbing and Crystal was in idiot. I don't have words for how to describe this book so the closest thing I can come up with is Messed up, weird and total unbelievable. I di ...more
Wow. I haven't been this disappointed in a book in a long time. The blurb had me hooked and I thought for sure this was going to be an awesome read... but it was no where near it. I think the premise was wonderful but the execution of it was terrible and fell flat... really flat. The plot did not flow well and was boring where as it should have kept us on the edge of our seat. Most of the characters actions (and reactions) made no sense and Sebastien came off as creepy with zero personality. The ...more

The blurb drew me in. I was intrigued. I enjoy a little mysteriousness and twists.

The book cover: Good. It suits that whole debonaire man in shadow with the burst of cobalt writing. Simple and crisp. Echoes the blurb.

Those two things were the best part of the book.

The big deal is reveled early on and the rest of the ride is predictable. The story tries to surprise but it falls short.

The H/h recycle the same thoughts/feelings/dialogue throughout 85% of the story.

Seriously disappointing. I wanted to read this book the minute I read the blurb, bought it the second it was live, and wanted to cry that it wasn't at all what I was hoping for. Everything about this book is weird, I couldn't seem to connect with the characters, at first I was a little confused about what was going on, the H was a little creeperish to me and I think the h was a little batshit crazy. Everything seemed disjointed and twists/dark secrets were pretty obvious to me. I don't know, I f ...more

The concept of this story was interesting...the execution (seriously, no pun intended! lol) was just was not there for me.

I felt confused and agitated during most of the book. Already like that in real life, no need to add to it. The characters ran hot and cold, especially towards end and I lost what little connection I had with them.

The story isn't that dark to me. Bizarre and a bit twisted? Sure, I would go with these categories. If it sounds interesting to you, give it a shot. I don't regret

I bought this from Amazon, skimmed it, and returned it. I wanted to know what happened after the scream. The blurb was too vague. But it sounded sweet. Two ppl who make each other happy, and just wanna be together even without sex, right? WRONG! This book is demented. They don't make each other happy. They make each other wanna kill people, maybe each other. Literally. They're a couple of little psychos. There was an epilogue which I kinda wish I had read before returning it. Damnit, another book that might've been great with a rigorous editing (I highlighted 30+ problems) and some very thoughtful input from some gentle first, second and maybe third readers. This reads very first draft-ish and it's such a shame because the bones are all there: it has a great premise, some great writing, a couple of great twists, and I love the Epilogue. Perhaps a newly edited version can be released at some point. As it is, unfortunately, this is barely readable.

This story has promise but for the love of all things holy, get an editor. The amount of grammar errors was distracting and too much. From page 1 all the way thru the last chapter you will find misspelled and missing words. Such a shame because this book could have been 4-5 stars if well written
